*This is undoubtedly one of the most impressive fight scenes in cinema. Both fighters possess exceptional skill, but Matt's overconfidence and arrogance proved to be his downfall. I've just gotta say, out of all the acting and martial arts athleticism on display here, the single shot that sold this fight scene to me the hardest was that fall after the sweep. Landing on the shoulders like that and just folding up. Like goddamn that looks like it hurt. Even in high octane movie fights you totally need moments like that to ground the fight scene. Superb fight scene and one of my all time favorites. Also all the credit to infusing a character with brief screen time with all kinds of charisma and personality. The little smirks and body language were perfect. And the way the camera isn't afraid to hold and actually show what's going on. Dang this scene is gold.
@GuiltyKit2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. That jack knife by Mullins is excellent. One of the issues I have with White's fight scenes is that they usually don't look real even though White and his opponents are capable fighters. Mullins really sold this scene for me.

did anyone catch this ? in the beginning of the fight: Michael Jai White and Matt Mullins fought randomly that's until Matt Mullins caught Michael with a spinning air kick. and at that moment Michael figured out Matts weakness MATT WAS ONLY DEFENDING HIS LEFT SIDE, AND KEPT HIS RIGHT SIDE WIDE OPEN FOR AN ATTACK !!! The only question that is left: how come Michael was able to read this ? was Matt injured ? was he physically weak on the right side ? Note: Keep in mind, I'm asking these questions within the context of the film. I'm asking about the nature of the characters within the film. whats so fascinating about this film, is that this is the only Martial Arts film where you see tactics, game-plan, strategy every little detail within the realm of martial arts was played out in this film as if it were a chess game.

I love the moment at 2:04 where Price is still trying to be cocky and is about to show off some shit. Gets beat out of him REAL quick, lol. After that roundhouse fake-out it's all over, Bone is just hitting him at will. Amazing fight choreography, storytelling and character set-up. The best action scenes are also stories in miniature, and this is one of the best. (Also... love the taking-off-the-jacket moment, when Price thinks he has successfully taken Bone's measure, and hasn't realized that it's actually exactly the reverse. Bone just flat-out gets in his head and out-thinks him. Another great piece of fight scene storytelling.)

What's great about this scene is most of the fights in this film are focused on brute force. MJW takes on huge burly opponents and that's all fun and awesome too. But here.. this fight is where he shows his finesse. This fight is far more about thinking and he doesn't win the fight by strength or even skill but he wins by out-thinking his opponent and with a couple of VERY clever misdirects he gets the upper hand in the fight.

Yeah. That jack knife by Mullins is excellent. One of the issues I have with White's fight scenes is that they usually don't look real even though White and his opponents are capable fighters. Mullins really sold this scene for me.
The fact his toes touched the ground while foldin up is crazy💀
Yea you FELT that fall... Like goddamn that had to hurt!
Probably a stunt double because they cut just before we saw Michael hit his leg. Must've hurt for stuntman.
Well said. The fact the audience knows these things and filmmakers do not is blaspheme worthy of prison time.
This was such an underated action film. The fights were well choreographed and still manages to entertain me. Matt and Micheal did a great job in this scene.
Unfortunately, if you have any experience in martial arts, it is clear that they either didn't care or knew almost nothing about realistic fighting. To be blunt, they look like olympic taekwondo practitioners trying to score points rather two brutal dudes which try to hurt each other.

Jesus, even choreographed, that is an incredibly impressive display.`
Benj-Va, I like when Jai kicked Matt's support leg out from under him b4 he got full rotation on his lead leg kick!
"Because it's choreographed"
@@alg3rn0n73 wait till he hears that all fight scenes are choreographed
@@kilmlox9608 I read the comment numerous times to see if I was misunderstanding it lol
I agree very real life reproduction of two men with similar fighting skills though one is ultimately superior
This is some chosen one fight type shit lmao, I mean Bone is like way out of his weight class against this guy
Nicely choreographed.
It is a pity that MJW has played in so few good movies. He is so skilled.
Yeah. He definitely does not get the type of face exposure that he deserves.
@@han3wmanwukong125 he shoulda been black panther But he doesn't work with Hollywood for a reason
@@han3wmanwukong125 wdym?
Probably because he refused to sell his soul like alot of the other actors
He’s been in a bunch of movies, they’re just not very popular. There’s a lot of stuff on Tubi. Hollywood doesn’t want to see a strong black man with a black belt in nine different forms of martial arts, they would rather see a black man in a dress Michael Jai White is a great actor but he’s not that popular and Tyler perry is

