  • As a Whitmore Reans lad and big Wolves fan, may I say how proud I am that each of you clearly represents our club so well. It matters little I accept, but I thought you all spoke so well and so humbly, but also rationally and fairly. Discrimination is a terrible thing, I have witnessed racism a number of times over many years, whether it be white against black, black against white, asian against black etc etc, though I actually consider Wolverhampton to be a happy melting pot. But of course it runs far more deeply than that..........lack of opportunity affects people profoundly, poor white kids are now bottom of the pile but as a national statistic it is perhaps inevitably going to take years until you see more equality overall, in national income/employment/education/crime stats. But things are getting better, immensely better in fact since I was a kid in the 1980s. Maybe change is not fast enough though. But I have to be honest, I could have been that man in the pub saying I am tired of seeing it. It's not because its a black cause, its because its a cause, and sport is an escape from other issues in life, whether you deem them to be political or morally-based. That is why it concerns me that this well-intended but rather shallow Sky Sports campaign will become a self-fulfilling prophecy, because people are tired of it. It is just human nature, people do not like being dictated to, whatever that message is. To me the campaign though initially well-intended, insults people's intellect through its constant preaching. I m sorry to say that genuinely, because that possible intolerance does not stem from any underlying discriminatory thoughts on my behalf, I just don't want to hear about it all the time, whatever that cause may be. I don't need telling that. If someone like me feels that way, I fear it runs the risk of being counter-productive. Of course, you will rightly point out that racism is a serious issue that some people face daily, and so such intolerance on my behalf is therefore placed firmly into perspective as just a minor inconvenience, but I would say that any cause has to be sensibly and appropriately targeted to be beneficial. Target it at the 5% who may be racist. Subsequently, it is absolutely no surprise to me that more and more cowards hiding behind their computer screen are racially abusing players on social media, as the campaign is as shallow and ill-thought out with no real, long-term, positive outcomes. Anyway, at a personal level, keep up the great work, and hopefully your own projects evolving and developing young lads like Fabio Silva and Owen Otasowie will hopefully bear fruit for yourselves and the club. I do wish more young black lads followed Wolves, rather than following just the big boys, they would be welcome at Molineux, just as many Indian kids are these days. Again, there is no easy answer to these things in reality.

  • As a black Wolves supporter since 1966, I feel even more "included" after watching this honest and rational discussion. Congrats to all involved in this important initiative.

    • I know it’s a big ask but a sit down round table like this with some of the current players of colour would be massive and a great educational piece for the community.
