How To Build Affordable, Space-Saving Gear Lockers from Baltic Birch!
Join Wranglerstar in his workshop as he tackles the intricate task of building custom gear lockers from the finest Baltic Birch plywood-without any pre-made plans. Navigating the build process without a blueprint is a true test of craftsmanship, requiring foresight into how each decision impacts the overall design and functionality. It's about creating not just for utility but for aesthetics too. Why settle for anything less than beautiful?
In this video, Cody explores the capabilities of his new M18 Milwaukee Track Saw, a critical tool in achieving the seamless look that all skilled carpenters strive for: no visible nails or screws. He’s thrilled with the results - lockers that are as stunning as they are functional.
Stay tuned for part 2 of this project where we continue to refine and perfect our craftsmanship. Don't forget to hit like, subscribe, and join us next time in the workshop!

A video tutorial for 'Double The Width Of Your Natural Stance' would also be appreciated.
@@1neAdam12hemorrhoid stance
Very nice. The only thing that runs through my mind is the 3/8" gap makes a great vent and a good access point for a mouse to a place where Momma Kitty can't follow. Since I was taught not to offer criticism without a solution. My humble offering is to put some galvanized mesh down there and use a wood strip to hide the edges of it so they don't catch anything in the cubby.
Was thinking the same as well as adding a computer fan to each one while doing the lighting. Airflow would be improved and less likely to get the smell too
I had the same thought about the mice ingress as well! Good idea with the forced ventilation too a timer switch would allow you to turn on a fan for a duration and shut off automatically.
He can just spray it with pepper mint essential oil every month.
Staple a screen on the opening!
"I just start building then come up with clever solutions to my lack of planning" 😂 Gold.
So now he’s a cabinet maker too. Well done, Cody! My one alteration: gap the hinged benches 3/8 on each side. Moisture rises and the wood may swell. Oh, and mount a vertical strip on on the back underside of each seat that firmly abuts the hinge to offer rearward support and help take pressure off the hinge when a person is seated. God Bless!
He can easily add some vents to the fixed area of the seat with a router.
The Big Bear "must me nice!" got me!😂
That caught me off guard and was great.
Very cool design! Might add some strips of wood under the lid, so they'll take the most of your weight when you sit on the bench (now only the tiny screws of the piano hinge take the weight).
LOOK at that WIDE west coast stance!!
Beach Ball Stance
As an east coast man I must admit a small amount of jealousy towards that powerful west coast stance. Along with his immaculate hair piece. Simply stunning…
@10:47 the tranquile masterpiece takes shape. The video editing and pride speaks loud. Oh and the “well beloved, that’s about all I have time for today” pure comedic genius
Figuring out "Order of events" is my favorite part of a project.
Cody, if anyone complains about the cost of things you do or purchase they don't know you. You've been around forever and built up a massive following. I been around since Wrangler barn days and that time all those timbers you prepped for that small home were stolen and now look at where you are you have built an empire you built something to pass on You've helped so many young men over the years and if anybody complains about money then they're not worthy of your time I do like the fact that you threw in that short audio clip after you showed the cost of the plywood. I wonder how along that plywood would take to come in where I live I know it's special order so that's 13 ply hours wondered how many ply it was as I've seen other woodworkers use that type of plywood to make cabinetry
the vent in the bottom also makes it possible to sweep dirt out easier
That’s nice and clean looking with seeing no fasteners nice job.
Good job Cody the older we get the better we are
I made similar cubbies for my daughters but I mounted the piano hinge in the gap between the boards and screwed into the vertical/cut edge. That way it’s more hidden , cheers
That looks like Tigerply. Nice stuff
The cabinet maker in me is proud of your progress and your clean work. He also started screaming internally when you put the piano hinge leaf up instead of hiding it in the seam as well. Other than that, a fine piece of work!
I was thinking he could have used the door cabinet hinges on the inside and added cleats on the inside to carry the weight.
That track saw is the bees knees!! Great job for winging it!
