Modifying my homemade UTV's rear suspension to withstand the forces of towing the homemade 4x4 timber trailer. This MOD has been in my head since the day I started heavily loading the UTV's dump bed. It was super nice to ride around without anything loaded on it, nice and soft. But it is made for work not fun, so... Stiffer springs are in order. I want to haul stuff on it without compressing the rear too much and make the UTV squat less and handle better. This suspension MOD now leaves me with a stiff ride when unloaded but gives the capability of hauling SOO MUCH more in the back of the UTV. Since I'm down with the mainstream flu I only managed to throw this video together this week. Next week when the health gets better I will return to the hydraulic wood splitter project. So stay tuned!

Sorry guys & girls, I'm down with the damn 'rona. This is a video I managed to film on Monday before getting sick so it's quite short. But you can always watch more fabrication videos on kzhead.infovideos
Gws!
Hope you feel better soon
We did *NOT* authorize your illness! Get better soon, or we will come to your house and feed you chicken soup! Seriously, hope you get better soon! I think I can safely say: "We all want you to get back to 100%!"
Hope you get to feeling better soon my friend! Awesome mod on the Ultimate Takenoshite Vehicle, I bet you could take off some sick jumps now!
It only lasts a couple of weeks at the most. My kids were over it in 3 days, but I was still hacking up flem from my lungs for over 3 weeks. Just enjoy your rest and sit back for a couple of weeks.
Donn, keep up the excellent work. Perfection is a moving target, and we love watching you struggle because your struggle makes for excellent videos. We all appreciate your hard work!!!
IMO you should go with Air bags either pure air bags or soft springs with Air bag assist it will allow for a nice soft ride when you not towing and when you are towing you can pump up the pressure to stiffen it up.
With all the issues you have had to deal with on this project, your hair is still pretty full even though it's short, I didn't spot any bald or normal tantrum tear outs that usually come with excessive stress. Looking like a balanced and firm ride now, well done Donn !!
You found some good replacement shocks in the "spare parts bin". That`s why I hated to throw anything out that had potential to be used in the future! I`m not a hoarder! I just like the ability to have options. Take care
Get well soon bro. Get lots of rest and fluids.
14,5 to 10,5mm makes some difference, yes! 😉 Great mod, thx for showing! 👍👍👍
GWS Good job 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Be safe 🇨🇦
Get well soon! 👌
Amazing, that you built!
Not sure if they are common or not in your country but here in the US we have shock absorbers that you can air up with just a tire pump or air compressor to help with heavy loads. If the ride quality is a bit rough with the new springs it looks like you could add a stud to the lower control arm on the rear to add a shock like I described. Hope you feel better soon being sick is horrible. I hade it back in June started feeling better and lost my taste and now my hair is falling out in hand fulls. Always look forward to your videos.
Man, get well! Video was short but interesting, as always. A little bit reminded my own experience of removing and cutting off springs, about 8 times in one evening. I shed a tear)
Problem found ...... Problem solved !! Great work it hardly moved at all when you set that log lift back on the back !! 👍👍 Top notch work !! 👍👍
Nice work again Donn.
Useful idea, good sharing 👍👍👍👍👍
Sorry i need to go back to play offroad outlaws
Good job ! I wish you a good recovery
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Nice fix! I hope you feel better soon.
Get well soon. GB
Waste Not! Ever consider building your own compressed wood scrap and saw dust briquette maker? After running the big stuff through a wood shredder. 👍👍
thank you Donn, I wish you will recover soon, we all think about you.... lot of love...
Good job Don
Sometimes, you gotta make a slight change to a design. You overcame this hurdle, show's your ingenuity. Awesome job for the "fix". Great video as always, cheers :)
one of these days I will get a video notification from you and you'll be building a space shuttle! You got this mechanical engineering stuff down pat buddy, keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next challenge from you!
Thanks bro
Get well quick and get your COVID shots if possible. Thanks for sharing the saggy rear end repairs. That was a great job beefing that problem and saving all your hard work . You did great. Fred.
Good upgrade suspension.
Get well!
Thank you for English subtitles
Hello from the Netherlands . thanks for the video . Sincerely, Hollandduck
The brake pipe on the right seems to be under some tension. Maybe needs a longer hydraulic pipe?
New stiffer springs = instant lift 😎👌
Hello Donn good job well done
Nice 😀 good Job.
Hi from Japan. I've been seeing you for a few years now, and I'm already a registered fan. The use of machines here is outstanding and interesting. Any ideas or parts that are unique to the lathe are very helpful. I would like to see a hydraulic wood splitter. You can see the oil pump. Greetings.
Love your channel and your builds. I just thought of another modification you could do to the rear suspension since it’s the same as the front why not add rear steer to make it really easy to maneuver inside the barn to move trailers and stuff out of the workshop.
Get well soon mate
Excelente parabéns!!!👏🤌👍
THANKS
Get well soon, and take care of yourself. Stay safe, Brother, and we'll see you later.
