Join Clay Newcomb and crew on his favorite hunt of the entire year - the opening of the Arkansas bear season. Clay heads to the backwoods with his family and friends to archery hunt for black bear while Clay’s son ventures off on a multi-day backpack hunt to try his hand at spot and stalk hunting. It doesn’t get much better than mules, friends and bear grease.

Agreed when it's a topic I am interested in his podcast is one of my favorites

Clay, that’s how men raise men. Good for you and Misty letting Bear come of age in one of the best ways possible.
Wow. Powerful episode. That young man gives me hope for the future. We need more like him!
👍👍
Yet he is still out there killing bears…
@@jacobneymeyer9692 Black bear meat is one of the finest table fare meats in the natural world. It's also one of the best animals to harvest in terms of yield -- a person gets a LOT of meat off a black bear, compared to a yearling or 2 year old white-tailed deer. It's MUCH better than having state Agencies need to put down animals because the population exceeds carrying capacity -- the state benefits from the sale of licenses, which goes back into creating more and better habitat for all wildlife, and nothing goes to waste. Whereas in an animal damage control situation -- see CO -- bears are shot and left to rot on the ground.
@@hunt_trap_fish I swear this show brain washes people.
@@jacobneymeyer9692 have you ever eaten bear meat? Have you ever looked at what happens to bears in states without hunter management?
Love that Clay finally has his own little mini series. He’s tremendous and it’s awesome to see how he hunts in his home state of Arkansas.
Man, as a relatively young man and a new father it brought a tear to my eye to see the excitement Clay has for Bear John here. I understand now the desire to share your passions with your children, and to see that here makes me excited to bring my daughter up in the out of doors. Thanks to meat eater for always putting out such awesome content!
Clay Newcomb your a southern man's southern man! God, family and the outdoors, Rinella knew what he was doing when he brought you on to the Meateaters staff. Finally, a man that I can understand and relate to! Your Bear Grease podcasts are the best thing going. Your Daniel Boone episodes were the best of the best. Being from Kentucky I take great pride in the story of Colonel Boone. There is another man that I think you should take a look at and that is Simon Kenton. He had as much to do with or more so than OL' Dan'l with the settlement of Kentucky. Thanks again Clay, I appreciate you.
Roby, great comments you took the words right out of my mouth!!!

My new favorite hunting episode out there. As a father of two young boys, this is IT. Well done, Bear, and well done Clay!
Clay is my favorite of the Meat Eater crew. Wise and humble, passionate and staunch. A good man.
Hands down one of the best episodes, yet. Just stellar on all fronts. Our world would be in a lot better shape if more young men were raised up and given similar opportunities. Good job, Mr. Clay. Great dad work! :)
The stuff of legends. Nice work, Bear.
Just darn good people right there. Love it. Those father/son moments are awesome.
Bear Grease is the Crown Jewel of MeatEater.
Awesome! I never realized you all had a KZhead channel. Been binge watching for last few weeks. Clay is one of my favorites on here.
Thank you for letting us share this experience with your family clay.
I’ve watched and listened to all y’all for a while now, this episode was simply my favorite of all. Way to go BEAR!
Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine kzhead.infoUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
Loving all the conservation vids recently!
Top notch Clay! Your content is some the best stuff I have seen in awhile.
Many things to love about this video. More of Clay on meat eater please.

You raised that boy right Clay!! This shit has got me all choked up.
Absolutely awesome video, two thumps up to that young and his dad. Loved it
The Newcomb kids are the baddest kids out there. River's Bear is one of the best hunting films of all time.
Clay is a storyteller. One that can bring the power beyond his tribe. Truth, honesty and a cadence that draws one in. Real good stuff.
Man now that is some amazing hunting content especially with your son getting that bear at the end!

Awesome times in the woods with good friends and family. MERICA!
Great video! That young man pulled off quite the accomplishment. Congradulations.
WoW what an amazing young man. Congratulations to him. What a way to make your dad proud.

Loved it keep up the amazing work clay and great job bear. Wish the Render was in video format as well, love just listening to y’all talk like being around the campfire with y’all. Makes me proud to be an ozark hillbilly much like yourself. And that was very much a complement.
One of my favorite episodes. I know how his young fella feels to want to do it the hard way. Good on him and good on Clay for having the right support/nurture instinct. Give that kid airtime!
This is one of the best KZhead videos MeatEater has ever put out
Man all I can say is your son is a stud.. I wish I had a dad like you
I like watching clay alot hes very knowledgeable. Its also awesome seeing his son being raised right and carrying on the next generation of men.
We need more men like this raising men like that
One of my favorite meateaters episodes of all time
Impressive son! Congratulations to both of you!
This might be the best video Meateater productions has ever put out. I loved watching Clay and Bear. Great job Bear!
Hell of young man and what a proud dad moment.
Such a cool story. I had to come back and watch this one a second time a few weeks later. Love these personable stories and seeing the enjoyment on everyone’s face. A true American tale.
I absolutely love the Clay Newcomb episodes. His perspective on everything makes you look at things in a different light.
CONGRATULATIONS BEAR NEWCOMB !!!
So good! Give Clay more opportunity!
Awesome! Congrats to your son. That’s an accomplishment.
Baiting bears is also a big investment of time, energy and effort. Its not a freebie, and its not lazy, it takes lots of planning, and I agree with Clay, its a big time commitment. It's a great way to hunt predators. Congrats to that young MAN. Thats an experience he will never forget, and is the type of thing that gives you confidence that you can make it in life, not just hunting. Congrats Bear!
Clay is such a great addition to the @meateater team - great episode
Much respect for Clay's son. At that age to accomplish such a feat is huge. He will take that confidence with him for ever. Wow, Hoka Hey!
Congratulations Clay and family. That was a great episode. Thank you.
Great episode. What a way to start a season.

So awesome! Thanks for sharing this experience with us
This was one of my favorite videos I’ve ever seen from meat eater! Great job to everyone involved!
Reminds me of when my old man and uncles would take me to deer camp for the week. It was cold and had some harsh days out there but I’m a better man today because of it. It’s great to see young men like Bear out enjoying what the creator has given us and honouring that animal with the amount of effort, determination and respect is really awesome too. Great episode
Did you have problems with doing the giveaway?
Super awesome the young man got his bear. Congratulations! Congrats to everyone else also. I love watching
Thank you Clay and family for sharing. I love any media you turn out. The Newcombs and Co. are the best storytellers in the business.

Love it. I enjoyed listening to Bears first solo hunt on the podcast, glad I was able to watch the process that goes with the story. You guys rock Clay.
That was my favorite MeatEater/Bear Grease/Bear Hunting Magazine video I have seen in a long time. I enjoyed reading Clay's article last fall, and the video far exceeded my anticipation. That looks like the funnest camp with some great people in some great country.
Much love for Clay Newcomb and his family!
I'm a Bear Grease fan and have been hoping for video of bear camp since the Bear Grease episodes that talked about it. This goes way beyond expectation! Thank you for letting us in! Powerful episode, very uplifting!