Always a good day when you got time to work on improving the shop! Hopefully you like that track saw, been switching all my corded air nail guns over to team red battery operated, so far so good and not listening to a compressor go off all day is priceless.
move the place where your names are going to go to the top shelf so its above the helmet instead of below. That will give you more headroom
Mr W, I don't know much about cabinet making either. I have a strong interest in woodwork. Personally I would add a piece under the bench seats to that your weight isn't relying on the small screws, as part of the hinge. This may already be a part of your plan although I felt it necessary to mention.
I am glad I looked thru the comments, I was going to say the same thing. I do not use piano hinges so I am unsure of how they will hold up but I see only a handful of small screws and I worry about falling thru in time.
OB's "must be nice" was great. Love it.
CAD as in Cardboard-aided Design is always helpful. You can quickly mock up and modify a full size prototype with a box cutter and tape. And it’s a good way to use of all those Amazon boxes we all receive. That’s how us East Coast Prohos roll.
My only add on would be some sort of seat support on the side walls of the under seat storage area. Maybe some 1 inch thick scrap pieces that would go 3/4ths of the way to the hinge from the front of the seat. Then you could drill through the side wall's and put in some wooden pegs with glue. When you finish the locker the little wooden pegs being a different wood would show up as nice little detail to show it wasn't just slapped together with screws.
Very cool! One suggestion: put cleats either under each side of the seat or at the back under the hinge. I may have looked at it wrong, but it seems like the only thing holding your weight are the screws into the wood. With the amount of them there probably wouldn't be an issue, but I tend to over build stuff. Thanks for making interesting content!
Excellent job. But note, on 12:45 you could have installed the hinges vertically and screw them to the sides. Would hide them and look nicer.
What about adding some support strips for the seats on each side inside? It looks like the strength of the seat just in the screws and hinge.
Nice job Cody, well done !
Looks great. The mitered edge on the shelf is a nice touch
Very nice job Cody, and a very good idea for storage. I absolutely love those track saws ,and wish i had one. It is truly a game changer. Thanks for the video.
If it were me, I'd leave a quarter inch gap between the top of the front face and bottom of the seat for extra air flow. The lip on the seat should hide the gap pretty nicely too.
I never would have thought of it but I'm also going to do it in my garage for my motorcycle equipment. Thanks
Those are sweet, I'm going to add these to my shop.
beautiful work. nicely done cody! 👌
Those are VERY handsome. Nice work Cody.
this is a great design, thank you for the video. for added security and stability so that the henge does not fail over time, if you add a simple 1x4 to the sides right under where the henge is will make the seat last much longer
Great video and project, optimizing and organizing the shop is the best feeling!
Beautiful wood working bench cabinets, you did a perfect job on making those. Very impressive 👏.
Fizz inducing craftsmanship!
Nice job. Good to have “Must Be Nice!” back!
Very well done sir. God bless.
Take the board from the bottom of the shelf, place it on top of the shelf. This will give you the clearance as well as adding a lip to prevent anything from accidentally being pulled off the shelf. Just my opinion and suggestion. Looks good. I’ve been planing on doing something similar as a coat rack, seat at my front door.
Looks good baby
Looks good!
The New Yankee Workshop. < west coast style
Turned out ver nice. Like the design esthetic too.
I really enjoy this OG style content :)
looks great!
Nice job… I miss that work shop at the last place
Wonder if some 1x2 runners flush with the front lip would help support the seat. Seems like the hinge could eventually become a weak point.
On the helmet shelf, use a wire shelf, or drill a bunch of holes in the particle board, for air flow, to help the helmet liner dry.
Good work there sir
Really like those cubbies as we called them in my childhood home. I think these would have been better after we got into high-school sports like lacrosse. The extra space would have kept our entryway more put together. Great build quality, and style to boot! Dare I say though I have a request. I would love to see a short even of all your drawers in your rolling Snap-On blue cart. The one you do some assembly on. I distinctly remember having seen all your sockets and wrenches sitting in. Just a quick series of the drawers. I ask because most of the tools I have acquired have come from seeing them on your channel first. While I may never join the ranks of a PROhO; I can sure try. Please and thank you.
