  • I recommended this song to a friend who had impregnated his Gf, dude was so confused about the whole thing. He even thought of running away. I sent him the song, a week passed he came back to me. He said dude we moving in together, to date he references this song as the one that made a mark in his life and made him turnaround. This song preaches real life. • I'm class of 2012, remember in high school when I got my gf pregnant at 17 and was terrified. Few months shy of going out on my own and finding out how the world truly works. Heard this song and broke down in tears. Made me ashamed of the cowardness I was feeling. I grew up without a father, yet I was considering abortion. When he said "but what about your seed nigga" I knew I had to man up. Fast forward to now I'm 8 years married with 4 beautiful children by the same woman I was with since 16. I'm pro Choice but anybody going through it needs to really think about it. Almost missed out on the most precious things in my life. Being a father, the best father you can be, is the most rewarding feeling in the world.

  • I'm hearing J Cole's older music for the first time now and realize - he's always been a conscious rapper. Talking about life and its ups and downs, giving his perspective. Hip Hop is not all about money and drugs like the mainstream wants it to be. Real hip hop is lyricism, poetry and about elevating the way you think & feel. That's why I resonate with Cole's music. This is just my opinion 💯

  • I’ll share something with y’all. I got a side pregnant because at the time I wasn’t really about the whole relationship thing, just only worrying about myself. When she told me I had no words, instead I kept quiet trying to figure out how do I tell her that this ain’t the move. I finally let her know what’s on my mind. “We can’t bring a baby in this world, how we gonna make it work? We’re not even together and we don’t love each other, how does this make sense?” We haven’t talked for a few days, I came across this song when he first dropped it back in 2011, & I probably heard this song about 4 times just thinking like damn, this song be talking about my situation… next time I saw her I apologized, told her I was just afraid. Now I have a son who’s 7 months old, and looks at me like I’m his biggest hero. I am so grateful for him. This song changed my perspective and made me man up. 💯

  • I said those same words she did and I meant every fucking word. I listened to this song while crying on the floor holding my beautiful 3 year old little boy. See shit ain't easy but my God it is WORTH IT. To have this innocent reflection of yourself waking you up with the sweetest "Mommy" you've ever heard is worth the struggle. His daddy chose the street just like my daddy did and that's ok. My son's dad knows my only expectation of him is to "Be the type of father YOU choose to be" so yeah I've let him inside the 3 times he's shown up and I don't ever call or hit him up for anything. I'll never change my number or my address but our life ain't stopped. In fact our life has become so beautiful that i barely think of "daddy" because I am too caught up enjoying the blessing that doctors said would NEVER be gifted to me. I am 2 semesters away from a college degree so I can give my boy the life he deserves. The life I never had. When the bills come and my heart sinks to my stomach, God has shown up every time and I somehow rub two pennies together to keep our lights on. Then I take my boy outside to play to distract me from the tears while I tell myself that it won't be like this for much longer. Head up, crown straight bc a future King is paying attention to how a Queen's crown sits. It's so worth it yall. You can't fight what God's got planned for you so embrace it and love it. You are worth it.

    • i cant believe I am back at this song crying, after all these years. My ex of 6 years cheated on me when I was 9 months pregnant. DCPP got involved and I lost custody of my daughter at 3 mnths old because I let him come visit and his dumb ass was nodding out. we were both addicts, I got clean, he wouldn't.. but I convinced myself I could help him. That seeing this perfect tiny creature that we created would make him see life is worthwhile. It took a long time to accept that no amount of love, would make him change. I vividly remember the sore eyes from the TEARS, trembles, sleepless nights all because of some dumb ass 'man' had my convinced I was nothing without him. My babygirl is 3 years old now, DCPP put us through hell but you better believe I got my baby back, stayed sober, got us an apt, a car, a stable life!! Years of doing this should alone, man, there are no words to describe the pain and heartbreak I STILL feel. I didnt sign up to me a singlr mom, but here I am. My father OD'd when I was 9. I never wanted that for my daughter. I cant change him but I sure as shit changed myself. 2 years of healing and he ha the audacity to call me from jail... I still care about him and he knows that, he uses it against me. I will Never allow myself back into that mess but cant let go of the hope that one day my daughter will know her father. If any of you ladies are doubting what to do, PLEASE take my advice, do not let a man influence your decision. Good or bad, YOU live with the decision, and more importantly, that babys gotta live with the deadbeat.
