make it 40 points to win for every 4 quarters. and count them as 1 win. (just like a playoffs win, best of 4 series) if it is tied at 2-2, then 20 points to win in Overtime. Allstar game saved.
Why does the NBA insist upon making this game a JOKE. We all know that these players are really good when nobody is playing defense. How about a real game , best vs best. Now that would be worth watching.
Because they gain nothing by going all out. does them winning here grant them mvp or a chip? no? then it's pointless.

And for quite some time the players simply do not respect this anymore. they just run around half speed like total clowns in the so called all star game... this game was about pride until this current crop of players completely turned it into a business trip.
To be fair it's much better than last year as far as defense goes...

They removed it because it’s not fair to the team with the better record of the season. While that is somehow true, now is another joke of all star and nevertheless still a bit more interesting than this shitshow of basketball game. I can understand why NFL pro bowl is how it is, but NBA and MLB are just absurd.

I am a 90ies basketball fan, but I kind a like and understand the rule changes to support offense, but it is the players themselves that completely ruined the Allstargame. one thing is the Entertainment factor, but in the days of AI, Kobe, KG, back to Jordan, Bird etc. players actually wanted to compete at the Allstargame. only one player at least trying to compete for anything (for excample NOT GETTING OVER 150 POINTS would be a real brightspot

I see the problem. James, KD, Curry, Leonard, and Davis are all the man in their mind already so they don't feel the need to go all out. The East has young players with more energy that are hungry.

Also before the 10's, players played an average 72 games, meaning with injuries calculated and virtually nobody sat to 'rest'. 'Risking injury' is a bs excuse for a soft era. And I bet you're young so when all you have seen actively is an all star game like this, ofc you don't miss the best players of the league actually being competitive. That's why we watched the All Star. To see players team up with players they would probably never play with. In this era in which players run to each other to win chips, that's probably not interesting anymore either.