Nice and clean!
glad to see no clogs
Getting good use outta that track saw. Nice
MUST BE NICEEE!
Cheers!
Beautiful work! My house had a roof leak and insurance covered the repair of it and continuous flooring. I bought a 5hp saw stop and am going to build my own cabinets!! If you’re ever near Coeur d’Alene Idaho, you have a place to stay!
That thumbnail displays a proper skookum West Coast power stance
Maybe a stop block under each side of the lid, take a little strain off the hinge. Looks good 👍
Watching your video had to wait a few minutes while I did my Wim Hof breathing exercise. lol Great idea for a dressing/ undressing staging area. Would be nice for a mud room for the kids. Thank You Sir
Always love a good build video, Thankyou sir.
Good idea and great execution, well done!
Handy giraffe manger!
What an incredible project, the no fasteners is a super scukum idea!!
Hinges might want to be screwed to the edges of the boards. They'll be stronger to support the weight of someone sitting on them and also be less visible.
Very nice! Do you think you might need to brace the back of the seat, it looks like all the weight is hanging on the hinge when you sit on it?
Good point…
Great job! Love the videos and what a great idea 💡
Beautiful!
Very well done
Hockey style lockers. Excellent choice.
Fun fact! When Westcoast man says "super skookem", it translates to "wicked pissah" for Eastcoast man. Could also be "wicked awesome", or just "pissah". That's my New Hampshire translation lol.
I love this video !!!!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Some of the nicest plywood I've seen in a while.
Should be at $165.00 pr sheet..probably cheaper to buy than build..surely not a blue collar build…must be nice..
@jonnorton9720 bruh you can use cheaper plywood If you truly want something you will reach it, instead you wanted to complain?? not that I would know.
@@vcommandarv5916 not your bru…not everyone is a millionaire, don’t think it’s ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS..bru..wanna be..ever hear of the first amendment?? Bet your a liberal that try’s to bullyi anyone you don’t agree with..
@@setdown2 you can get5 sheet plywood for like $70 per sheet from home depot and get a similiar product.
@@setdown2huh. I didn’t know that you had to be poor to homestead.
Those look very sharp!
Nice job 👏 👍 👌
Must be nice! Big Bear is slowly breaking back to mainstream media again! Much love, Cody!
Looks awesome! Very easy to add on too…
Love the bigbear reference
Just got off work to another great video!! Love your work man!
Hockey wins again. The only real sport. Well done sir.
One bad idea after another. Now take it all apart and paint it lol.
very nice setup. I could definitely use it for all of my electric unicycle gear.... which is very similar to what one would wear for moto.
Love it PROhO!
A long time ago i made a decision that unless i wanted the top of a tall cabinet to be for long term storage then i would put a small slope on the top so if you want to set something on top for a temporary amount of time it will sit but with the slope its not a good place to just leave something with the slope its visable and you have to place things up there if its just tossed it might not stay but the best thing is its visible
That is some very good work. I would’ve liked to have seen how you hid all the nails.
So cool!! I'll be adding a set to my future shop (God willing) Just a thought.. what about adding a hidden dehumidifier to blow dried air through the bottom storage and some glove dryers and maybe a vent for the helmets too? They look great!
It's just multiple hall trees stacked together. Some of those hall trees are beautiful hardwood with simple ornate compliments. MDF is great too.
NICE!
I would be tempted to try one with the hinge on the front such that it opened forward instead.
Nice work! Sometimes you surprise me!
The toupee is looking extra rugged today. Love it!
I think so too!
It’s all that polonesan , virgin princess buttermilk he soaks it in when off camera!!!
Looks good
Awesome!
Great job! We built very similar for our fire department years ago. But not as PROHO as yours.
Dang ProHo, I felt that Hemingway quote. Not that often anymore, does a quote hit me like a ton of bricks, but that one did.
The toe screw jig really hit home. I feel seen. I need bigger clamps.
Great job
Prohogasm material right there 👌👏
