My high school foot ball coach was such a man, giving boys what they needed most, developing all of us into strong and confident men along the way. A lesson I've held onto my entire life through my military career and now through retirement. America needs these men of character now more than ever because what will happen to this great nation when the next war comes to our shores and there are none left.
As someone who served from 2013-2019 in the Marine Corps and now in the Army as an officer, I saw the complete deterioration of our youth. The marines I was in charge of were wimps. The soldiers are even worse. This nation is not ready for another war. We need to return masculinity to our schools or this country is living its last days.
I totally disagree with you, Gary.
@@harounlee208 You will be one of the first if war comes to our shores who will die.
@@joerivas9847 i don't give a fuck about dying several years before you. It changes nothing, what does represent +- 50 years when you compare your life to a geological time scale ?
"Based on a true story". So it has a colonel of truth in it.
I see what you did there
I laughed so hard at that.
Can't wait for the "bonding together cookout' scene. That's where he'll reveal his chicken recipe.
Take my like.

Way back in antiquity when I was in school, my PE teacher was a Kongo vet. At first we all hated him, but with the clarity of 20-20 hindsight I later realized what he was doing I love him for it. I am now a vet myself and I realize I have been passing along (worked as a teacher for a while) a lot of his teachings to the next generation.

@@MegaJohny56 Why did they wait until he works his way up to being a colonel to tell him he's unqualified?
@Lord Winter I wonder what was the reason for disqualifying him. They can't just let him go out the blue. There has to be a reason.
Kevin Durand was born to play this part! He's an underestimated actor that hasn't gotten the roles to show his true talent yet,..hopefully everyone will see his potential now!
No he wernt.. so much better actors for this part
Very true, very great actor!
Yes
SO GLAD Kevin Durand is leading a quality picture. This man is an absolutely incredible actor. Not sure if he has a lousy agent or casting agents are clueless dullards- but he is an incredible talent and can act circles around many of the “stars” of today.
Probably because he doesn't play ball with hollywood elites.
@@buddybuythis3889 Exactly! And another part of the problem is he is based in Canada. Canadian actors, no matter how good they are, DO NOT get the same treatment in the U.S. Film industry as actors from Los Angeles or New York. It really sucks. Toronto has an amazing job market for actors, especially for TV, since so many shows film up there. But it also traps Canadian actors into a local market. It's tough for them to get into SAG, audition in Los Angeles, and break out in Los Angeles. It's not impossible, but not easy. Durand has been a quality actor for a LONG time, but like many great Canadian actors, has had trouble breaking out of the C and B lists.
I think these are all valid points. I think Kevin just works when he wants to work! Good Thunder Bay lad.
Maybe he's not a man who networks, but I think it's more because he's not the most stereotypically good looking guy around, he's not unattractive but he feels more like a normal good looking guy that you might meet in the street rather than the traditional Hollywood leading man.
SELL GOLD BUY PLATINUM PRICE IS LOW NOW.
I can't believe it. I played three years under the Colonel and they are making a movie about him. KDID

My JUCO football coach was a Korean war veteran, Chosin Reservoir. 100% badass. 140 came out for the team, he ran drills to run off those "who didn't want to be there." When there were 70 left, that was the team. Hell, we could of had no QBs, or RBs, or WRs. It didn't matter. He won three NJCCA national championships.

We need a lot of Colonel like that now a day .
Kevin is totally underrated as a character actor. He has an unusual look - not unhandsome - but he's not conventionally leading man material and I think that's why he may be overlooked. But I would put him against a Cruise or a Craig or a Pitt any day of the week (and I'm just listing off leading men, not necessarily good actors). He's done a couple of 'okay' (or maybe not so okay ) movies in 'Legion' and "Dark was the Night", but he made those roles so stand-out. Those movies are worth watching for him alone. In Legion, he's particularly engaging as Gabriel - tormented, dedicated. Now I have to go watch it again!
I really liked his role in 3:10 to Yuma. He IS underrated!
Funny. Horror is not my genre, but one of the reasons I just watched Legion was to see how they portrayed the ArchAngel Gabriel. I have to say I was very impressed. His initial appearance was breath taking. I've played it over and over.
R u trying to tell us that Oscar winner Brad Pitt is in the same league as Tom Cruise when acting. Like seriously??? Brad Pitt is an amazing actor, 10 times better than Cruise.
Totally agree 100%
Also played 1. A Gou'ald in SG1 2. Dukes/Blob in Wolverine
I work in a factory. When I started, everyone talked about the Plant Manager. How tough he was, how at any moment he would just appear, seemly from nowhere. You better be doing something productive, after all we are paying you. Day or night, weekends, or holidays when we were closed, he may just show up. After all, there was a couple of guys there to watch the boilers, and fire alarms. They were getting paid. Holiday pay, and maybe overtime. You were not going to just sit around. Many talked bad about how tough he was, but I always felt I knew where I stood, and what they expected of us. He was fair, and in the end, he has a lot of respect from many. He was a Korean War Veteran, who worked his way to an Engineering Degree, after the war on the G.I.Bill. The Colonel kinda reminds me of the old Plant Manager.
I've seen the dark side of this. I had an ex-military supervisor who was vague in his directives, poor at training, but quick to make it known if you fall short of his standards, which were also vague.
2016, how did i miss this one. I needed someone like that when i was a kid, hell I could use someone like that right now. You never really understand how things affected you as a child until you look back with adult eye's. At that point your mistakes and misteps jump out at you.
I agree with you 100% about the adult eye's and past mistakes. If I could talk to myself in the past I would say don't stand up for what's right, shut your mouth, kiss more high valued backsides, and be fake.
It teaches about manhood and courage; it was cancelled.
My first civilian job was in IT after completing college. My immediate supervisor was an older Korean War vet. We looked at each other like we could shoot in the blink of an eye. He often lectured to others at how I was always 5-10 mins early. I went "online" at a specific time, not pull into the parking lot. After about 4 months, he had to direct me to take a day off. I was given tremendous freedoms because I did not require any supervision. Our department accomplished many things. We were the only 2 in our department more interested in team work than being a standout.

