  • Thanks for posting this. I worked as a leasing agent for homes 10 years ago and this is what we ran into a lot. Sometimes these scammers would say they are doctors who left the country on a mission trip, were in an accident and seeking medical help somewhere else, they need someone to just take care of their house temporarily, etc. They often would have an excuse of why they are no longer using a realtor and sometimes will tell people to ignore the lock box on the door or just cut it off. I have even ran into somebody who sent a large security deposit and first months rent to a scammer and we’re living in one of our houses that we were getting ready to do construction on. We couldn’t get their money back, but we gave them some money to help them out. These guys are jerks and will always try and make it quick buck. I always tell renters to never give money to anyone they have not met in person. There are also ways to check to make sure who is actually the owner of the home.

Instead, teach them useful things, like crafting, repairing, cooking, etc. Things to get them started, to enable them to access basic professions, like working in factories, even if it's not a great work to do due to ethics and payments in poor countries, it is a start, better than nothing. • First of your videos I've seen. Thanks for educating the public about criminal con techniques. When I was way younger, I ran into my first conman -- con woman, actually. She had a plausible story about immediately needing a significant amount of money in a crisis. Out of compassion I was willing to help her, but she kept adding conditions to giving that help. They escalated to her wanting me to get money and meet her at a semi-secluded place. Alone. Her growing conditions raised my suspicions, and I withdrew my willingness to help. She changed tactics and tried a range of manipulations from promises of sex to threats. I called police instead. A couple years later I saw the same woman on TV. She'd been arrested and was later convicted of multiple murders.