Haven’t seen any comment take note of it, but the part where Franklin yells “O’Hara!” was inspired by Enter The Dragon when O’Hara broke the glass bottles to combat Bruce Lee and the Master yells his name. Same actor too. Very cool touch!
Sounded familiar. Good call!
Oh gosh, Michael Jay White is the new Chuck Norris!
As soon as he took off the jacket, he lost his knowledge to fight
yes, unrealistic.
Tuxedo skills
Over confidence
😂
Not too mention that his opponent could have grabbed his tie and used his tie against him.
A good fight scene is made when the two performers actually know how to fight. No need for sophisticated editing or constant shakiness to cover up poor choreography. They both know how to actually fight. Watch some interviews with Jackie Chan on directing fight choreography
They are like dancing.
Funny because I was going to comment about how slow predictable choreographed it was. With bad camera work showing missed hits..
@@mikieson really?
I wonder if Michael Jai White using a stuntman at some points?
@@mikieson I’d much rather take a few missed hits then 60 cuts in 10 seconds of film
1:33 Bone tries to finish the combination with a jumping kick that KO'd at least two other opponents earlier in the movie. But Price, being a more skilled opponent, anticipated it, blocked, and countered with his own combination. I don't know if we're meant to make that connection but I thought it was neat.
Magnificently choreographed! 🥋
This is one of the best fight scenes ever created. I loved the character of the suited man, he was charismatic, debonair, funny in addition to being a phenomenally skilled martial artist! His character remains my favorite screen martial artist! Understandably, I was delighted to find that he has this channel.

Trading with an expert is the best strategy for newbies and busy investors who have little or no time to monitor trade
I strongly advise you against self trading, it's really dangerous and had brought so many investors down, you need someone with the knowledge and strategies, someone dedicated to the crypto currency market business, and will strongly recommend expert Mr Celso Fx Lorenzo

Matt Mullins held his own in this fight. Brilliant and fluid fighting from both of them.
Till he got cocky and pointed at his chin, bad move.
He did until he took off his jacket & began acting cocky. That was when the fight turn into Bones favor.
that leg sweep tho

Best fight scene ever in a movie!
Incredible and beautiful fight scene to watch. It's next to real and authentic. Most Hollywood movies use computers to make the fight scenes to be super speed that as the word suggests, they're superficial. There's got to be an element of authenticity and this scene delivers that...
This is one of my most favourite fight scenes in a movie. I know it was choreographed, but it felt so natural. It felt like parts of it were improvised.
60% camera effect
Obviously it’s choreographed but how MJW moves like that while being that big is insane
I reckon it has alot to do with how shredded he is. It's not like he's fat, he's built like an athlete.

2:05 that combo kick, the second kick was faked to the head, which drew the guard, and boom, gut, head, such a sweet move that totally went unnoticed until slowed down, so much technical skill going on here, But Itachi vs Sasuke still my favorite fight scene

1:04 I want a suit in which I can move that way and still looks good. Now a days the suits or basic formal attires are so poorly made that you can't even walk it them without feeling that if you move a bit more freely the threads will tear. Also, amazing movement in a freaking suit. To be able to do that even with the help of retakes is amazing. Not to mention the camera work or lack of being crucial to seeing their raw talent. None of that Jason Bourne bullcrap, where I imagine the camera man having to do all the jujitsu with the camera to hide the lack of talent.
That quadruple kick at 2:05 looks beautiful at half speed
Bruh that shit looks fast in slow mo
did anyone catch this ? in the beginning of the fight: Michael Jai White and Matt Mullins fought randomly that's until Matt Mullins caught Michael with a spinning air kick. and at that moment Michael figured out Matts weakness MATT WAS ONLY DEFENDING HIS LEFT SIDE, AND KEPT HIS RIGHT SIDE WIDE OPEN FOR AN ATTACK !!!
Mayssan Haddad They made the movie specifically with that in mind. One reason why its a personal favorite martial arts movie of mine. Remember that he plays chess with the old man.. it's to later highlight how all of his thought process play out like chess all the way to his ultimate goal of getting revenge and helping the surviving members of his friends family.
Everything except blood..
best michael jai white movie, great read too on the technical aspect. i wish this has a sequel. feels like "the vanishing son" type but movie
You never seen IP man then clearly!
Guess you haven’t watched Bruce Lee movies
One of the greatest fight scenes of all time
Underrated movie, need to watch it again. I love how Michael's character is basically Kazama Kiryu.
Tell me the name of the movie please
@@BANDOTA Blood and Bone, unless you're asking about Kiryu who's the protagonist of the Yakuza series of videogames.
I know this is a movie, but both of these guys would put a serious beating on normal folks. Both are black belts in different arts, and they had to AMAZINGLY slow their attacks down for this movie so you could see their strikes.
Matt X I'd kick both of their asses.
Ekis
Also, they both pulled this off while wearing Timbs and dress shoes.
If Mullins' character couldn't beat him, imagine a regular guy taking on MJW
False. Artists like Bruce Lee had to do this back in the day but nowadays it’s just not true at all.
Matt Mullins is an absolutely amazing martial artist!
Mullins style looks like old Taekwondo
Love this fight ... could quite happily watch it every day for the rest of my life :-)
What's great about this scene is most of the fights in this film are focused on brute force.
No he won because hes the maim character
I like to think these two sparred irl to determine who would win in this fight scene, and then, determine how the film would progress depending on who won
I just want the guy who made that indestructible suit for that arrogant guy.
This reminds me one of the big fights i had a couple years ago. I was walking with my lovely fiancee and 3 thugs out of nowhere started to annoy us and pushed my girlfriend. Moments later they started beating my fiancee and another bystander said: Yo dude, aren't you gonna help? So me, the bystander and the 3 thugs all started beating my fiancee.
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Lmaooo

I was halfway through the fight before I realized MJW never took off his timbs. That's a credit to the talent of both men.
