I think this is the first time I've seen a guitar video of them above 480p.
They are an old band sooo😂😂
@@witheringflower3832 yeah I remember trying to learn some of their stuff like 10 years ago. Someone had ripped the video from a young guitar magazine dvd and put it on youtube. So it was like 240p and sounded like shit. But i watched it over and over trying to figure things out without any english subtitles lol.
@@saintlotus93 AHaHAHAHAHAHAA! Those were the days!
Same It's so hard finding new/good videos of them cause they're all from so long ago
Hahahaha
Toshiya : « guitare is too hard » So instead He decided to become one of the most excentrique and badass bass player ! Oh and I’m sure He think of his bass as a contrabass.
I remember him telling that same story around the Vulgarism era and even then it was so silly to me how he became one of the best bassists in Jrock lmao.
Crazy. His slapping/strumming technique alone is incredibly hard to pull off. Guy has fingers stronger then Wolverine.
Bass is harder to play. Have longer neck so more sounds and spots to press.
@@arieswildchildIt doesn’t have more spots, It usually has less than a guitar but the neck is bigger because the frets are bigger too, both bass an guitar have between 22 and 24 frets and that multiplies for the number of strings the instrument has which is normally 6 for guitars and 4 in bass so in a guitar you would have 132-144 spots to press and in a bass 88-96, which by no means is an indication that one is more difficult than the other
Yep, Diru has some of the best interplay between guitar parts and bass parts ever recorded.
Toshiya is one of the MOST underrated musicians on the planet. Hell, the whole group is 🖤
yeah the whole band is underrated. I have been a fan since 2008 seeing them grow has been amazing.
Just because they are less known than for example Nickelback doesnt mean they are underrated. I'm sure professional musicians praise Dir en Grey. And while commercial success is important too, staying true to yourself and having a crowd that appreciates you for that is more important. Mass Appeal =/= Success as an artist
Dir en Grey is not underrated at all. Try La'cryma Christi 😂
@@SK-oz8yx shuse is from lacryma Christi is my dad lol
I never thought that i would see DIR EN GREY and D'ERLANGER here in Loudwire. Positively surprised! Keep bringing japanese bands to a larger audience. There's tons of amazing bands that almost nobody never heard about there.
Leandro Souza yes
Leandro Souza Same! I really like how Die threw in a D’erlanger riff, but not super surprised cuz he’s like their biggest fan
It’s crazy I’m obsessed with these guys and just yesterday loudwire had my old drummer in a video. Omg!!!
TRUE!
@@fleef69 flew from Puerto Rico to catch the GazettE in New York last year, and I'm still recovering. Probably the best show I've been to. Could barely speak for a while after 😂 definitely one of the best bands from Japan
I just saw them live in Dec, standing mere feet away from Die and Kyo. Hands down, in over 40 years of going to concerts, the best experience of my life, seeing DEG in a venue that held 450. And yes, Die's hair really is that beautiful.
His hair is godlike. Also, you're so lucky! I saw them at Download, but their set was cut short because of the typically terrible British weather.
Saw them too in December at the House of blues in Houston Texas. It was amazing
I saw them at the Regent in December and yes, especially with that fan blowing his hair the entire show definitely made it 10x better.
Saw em at Ace of Spades! Oh man- it was just unreal!!
Daniel Oh my god, his stare is too powerful. He once stared in my direction, and I did a big ol’ NOPE cause I couldn’t handle how perfect and intense his face is. If I ever see them live again...I’m gonna fucking win.
This was unexpected and I loved it. Now bring shy Kyo for a quick interview about his writing.
I would kill to see this.
Kyo seems to be opening up a bit more in interviews lately, but all he does is smoke like 50 cigs and laugh
An interview with Kyo? That would be a helluva video
he isnt shy you piss him off he will boot you
I need this.
I used to listen to these guys religiously years ago. It’s good to see this finally omg.
Cheers
Same here! :) I nearly cried re-listening to their old stuff
Silvia Fox man me too ! I still barely know any Of the Japanese language personally but their creativity and music has always made me happy. I still have two of the cds in my studio lol
I've been religiously listening to them since 2004. Day in, day out. 💖🎶🎵
Lili Blais ❤️❤️❤️
Arche is one of the best metal albums I've ever heard. WAY ahead of its time. That album will change the way you look at music. Pulled me out of the depths of depression
Crazy as it sounds but arche was one of the greatest peices of music i have ever listened to man
Totally a truth.
yes! helped with depression for sure these guys are awesomeee
How is that arche pulled you out of depression...?
@@ISoHEoBASSIST it's hard to say, specifically. Music itself can promote healing on inordinate levels. But when you can relate to the aggression and darkness on a personal level, conversely, it can be the dim light shining in the dark. It was for me.
