Coming from S21 that I used regularly with or without case, I'm confident to say it doesn't matter much for protection if your aim is to keep the phone looking pristine after years. Dust will find their way between the gap on the case, the rubber from case leave marks on the phone and so on. I stopped using screen protector for more than 2 years, and my screen still looks fine with barely noticeable wear. But still , I like this video where the phone dropped naked. At least I know my new S23+ can handle drop that much without immediately broken. With so many 2 factors authorization involved nowadays, it's hard to dispose old phones without making sure I've backup and transfer every important stuffs.
Never take your phone out of the case. Even in the house, I dropped mine onto the hard tile floor. Smashing!🤦
Yup, sucks
Since I use Spigen Ultra Hybrid cases on my Samsungs for the last couple of years I had only one screen crash. The phone was lying on the floor and I dropped a big cup full of water on the middle of the screen. It had no chance to survive...
@@sprzedamkoc7130 ouch!
I have never used any case for my phone :D
@@phamad I'm too reckless with my phone's. I have to use a case. 👍
I just got the Galaxy S23 just over a week ago. I'm extremely careful with it, have a case on it and a screen protector. I couldn't imagine already dropping it. I'd be so mad. Lol. These videos are entertaining to watch though. I've watched a few of your videos now and enjoy them. Great job and keep up the good work. Stay safe.
I too owns an S23 and within 10 days of my purchase it dropped from my pants pocket (while driving a scooter) to the road. But I was lucky that I was able to find my phone undamaged lying on the road as there were no vehicles behind me. Yes its bcoz of the case my phone survived the drop (But if there was a vehicle behind me, it would have passed over it and my phone would have totally damaged). The case didn't broke but had many scratches and dents on it (It was a transparent hard case). After this incident I didn't wanted to take a risk and purchased a more expensive rugged type case for my S23 (Ringke Fusion X Camo).
I dropped twice I don't like case and screen because every year I change my phone
@@SPAN25 Does your case protect your cell phone well? thinking about buying it
@@NathanHpcFingerstyle Ya its a good case and I still use it. Fortunately after that incident I havent dropped yet.
@@SPAN25 Dude, because of your comment, I went to see some reviews and research about it and I ended up buying two haha, one transparent and one covered, as I like to use documents behind the cover, I prefer it to be covered
I hate to say this but the company markets these glasses to be tough but in reality, they are weak, after all, jerryrigevery thing favorite dialogue glass is glass and it breaks and scratches at the level of 6 with deeper groves on level 7
yup
Tougher glass becomes more scratch resistant, not crack resistant. But overall I feel like there hasn't been much improvement since gorilla glass 4. I remember 3 was inferior
Glass it's always going to be glass. There's not much to be done
Bro even diamonds break upon sufficient pressure
it's still going to break but takes longer than without nothing on screen
I dont get the point of these expensive glass back etc. Because most people out cases anyways why do company market these ? And most importantly why do consumer think its important ? I am someone who likes plastic back with metal frame phones because of the durability reason. What'd your opinion on this ? Also thanks for the great video! And thanks for always being active in the comment section. I have been a long time watcher of yours. Glad to see you reached 100k.
because they wanted to feel premium and said "ew plastic back"
Thank you! I think its just about the premium feel and might be a little about heat transfer as well.
Because it feels better in the hand. Simple as that.
@@PBKreviews but then why out a case for safety? I mean most do that anyways.
@@PBKreviews tell me, what feelings arise from being with a premium-class phone in a service center? changing the back cover?))
Can we conclude that, after all this years of drop test, 99% of the phones will break the glass on impact with concrete and move on? The 1% are phones with plastic screens(MIL certified) and some phones with good design on the chasis vs screen height.
Pretty obvious. It's just good to see *how much* damage the drop does to various phones. No one is expecting some of the most technologically sophisticated, advanced tech to be impeccably shock/drop-proof. Such videos just remind how extra-careful we have to be with these phones.
Try Huawei Mate 50 pro Kunlun edition
Plastic screen? Any example, please? By my point of view drop-proofness should be something that need to be critically improved, much more if we consider that smartphones are almost equal in any other aspect, year after year: batteries, screens, cameras (the vanilla S23 and iPhone 14 are great examples for this, not much new on sight). However, manufacturers earn money from our drops. In other words, they are not interested in improving it. Especially, when none of them are signified to be great at this: no competence for this crown.
