Check this out, as Matt Duchene celebrates scoring his 30th goal of the season, but afterwards Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy didn’t appreciate it.

    @CameronBegin@CameronBegin8 жыл бұрын
    • +Cameron Begin Are you even aware of the situation? that was Duchene's 30th goal of the season, that is a HUGE milestone marker, the first 30 goal season of his career that's huge... and for Roy to say something about it??? ROY OF ALL PEOPLE?!?! I'm a huge Avs fan so don't get me wrong but that was the biggest hypocritical he could've ever done. EVER. Roy was the king of hotdogging out there, might even remember him being a hot dog and dropping the puck into the net afterwards... really Patrick? just shut up. it's your strategy of playing that's even keeping Duchene only at 30 goals, if we had more puck possession and support around him he could be a 40 goal scorer and easily be topping 70-80 point years, As an Avs fan I have to say goodbye to Roy, I'll stick Duchene at his prime over Roy coaching the team any time. You were a good player Roy, but a good coach.... you are not.

    • +Zach Larson you are right on that. I just see Patrick Roy as a great goaltender and as and awful person. He should be fired, but I guess because he and Sakic are pals since 20 years he probably won't be.

      @Sunburn9000@Sunburn90008 жыл бұрын
    • +Sunburn9000 as far as I'm concerned Sakic should be gone too, he lost O'Reilly and Statsny already in 2 years both at their prime, what's next this year? probably trade Duchene or lose MacKinnon to free agency... they're both great players, but management? no way in hell do they know anything about money and strategy though

Each play in football is equivalent to a giant chunk of consistent play time. Football players have been spending all week working on their small % in what makes them successful. You can always throw a check but to get a sack in football is as rare as scoring goals imo.

When the Islanders fired Lane Lambert this past January they were 19-15-11. Under Patrick Roy, they have gone 18-12-4 so far and they are looking to clinch a playoff berth on Saturday afternoon against the Rangers (magic number is 3). Every Islanders fan knew that Lane Lambert was about to be fired but when his replacement was announced it sent shockwaves throughout the fan base. Nobody expected them to hire Patrick Roy. • David Tye I didn't think you were picking on me so we are all good from that standpoint ha. It is quite possible that one could criticize Coach Roy on how he has handled the team in the past. Based on the presser only, I have no issue with what Roy said. Matt's celly, to me, reflected where he is at mentally. COL absolutely need that game and came up small. Really small. The way Duchene celebrated, you'd think that the Avs completed a comeback with 4 minutes left in the 3rd period. Going into that game, COL had a 3.1% chance of making the playoffs (per Sports Club Stats). Posting a goose egg for almost 56 minutes would leave too ticked off to even react let alone celebrate the way Duchene did. I say all this as being a big fan of Matt.

He didn't change before or after Roy or when he went to play for the Senators. He has great hands, good, talented skater but doesn't take the game seriously, doesn't have a will to win for the team. He has a good life, plays music and enjoys the country. Hockey just isn't his focal point in life, he has always been known as a very laid-back player when it comes to taking the game seriously. He was probably cheering because he got a million dollar bonus for scoring 30 goals and happy he could build that extension on his cottage in the summer, it had nothing to do with the context of the game. • Easy to see why Duchene didn’t last in Colorado. He doesn’t seem like a guy that coaches (or many teammates) like all that much

  • Years later, Duchene continues to lose on his teams; Roy isn’t coaching in the NHL; but Colorado won a cup. The real lesson? Joe Sakic knows what he’s doing.