Their bassist is soooo sick! What a great player. I gotta listen to more of them, I only have uroboros
You have to listen to their next album, Dum Spiro Spero. Those two albums are considered as their finest work.
Go through all of their albums. They change so much from album to album. My favorite from their recent work is Arche by far.
do yourself a favor and find Vulgar. Thank me later.
Every bit of their stuff is awesome. My personal favorite album is Vulgar but everything is so different and so good
I love all their albums, especially Arche
One of my favorite metal bands hands down.
Samee
SAAAAME!!!
saaaameeee!
whoa did i just see you on a Punk Rock MBA video?
@@scottsmith8162 Yep. That was me. Haha.
For me Toshiya is a genius. The way he compose the lines in the songs are amazingly beautiful.
Die's right hand is so precise it's really tight
I love the tattoo! it‘s so cool
I slap like for epic bass.
Oz Osgood EPIC BASS
Wise choice.
LMAO SLAP LIKE NOW
What's up *SLEPAHS*
S L A P P E R S
As soon as Die starting playing the riff to Schwein no Isu, I lost it! So cool seeing the guys play riffs at above 480p lol
I could watch a video of them playing riffs for an hour straight
Trueee!!!
@@hitsurei Honestly goes for all of them...Shinya on his drums? Yes please!!
Wish they were set up with a better tone at least...
I never noticed how good Die's right hand technique is.
Yes, it looks a little unorthodox, but it's tight af.
seeing this really made me happy for some type of reason, they should do a 10 most unforgettable kyo moments and DEG moments. that’d be cool to see
That would be an amazing video. haha
I don't honestly think that's a good idea. Knowing the way they've approached Diru before, they would only include stuff from the 2000~2010 era, and that's seriously going to give the wrong impression of the band. And mostly of Kyo. As Die stated, they changed a lot over the years. I think that would be misleading for people who have never heard of them and go listen to the band expecting something entirely different (watch the many changes they've experienced in the last 10 years). Also, I'm sure they won't pay attention to any "unforgettable moments" from more recent years.
音楽性とか世界観は過激なのにオフでの紳士的な対応を見ていると、この人達が売れ続けている理由が分かる。
One of my favourite bands. Their sound is just unique. Dir En Grey changed my understanding of music.
I love watching their catalogue evolve. Such a unique and great sound for each album.
i was seriously like "why is Shinya playing guitar?" for like 2 seconds. . .
That’d be a sight
D. O. Brndo so you can't steal da riffs. Dir en grey fan since 2010.🤘
@Karina Peters ossankon 😂 (ossan is short for ojisan, uncle, middle aged men)
same here 😂 the hairstyle suits him
Where's shinya btw?
Dir en grey is Japanese music royalty! Been a fan since 2002 and it’s been an amazing 20 years since enjoying their creations!
Thank you so much for this intervviews! Dir en grey is my favorite band and I saw them last December after 4 years. It was amazing, the passion and talent from this guys is the reason I love them!
20年以上前からdirを知ってるが、まさか国際的バンドになるとは思わなかったな。
Die and Toshiya flexing ;-P Damn, they're so talented! Diru, one of Japan's finest metal bands.
I've been listening to these guys for nearly 12 years, and covered some of their songs with my friends' bands when I was younger. I also saw them when they played at Download, and just cried the whole time because I was so overjoyed.
I've been a fan for about 20 years, and although I don't listen as much these days I still love them to bits and am happy they're still going strong. They're always killing it. Once you become a fan of theirs you're a fan for life and it's something special.
Agreed! I'm a fan around 12 years and they keep fascinating and surprising me, I love this band to death!
Thank you so much for this! I could listen to hours of them just playing riffs. They are amazing. ❤️
These guys rock. Seriously, best modern Metal/Rock band in years.
I used to listen to them sooo much in my teenage years, I even went to two concerts... nice to see these guys are still making music
I'd love to see an interview with L'Arc-en-Ciel's Tetsuya, probably one of the most interesting melodic bass players ever.
Toshya is insane! Love his bass lines!
ライブや映像だとなかなか手元アップで観られないからこれは嬉しい。メンバー全員分やって欲しい。
I was lucky enough to have seen them live once like maybe 10 or so years ago and it was one of the best experiences of my life considering I never thought they would make it to the states back then. Eternally love Dir En Grey 🤍
I saw them years and years ago I was the 1st us show they did at the Limelight in NYC but haven’t seen them since 2009
One of my favorite bands! Hope to see more content with them
These guys are genius. I saw them live in December and it was amazing, I really hope they come back soon to my country
I love them for over more than 12 years, and they are never enough. I saw them twice in live, and I WANT to see diru again and again and again ...