Just uploaded the video on the mate 50 pro drop test.
@@PBKreviews great! Keen to watch it!
thankyou, most drops i saw in real life were from the ear level, so even lower chances to escape cracking
You say there's no difference from the ultra but, while the plus is stil cracked, it seems to me that the damage is less: only a crack in the corner on the plus, but the whole screen cracked on the ultra (and that COULD give you problems with the touch, like it happened to one of my friends with an A33). 🤔 Still: it's sad that my old Mate 10Pro with gorilla glass 2 is more indestructible than all the modern phones with gorilla glass victus 2 feather fall -5 fall damage (about 5 gorilla glass iterations later)... =(
Yeah, I basically meant both cracked regardless of the extent of the damage. But yep, they need to adopt a better solution like the kunlun glass of the mate 50 and 60.
@@PBKreviews That would be great. =) I hope it'll become standard.
"the Kunlun glass that Huawei uses on the Mate 50 Pro [can withstand drops like this]" I suppose, for fairness, there is a video done by you with the same test applied on this Huawei model?
will try to do it soon
Sure maybe the Chinese glass is better doubtful but I'm not gonna let China eff me.
i think it performed significantly better than the s23 ultra which was way more vulnerable to the curved display
👍
one thing I love about this phone is the sound, is so high quality you can hear every instrument of the music ur hearing without headphones,, but I dont like very much the battery, I have to charge it a couple times a day
👍
Ahhh, those slap sounds squeezing my heart)
lol :)
Me too
I wonder why you don't test it one 1m height as coring claims to see. is their claim true or false.
Well if its breaking already at my waist height drop, I'm sure it would break at even higher height. 1m should be slightly higher than my waist I would say.
Thank you for your dedication.
You're welcome
Using LG Q Stylus+ for 6 years now. Its military grade. Only complaint is SOT less than 3 hours.
Thank you for the test i have s23 plus.
No problem 👍
I swear the glass on the s10 was the toughest ever... I dropped that thing a million times and not a single scratch or crack anywhere...
👍
Same with the s7
@@elcapitan1244u mean s7 edge because i ve seen in drop test that the regular s7 gets fked after one front drop
@@elcapitan1244my s7 edge cracked twice while lyin flat on the screen 😂
You just didn't drop it on its face on the concrete surface!
Finally you really 100k congratulations 🎉
Thanks! 😃
Can you perform drop test on Huawei Mate 50 Pro kunlun edition?
Hi, drop tests have been done by many people on that phone already, or else I would consider doing it.
You should start from your pant pocket high because that's where most people drop their phones from.
He literally did
Samsungs used to be way more tough.
If we use a good quality armor case and scratch guard, it can withstand low height drops with no damage to the body.
yup
In India there are many scratch guards ranging from INR 200 (approx 2.2 US$) to INR 1200 【13.2 US$ (I mean nilkin chinese make)]. Regardless of the amount, all cannot withstand high impact drops. Either the corner will break a bit (1 mm diameter) first time. Then the crack will spread each time only when the phone is dropped again. So better to buy any scratch guard for less than INR 500 in case of India to avoid wasting the money.
Otter box defender pro series case.
Modern electronics are all fancy but not durable. Older electronics are not fancy but more durable and practical
yup
The only difference is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 equiped smartphone would have a couple of cracks more from this kind of drops. Even if this phone has Victus 2 protection, one need to definitely change their Display or Back glass. These kind of false protection claims will only help to increase the smartphone price. Whether its Corning Gorilla glass 3 or Victus 2, its always advisable to have good case for ur smartphone.
👍
Doesn't it take a while to show white horizontal lines on screen indicating the phone's display is smashed
There aren't always white lines on broken screens since most of the times its just the glass that is damaged and not the screen itself. But if the screen itself is damaged then yeah lines or dark spots would start to appear. How long always varies.
Nice video, i dont going to let it fall because if i drop it, it will die in any way posible and explode when i am sleeping
lol thanks :)
I wish I had a job like this, lol
Phones these days are too heavy to tank drops like they used to
most phones yeah but check out the Huawei Mate 50 pro with Kunlun glass, won't break when dropped like this.
Can you test the Huawei mate 50 pro??
yeah will do it soon
Can't wait for the OnePlus 11 5G disassembly 🥰
😃👍 soon
@@PBKreviews Ok fine 🤓👍
The fact that all companies keep saying the grades of improvements keep getting better BUT nope !!