This was a Short Film released in 2016 that not many people have seen so tell them about it. This should convince producers he's ready for a Feature Film Starring Role. I knew Kevin when he lived in Vancouver and we worked on Beggars & Choosers so it is such a pleasure to see him in a big Starring Role. In real life he is a positive, funny and caring gentleman who also works out very hard. I used to also see Kevin in the Dunbar gym as well which was also Kevin Sorbo's gym, but that is where the comparison ends. Kevin Durand is a guy who would give you the shirt off his back and he has a wonderful outlook on life. When he was young he learned Ballet but he did also play Hockey like a good Canadian boy. I hope to see him in more big roles like this.

Kevin was awesome in Legion. His 10 minutes in the movie was almost perfection.
IT is said that Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton, and an empire later forged on the rugby fields of Britain. Pressure creates diamonds from worthless coal, while the finest steel is produced from the forging and tempering of iron. And so it is with humans. As my Drill Instructor constantly said: "I have 12 weeks to correct 18 years of neglect." Good and true lessons that have stood me well over the years.
Looking forward to seeing this movie coming out in 5 years ago.
Every high school needs this type of Colonel. OOORAH!
This looks outstanding. I admit i don't watch movies very often these days because Hollywood has forgotten what true men of character and integrity are. Please let this be a movie that restores my faith that we as a nation haven't forgotten what true values are.
This film should be re-release in theaters!
He should have been nominated.
I had the opportunity to meet Kevin Durand at a children's book reading in a public library. True story. My son was running around being a jack ass toddler, and ended up taking a tumble off the amphitheater steps. KD rushed over and helped him up, and joked about his adventurous spirit. We chatted for a bit, along with his wife, and I told him how much I loved him in Lost and other movies/shows. Super sweet guy. Really engaging when you talk to him. Also he's built like he could play forward in the NBA.
Great story

OK. I am MOST DEFINITELY seeing this movie. We desperately need this kind of message in America today.
Goodness, yes. There is no longer discipline, nor morals in this country. On top of it all, they've kicked The Lord out the front door, and NOW people are finally seeing what happens when evil wins....for now.

Mr Durand, Such an under rated actor. On the watch list.
I have always enjoyed Durand in his roles.
Thank you for showing the WHOLE movie
He is an awesome actor should be a great movie.
We need more Kevin Durand movies. He stole the show in The Strain
We could use more coaches/mentors/teachers like this in today's society.
Todays society would not tolerate it. Look at the grief he was getting in 1969.. Sad.
They'd hide behind a karen or in their safespace. Never going to happen.
There was a lot more abuse by mentors back in the day and it was covered up.
No, because then we would loose a lot of qualified, intelligent students to brutalism. Not everyone _is_ capable of enduring the shown training without mental consequences. Not everyone "has to be broken physically" to become "a grown man" (gender in the context of this film).
@@ovaskerri This isn't about abuse. This is about raising strong boys so they can become strong men. Strong men are an essential role of our existence. Weak boys turn into weak men. Weak men create hard times. Mankind has proven that repeatedly throughout history as an irrefutable fact, and we somehow just keep circling back to it over and over.
So happy to see this actor make a lead roll perfect for the job
I went to high school with Kevin Durand many years ago, we were not real close like best friends but friends. He always loved the drama class and was always smiling and friendly to every one. He was pretty tall back then as well. I also remember in the high school year book a question who would likely be the most successful? and the answer from most was Kevin Durand would be. Been following Kevin"s career and so happy he has achieved so much and happy for him. Any way he may not remember who I am but I was one of the first kids at the high school that loved rap and wore the silk track suits with the ball cap on backwards. I was also one of the biggest and muscular kids in school as well I was known for my paintings and drawings. One of my drawings is in that High school year book of our high school with graffiti and garbage on the ground. Hope things are well with you Kevin. =)

Looks like this film came out in 2016 as a Short film of 21min long, won several awards back then; but I never saw it... going to have to find it and watch. Love Kevin Durand, he stands out in everything he works on and I'd love to see him as leading man in a full length film.
Nice to see Durand get a starring roll.
For some reason, for a while whenever I used to see this actor, I only thought back to the part he played in the movie; Walking Tall with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He played a backwoods, hillbilly thug named Booth. But, I must admit over time, the body of work I have seen him do since by this fine Canadian actor, he has shown a very good range of acting ability. Not to mention, he’s an avid, die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. So, I admire him even more. I look forward to seeing this movie.
My late Vice School Principle was A Marine Colonel too. He was among the best teacher for us. At that time we feel fear and discipline. Nowadays, we miss him and his method in teaching us. RIP Colonel (Mar) Abdul Karim Usman (An alumni of Taruna Nusantara High School, Magelang, Indonesia)

This reminds me a little of my PE teacher at school (well over 50 years ago) sending us out on cross country runs with all of us wearing only canvas shoes (no socks) and cotton shorts (no top) in the snow and not just once but pretty much every time it snowed. It certainly amused him and we all survived so I suppose we learned something.

How th' #$%& did I not know about this movie?!? Kevin Durand kicks ass. I had a PE teacher/coach like this character.