Just twice for 12 years? :O
@@MatsushiiThisBIG yeah, unfortunately, they were twice in my country, so i had the chance for this two :)
yeah, no shows for us :( unfortunately I was young and I got to their music in 2015 so I missed it
I can't express how much I love this band
言葉から伝わる優しい人格 音楽とのギャップがファンを強烈に魅了し続けてる☺️
Good to see them get recognition for once!
Thanks Loudwire for doing a Dir en Grey centered video! I saw them for the first time in Houston TX this winter. I've been to a lot of shows and it was really incredible especially after being a fan for so long. Die really is beautiful IRL too, he's got a real Alucard thing going on lol
Ikr I was unintentionally staring at him for like two minutes and he got such an heartwarming smile too.
Super thankful for showing Dir en grey here gosh I'm so happy to see them. They're still my number one band forever, ever since they debuted years ago. Hope to see them in person someday soon :D
hopefully in PH soon! after the pandemic 😌
Dir En Grey will always be my favorite band. 🤘
I will always be indebted to Loudwire for introducing me to Dir En Grey. I don't think I could have discovered their music any other way.
Seeing them live again in about a week. I'm so excited
Where were you?
@@MatsushiiThisBIG I was in Helsinki, Finland!
@@bluesdrivemonster2546 good.
They're so good 🔥 🔥 🔥
I've waited a long time for this
Than you, thank you so much for having them and helping the Japanese musicians to be more openly recognized! It's so great to see them in these types of places. Nice surprises.
I love Dir En Grey so much! It would be sick if you guys interviewed Kyo. ❤️
I love D'ERLANGER!!! I love Dir en Grey's early music!! Kyo has some amazing vocals
Die and Toshiya is really awesome. I love Dir en Grey music and their metamorph~
Thank you so much for this ❤️
One of the best metal bands around
They need more attention! They don't have enough

I probably only started listening to Dir en grey about 3 months ago but I've been so hooked. Thank god they have a crazy number of albums to listen and catch up on
my fav band ever... thank you so much loudwire...
Their concerts are so unbelievably amazing and paralyzing. Thank you for this video please bring Kaoru and or Shinya too!
I was at their first live outside Asia in 2005 in Berlin. Can't believe it's been almost 16 years. I feel old now.
Oh I love this band! And their recent concert tour in Europe was a blast (still going on actually)
WHAT IS MY FAVORITE BAND DOING ON LOUDWIRE! MORE MORE I WANT MORE OF THEM
One Of The Greatest Bands
1999. The first time I listened to Dir En Grey. Now, more than 20 years later I'm still in love with this band. Akuro no Oka is still one of my top favorite songs and just love playing it on my acoustic.
This was an amazing stumble upon! Been listening since 2006!
Omg this is great! Thank you loudwire, and please feature more Japanese artists in the future!
They are so amazing and amusing to hear. Watching them playing is a different level of enjoyment. Love DIR EN GREY so much! Thank you for this video.
Die and Toshiya are literally GODSSS at playing the guitar and of course Karou (can’t forget about him) ❤️❤️
Would love to see more videos of them! 🖤
My favorite metal band!! Do more videos with them!
Can't believe I got to see them live not too long ago. Best xmas gift to myself ever
Saw them in Dallas last month. So awesome!
Love their band so much
Same
I've been waiting for this. Dir en grey, hands down, one of of my favorite visual kei band of all time.
They are not visual key for years bro, wake up
so what? read their interviews, they abandoned visual kei style like 10 years ago, jeez
@@rednek666 Bruh, stop being such a stickler. Arche released in 2014 and they(at least kyo) was still dressing up. It ain't that deep, fam.
@@dantelan-i-er5466 First of all, i`m not your bro, dude or fam, okay? Second, dressing up in different ways does not make them visual kei. It`s the certain style they don`t follow anymore, for many years.
@@rednek666 Bruh, calm yourself. You sound like you just came from a Klan rally. Maybe that's why your name is Rednek. 🤷♂️ But I read up on visual kei and I think I see your point. It's usually about long hair and androgynous styles.
Thanks, it is wonderful video. My favourite band since two decades. Diru is the best band in the world ever 😎
about freaking time!! more Japanese metal!!
Loved the Ningen wo Kaburu Riff.
Yeah!! More Dir En Grey! In my top 3 bands since Withering to Death!

Holy shit this brings back memories
I'm seeing them on the 8th of February and this just increased the hype for me
So glad I've had the chance to see them twice
dir en grey is awesome band ! ever
This band is seriously underrated. Oroboros is a fantastic album.
Uroboros is a name of album you're looking for.
