  • Terry was speaking my language too. I KNEW there HAD to be another pilot, that learned navigation with E6B’s (manual), VOR and ADF and no GPS. And we won’t even discuss the onboard radar then. I flew B55 (6-pack only of course), with a Colemill performance conversion. Great airplane !

  • Great Avidyne conversation. After flying a C421 for 35 years at 43 GPH, I loved trading to an air conditioned A36 at 17 GPH! As I now consider something to carry my grandkids (and their parents), it is hard to justify an unpressurized BE58 in the 36 GPH range when pressurization, 2,300 # useful, air conditioning and the same 190K are attainable in another C421 for 43 GPH. Love your candor!

  • Recently I found time to watch Martin Pauly's video on multi-engine training, 'Ground School' with Doug Rozendaal. He talks a lot about the Baron and V MC, and the Baron v other light twins. It's a little long at 1:23 but very worth watching, I learned a lot! His method called "The Drill" is also very good. I think Flight Chops covered that one once also. Both well worth the time!! JMHO of course. --gary

If y'all would be interested in doing a tour of our facilities next time you're down, I'm sure I can talk to our PR folks and try to help make that happen. There will be some video and photo restrictions, depending on where you are, but the worst they can say is no. Let me know if y'all are interested and we can look into it. We still have analog back up ATI, ALT, VSI, ASI. However, I'm looking into the Garmin G5 to get rid of all of that. Great episode!

But agree with what you guys said, the additional information, and weather and such is not a distraction, it is a big safety help if used correctly. I think u need to keep up on ur basic skills & use all the tech available at your Fingertips to the best of your ability to make it as safe & as efficient as possible. I believe that the safest you can be with the equipment at your disposal is the way to go n not to worry about people that say having screens etc everywhere is a bad thing, it’s almost like they state it’s cheating, no it’s not, it’s called being safe.

Just seems to be more sporty handling vs the 58. Club seating is nice in the 58s, but if you’re never sitting in the back, what do you care.

  • Sorry in advance for asking a stupid question, but what exactly are you talking about a “six pack”? I know it’s not beer or your abs. I think it’s your older instrument panel? I assume they must offer a digital upgrade to replace all the older style gauges and dials to touch screen and push buttons. By the way I do love watching your videos. As you can well guess from my question I’m not a pilot. I have flown R/C for 20+ years, flying everything from gas, glow, electric, ducted fan, helicopter, quad copters, and single as well as multi engine models. I was mostly into flying 3D acrobatic models. I also have instructed many beginner pilots and flung the hardest to teach were the real scale pilots. Reason why is that they kept trying to fly like they were “sitting in the cockpit. However when flying R/C you really can’t do that because a lot of time your flying towards oneself and imputes are reversed to what you think you would do if you were sitting in the cockpit.

    @perrypike90@perrypike904 жыл бұрын
