  • Just wanted to say I love your videos! I’m considering a PsyD but as a single mom I’m not sure how to be a full time student and still keep a roof over our heads.

    • I can only imagine! I know of a few students in your same position and I'm hoping to do a few interviews in the future that might be able to shed light on it, I think it's an important topic

  • Hey, Phil. Just found your channel. Got kind of a complex question. I'm wanting to do my graduates degree in Psychology with a concentration on Forensics. My school is SNHU. Southern New Hampsire University. While they are regionally accredited, their Psycholgy degree does not qualify for licensure. But going into anything clinical isn't my goal. I work for walmart and am wanting to get into the legal team here at the Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas. I was wondering your opinion on a Psych degree that wont get you to be licensed however comes from a school that is legit and accredited. Also, walmart loves SNHU graduates because that school is part of their employee program of paid collge tuition for associates. Would it be worth the 20k? Btw i subbed. I guess im wondering how recrutiers would look at that degree in a legal field as opposed to clincal or practice whoch obviously i wouldnt be eligible for. Could i still land a solid job even outside of my own company should i want to?

    • Hey great question! So anything in the area of getting a college degree in psychology is great, my only question is will your degree make you eligible for graduate schools in order to concentrate your studies in a grad school program for forensics? I think how I'm understanding your question is that you just want to make sure that if you get this degree you're going to be set up for the type of work you want to do? I think asking the company and verifying that they would accept your degree is acceptable, and I also think emailing graduate schools about your courses and degrees and how that looks if you were to apply to their program is also accepted. The biggest thing with clinical psychology is going to an APA accredited program for the PsyD/PhD but if you don't want to go into the clinical part it sounds like there's more options for you. If you have any other questions please feel to reach out on my website at philsarpong.com/personal-training-fitness-specialty-client-faqs/ and send me a message near the bottom of the page and I'll get back to you. KZhead doesn't do a great job of notifying me of comments so it's better to reach out on my website/social media

  • Hello, I am currently earning my Master in Forensic Psychology. I graduate in October 2023, yay! Would working within the forensics unit of a police department suffice in gaining the minimum of 5 years experience I will need?

    • That's a great question! I'm not exactly sure what the APA requirements are in this case so I might double check with perhaps faculty or professors in your program. Best of luck!

  • Hi!! I’m a senior in highschool and working in this field has been a dream of mine. What do you suggest I major in? I was planning on majoring in psychology and minoring in criminology. Is this good? Would I still be able to get a PhD in forensic psychology? Thank you for all of your help!

    • Great questions! Often times contacting the PhD schools you might be interested in might be helpful ways seeing what their suggestions might be. In general there are lots of ways to get to the same goal, so contacting a PhD forensic psychologist or the school might be the most helpful, best of luck!

    • Hello! Also depends! IO jobs sometimes are more contract positions rather than full-time it depends on the job/company but they can both have similar pay outlooks.

    • Yes, I have a part-time job as a personal trainer. It's flexible enough that I can do it around my training hours/school. Others also have part-time jobs, but it needs to be flexible in order to accomodate school responsibilities. Hope that helps!