Love it keep it up 😚
In the US, that's what we call "tweaking" your invention. Well done Donn!
Top das galáxias
Sorry to hear you caught covid, get well soon, don't push to hard because you can have a bad relapse. 👍🙏
That reminded me of the time I put too much air in my ATVs back tires in relation to the front ones. It was fine, until I drove over a bump at high speed and got launched over the handlebars, waking up in the bushes that were quite a ways away.
depuis toutes ces années, ça doit en faire un sacrée tas de matériel ranger dans le garage ^^
💯
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
I think you would be better off with a weight distribution hitch, it transfer some of the force to the front so all 4 wheels are sharing the load. I had that setup when towing a large travel trailer, it made a massive difference.
Супермега крутой проект)))))
Комментарий в поддержку канала и ролика, а также труда мастера.
How did you get the shock load diagram? That's the first one I seen, and tells ya alot.
Красавчик!
Good ii boss 👍👍😊
Я тоже долго подбирал пружины на прицеп к мотоблоку. !!!!!
You know a little Bluegrass music would really liven up you videos.
Awesome Thanks for sharing. What happened to your cb350 and your 102 w201 190e?
Well after installing those heavy springs as we say here in Alberta Canada "it will ride like a dodge" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and i have a dodge truxl amd they ride wayyy better loaded down with weight then riding empty but thats the price ya pay. Keep.up the great work love watching your videos!
Yeni bişey yok mu birader. New project.ı like Job's
Now the issue I face is: which build series do I watch next *since they all look so good?*
Nice 😉😉😉
Recently found your channel and I've enjoyed watching all of your videos. You are a talented man with an incredible passion for design engineering and fabrication. Love what you can recycle and re-engineer Get well soon and I hope all is well there with the lunatic putin across the boarder
genio...
In the end it worked out okay I guess, get better real soon...
Osta traktori!
Hope you get better soon ,, struts are not fun to play with got to make sure you compressor clamps are hooked good so you don't pop a spring at you that would be a bad day ,,I have several different size of the clamp systems . I check too see witch fits best in the springs .. next problem will be the PTO drive system making a clutch type system for it ,, get well soon ..
Looks better with new springs ... Hopefully they're not too stiff with out a load...
👍👍👍!!!
Now you have natural immunity!!! What would be nice is air shocks, also sooner or later you'll need something for cv boot guards, but still say this PD trailer would work better on a small tractor......
👍👍👍
What about hydraulic pistons to hold the rear suspension when towing a heavy load. It will effectively give you a straight rear axel, at the height you want. Retract the pistons, and you have independent suspension again.
When I built my UTV I went for air suspension. If it's sagging simply add more air. The down side is that it loses pressure if left for a while and ends up on it's bump stops.
I'm surprised you didn't just find a piece of tubing that would fit over the end of the shock to make that smaller section the same diameter as the rest. Then just cut it vertically so it could collapse down when you tighten the clamp. Looking forward to see what you do to fix the issue, or are you just ordering different shocks?
now it's a hotwheels utv, higher in the back than the front 😁
make hydraulic control of the stiffness of the springs of the rear suspension, above the spring, a fork that is connected to the hydraulic cylinder through a lever, and, if necessary, we press the spring, raising the stiffness and load capacity of the suspension ...
Just curious, why did you make this vehicle right hand drive, when you have right hand traffic in Estonia?
It is dependent on the engine and gearbox. If the engine was on the other side you'd have 5 reverse gears and 1 forward...
Youmcould have added airbags to the back and had the ute infinitely adjustable Just a thought
Are you gonna put the stronger springs on the front as well?
not needed, as the additional load is carried on the rear springs, hence needing something stiffer.
@@kathrynwhitby9799 I was thinking because of the added ground clearance it seems to have provided
@@bethanyjaggi316 essentially (from my car factory days) a stiffer spring will suffer less of what's called "sag" when carrying a heavy load, therefore preventing the coils from binding (no gap), allowing the suspension to still have some travel. For more ground height, one would need either a longer spring & damper combination, or relocation of the mounting points. Hope that helps.
🤘🏼🤠
👏👏👏👍

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
My Idea would be to make a dolly hitch(like a semi trailers second trailer would have) with a single tire(or 2 like an old tractor has in front), have the trailer rest its weight on that, then just pull that with atv. (??) Bad for backing, but seems most logical to me?
Just keep in mind the wear on the CV axles. The steeper the angle they experience the faster they go out.
Coilovers would have been better for the rear with long springs and you could change the springs to suit the weight
Не думал поставить подкачивающие амортизаторы?не всегда же будешь ездить с этой сцепкой.
needs a cup holder. needs 2 of those.
la cosa se pone dura
Vær venlig at blive rask min ven!!
Why not just use air bags an convert an air conditioning pump to pump them harder when needed
Sorry Donn DIY, that you are down with the flu, get wel soon....
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Get some rest add a couple of duvet days
no subtitles?
Great job, now lift the front to keep the headlights level. Jk
Hello. What happened?