what you will do with this phone after that
I usually sell off the phones after the videos to recoup costs for future videos
Nice more like this.

Classic psychopath beating followed by dissection, all recorded with a calm voiceover.
lol
Thanks!
Thank you! and you're welcome 👍
Gorilla "Victims" 2? Hahaha. New version, more marketing, but just glass. Anyway, are you testing vanilla S23 also? Lighter, smaller... More chances to perform better
👍. The S22 from last year also cracked on first drop and it was lighter, so I'm almost positive the vanilla S23 will also crack after the results of the plus. So I don't think I will be spending anymore money to try it out haha already spent a lot on these
@@PBKreviews understood. Thanks for the answer! By the way, I searched your Mate 50 Pro drop test and I couldn't find it. I saw that most drop test out there for that Huawei smartphone are performed with the screen protector layer that Mate 50 pro brings installed by default! It seems to be an unfair advantage for the Kunlun glass It can be a better glass, but let's test it naked! (It is not a critic to your job, on the contrary, you peel protectors off as soon as you unbox the subject in each test). Keep doing like that, your job is amazing! Congrats!
Thanks
You're welcome
I just got my galexy s23 and this scares me one drop and it's fucked. I upgraded from a galexy a52 and I dropped that straight up on concrete maybe 6 or 7 times zero breaks in the glass. But I did drop it and the lcd cable broke inside.
@PBKreviews I don't know why people think that flat glass was gonna make any big difference in drops over curved glass? I love a curved display.
The curved glass is more fragile when the phone hit onto the corner of the curved glass. Most cases don't protect curved glass completely, they still protude. Curved glass create bothersome reflections and less brightness on the curved part. To each their own, but I'll never like curved displays...
@D. Shadocx Still flat glass is just as fragile. It's just curved glass is slightly worse. They will crack and shatter just the same. I had a Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+, and I never had problems enough to want to switch to completely flat glass. You might as well enjoy the look and feel of curved displays. No one ever talks about the benefits of curved display. They make phones thinner than they are, they feel thinner, and they feel really nice. Makes content more enjoyable.
@@doncallahancallahan1308 as I said, to each their own, I have my opinion, you have your opinion. Slimmer in width? which I dislike, not trying to get remote control like Sony Xperias. Content more enjoyable when the display is dimmer around the curve and it reflects surrounding lights sources? Let's end this here, buy your phones curved displays and I'll buy mine with flat ones.
@D. Shadocx Oh, don't worry, I am. But don't think I'm close-minded. I'll buy a phone with a flat display. I'm not telling you what to buy. But people like you focus too much on the negative about curved displays.
And I'm not saying you don't have valid con's about curved displays. But i don't think they're that serious.
Watch from pakistan 🇵🇰 😍 😊 😀 ♥️ dude

My galaxy s 9 plus. Is much tougher glass ..wow Been thinking about getting the s23 .. Smaller phone is better for me . Even this s 9 plus is heavy awkward. Still lightning fast though 4 g lte 😅 all kidding aside no broken glass here 5 year counting.
Why is it not recommended to submerge this into water even though it's the same IP68 rated as other waterproof phones? I just read this everywhere but I don't get it. Did or would you try?
Because it's a water resistance rating and not water proof. The device is not like to allow water to breach its seals, but nothing is guaranteed. I've run my S-series devices under faucets and taken them in lake/river with no ill effects. Rinse with fresh water afterwards.
@@warrenbraswell9785 But other IP68 rated devices are waterproof, like the iPhones or Pixels. So IP68 should be the same, no?
So a phone isn't completly waterproof: - temperature changes can cause the seals to break or weaken. - physical damage to the device, such as cracks or scratches. - the rating is given under controlled laboratory conditions and may not take into account the different scenarios that a device can be exposed to in the real world. Something about water you might know and don't know. It's states solid (ice), liquid and gas (vapor). It's said, but to my knowledge not proven, that vapor can cause damage over time. - The contamination of the water such as salt (sweat) or others that can acidify water that can cause seals to wear out. Tl;dr The accidental drop in the toilet won't break it, just don't pee on it every day.
@@ZotmundSzele ip 68 isn't "waterproof" Waterproof means it can completely withstand water but phones have limits
@@dirtydirtsgt4751 Ok, but in phone and IP rating terms you can submerge them for 30 mins in 1,5m water. So I don't see why they still don't recommend it. IP 54 and such is ok. That's what I mean.
This video is tricked, the mobile did less damage because it had the airplane mode activated🤣🤣🤙🤙

@@PBKreviews I wish you luck then.
Durability of glass has not improved at all, even though there is always new version of gorilla glass which does not mean shit.
It is all marketing hype. They want the phone to break so you can buy another.
Please stop dropping it give it to me Would be grateful 😅
haha sorry, just had to finish with the S22 series for now since I had requests to do it.
please look at the interior designs of your samsung watches, you are loved, greetings from turkey, adana
Greetings and thank you. I will consider doing watches in the future. 👍 Stay safe
Dropped mine from 28" in the house on to a wooden floor, screen is SHATTERED. I'm so pissed. This had the Samsung case around it too, made no difference. It's pathetic, so disappointed.
You should add a screen protector too. I use a tempered glass one, with UV glue. Seems efficient, but hard to apply.

First drop, and it craks.
lol yeah
All the corning gorilla glass development and still they smash at waist height.
yupp
But gorilla keeps being "the best" for people, thus selling a lot of glasses.
i hope you have samsung care
lol nope didn't have it.
ok. maybe just use a case lol
lol
Why you don t do that with iphone??????
Can't give this guy any credit, I only see drop tests on galaxies why not other brands? Then you bash samsung but you only test samsung, there a much better phone reviewers doing controlled tests not just on samsung phone and fyi any modern flagship cracks on the 1st drop phones are getting bigger and heavier and thus less durable.
First, I don't often do drop tests that's why I don't have many different brands. Second I've done it on iPhone also, and I'm not bashing on anyone, just doing my tests and providing the results. Third, you're wrong, there are other phones out there which don't crack even after throwing it down many times from higher heights. I will be doing a drop test on some of those phones in the near future once they arrive to me. So if you're interested you can stay tuned and watch those, if not no worries, everyone has the right to their own opinions. 😃👍
