Born in 1976 in Tehran, Ali Banisadr moved to America when he was a child. His works are influenced by his experiences as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq war and his approach to abstraction mixes memory, nostalgia and violence. He is best known for his large, lush, highly intricate paintings featuring fantastical landscapes reminiscent of stained glass. Ali experiences synaesthesia, a condition which shapes his perception of the world, and a dimension of his work.
His work can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum der Moderna in Salzburg, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the British Museum.
Not only the paintings, but the soul of this artist is interesting to me. Looking at his paintings, I see images and beings behind brush strokes. They encourage the mind to imagine, and what you imagine surprises you. Few of Mark Tobey's creations, also, have the same effect on the observer. When I first looked at Mark Tobey's drawing entitled the New Day, I was overwhelmed with the images and hidden stories that were revealing themselves. ...... paintings with tangible souls. Ali, you are a kindred spirit.
As a painter myself I find his work absolutely inspiring! Pure genius.
His story is a great example of something amazing coming from something bad. Wishing him all the best. His work is exceptional!
Thank you!🙂
I have no words, it's just breath taking!!
He's truly a great artist.
I am glad to learn about this artist. What as interesting combination of experience, style, technique, and color! It's fascinating how he is using his neurological condition to "listen to" his paintings.
Safoora Yousefi really incredible
Wow watched this over n over n I could still look at n watch a painting of his for ever so brilliantly coloured just like real life!!! :)):)):)).
His works more than amazing, I keep looking at his painting to understand and I am keeping to search for his arts
How interesting how his vision and hearing come together to produce such amazing art. "They are finished when they are quiet". I can't imagine. I loved listening to him talking about how he views what is around him. His work is beautiful and fascinating. I personally love his use of color, it seems almost necessary.
This young artist is brilliant indeed.
I really love his work.
Beautifully painted amazingly felt!:)):)):)).
It’s amazing how much movement and spatial depth he creates in one painting. It kind of reminds me of looking at Avant-garde music scores as well.
"These colors exist in nature, and in your imagination, so why can't they be painted?" Wonderful statement. There are only limitations if you subscribe to them.
So true...👍🏿
eine hervorragende Arbeit. sehr interessant
Loved the very end when he talks about his use of color. I often feel like I shouldn't use too many colors because it puts people off, but that's what's so friggin' fantastic about art. Sometimes it's meant to make a certain type of person uncomfortable.
wow, these paintings took my breath away...the heaviness to the ether
His studio is so neat, I'm jealous.
Lynn Early I know ...right
Love these series! Please keep them coming!

MAGNIFICENT & BRILLIANT! We Are Proud of You! & We Are Proud To Be Iranians from the Land of Aryans, Zoroaster, Buddha & The Heart Chakra of The Earth. ✨🌹🌹🔥🔥🙏🔥🔥🌹🌹✨
His thought process based on experience, sound, sight and combined senses, his painting melding these intangible senses to tangible composition, design by history, war, human expression, thinking is the key by extension of the hand.
Su obra es impresionante, una maravilla,Es un gran artista para mi.
wow, thank you for this wonderful video. The colors are so beautiful n feels like shades of innumerable emotions n feelings. I am amazed. It is an expression, coping skill, extremely therapeutic n supports catherisis and leads towards hope to who resonate... this is my personal feeling. Could not move without leaving a note. Thanks again.
Brilhante! Finalmente, um fôlego de algo novo, algo belo e original no mundo das artes... Essa cinestesia é o que torna suas telas tão vivas !!! O hipnotizante caos reflete a sensação do mundo e do momento no qual vivemos... É como se esse lindo e talentoso jovem, trouxesse Bosch ao presente ... Encantada com seu trabalho ! Acabo de conhecer o canal... Muito obrigada !!!
Breathtaking and refreshing
The black water painting really caught me!
Wow ! He is awesome
Incredible instincts for the imaginary! Bravo!
Very nice painting style!
amazing Art
I have often wondered at those who can look at a work of art (of any kind) for a very long time. I will look, then look away, then look again, look away, feel the energy (or not) flowing out at me, then move on to the next. I think with his work I really could stand there and look and look and look and let it flow over me like music. I understand what he says when he talks about music coming from the art.
His way of his way ! beautiful .
I love his color palette!!!
it's nice to find other artists with synithsesia
Absolutely brilliant artist.
10:35, the world's neatest work space ever. :)) thank you to bloomberg for introducing me to mr. banisadr! wonderful video of brilliant artist. and a brooklyn man. yay.
I found this very interesting. I’m mot so keen on his paintings but once I understood the background i could appreciate them. I liked the b&w drawings very much and resonated with the artist’s way of relating to his environment, the way he gathered aspects of it and added depth to his busy works by including them here and there.
This guy is really awesome, he sits above so many

Great talent thanks
That is no excuse. There are literally tons of struggling very talented artists out there with very impressive works, just as impressive as this artists.
Sailing Gauguin um. No. Been done before...... Look at who they compare him too..... He's just taking what they do and making it his own.. Same thing they did.....
Wow, amazing, very cute man
Gorgeous work. Brilliant artist. Makes me wish I could develop synesthesia. I wouldn't try to steal his style, (I have my own) but I will definitely study his color-mixing combinations because they are supremely beautiful; especially the purples, blues, and greens.
Very nice.
Terrific
“Writing about art is like dancing about architecture” This video takes this quote to a whole new level... A painting is not music or sound- fight me.
the sound of his voice intriguing
Nice Work. Bosh is something else.
awesome art! also reminds me of mark ruffalo
Intrigante!!! 💥
sensacional :)
I liked the music he listened to in the video. Can you write the reference? And very interesting to see and hear the ways he took inspiration from art, imagination, surroundings and reality - noicy and beautifull and intense
Wow! Amazing artist
I have synesthesia also. I haven't heard anyone complain over having it. To me, I see every letter and number as having colour personality and a gender. It enriches people if anything. It's a strong association between colour and shape.
nice :-)
His mother is stunning
He is artist.
it's a shame that these videos are not captioned, for us deaf and hard of hearing, people.
Wow,...they really should be captioned!
It is for me. I wonder if they changed that since you said something sometime ago?
Dude they are, hit the CC button. Hope that helps
Why bother. Its just money making waffle.
His mum is a beautiful looking woman

Professor Banisadr, your paintings are astonishing, could you please teach me your painting style by youtube? Thanks,
thank fy...my mind(controll emotion)
"hey, i love your garden!" "GET THE FUCKOUTATHERE!"
Wow
complaining about the edge of art will not make a Worhal or Basqiat any less valuable. Values change. Also, cymatics create everything... this fellow is informed, but not uptight. Much respect, sir.
As an artist that as well is influenced by war, in school for my BFA, and trying to bring airbrushing back to the fine art world instead of helmets and cars, I can only dream of being in the MET someday.
How is this about you?
inspiration I suppose.
'Bring back'? It's already there. You're just using it - you're bringing it nowhere.
All art aspires toward the condition of music! -Walter pater
