This year was the first time I got those emails and didnt know I have to maintain a subscription for nav and other item.. to include able to use the functions on Mercedes Me Connect. That was a shock.

I consider Mercedes Me services a rip off. The dash cam already installed and paid for requires £200 to switch on, cynical at best. The other services are expensive and frankly poor. The dash cam in my experience is unreliable and as it needs switching on, when it is ready, is a joke. Nick, please tell Mercedes they are taking the piss!
Hey kingfisherphil, ah well if you didn’t know the camera in the car was never designed to be a dashcam in the first place when it was invented years ago. As proof look at the first car on Mercedes eBrochures that ever had this camera and it was in 2018 on the A-Class. Dashcam was then announced in 2021 years later. It’s main purpose is Augmented Reality (that’s what it’s actually for). For starting it manually, this is where regulations come in and this is where they get annoying! After doing research, “On Board Recording” equipment in certain countries has to be started manually (depends on the laws in the country). “Off Board Recording” like a 3rd party dashcam is separate. My fingers are crossed that this changes in the future! It’s one of the reasons why I rushed a video out to show that it does not automatically start, at least then it gives people the option.
NGL this new thing with haveing to pay for something that i bought already is some bullshit, i really hope this trend fucks off soon

As usual Nick. Good video. Love it! I purchased the Navigation Package for my CLA back in November 2022. It’s never worked. Contacted my local Mercedes dealer, they referred me to MercedesMe support. Contacted them and after lots of to/fro with calls/messages/photos. They said that my maps are ‘ripped off’, they flatly refused to fix the problem and they’ve basically called me a criminal. Resigned myself to having a substandard Mercedes. Not happy!
Hi Nick, about to collect my used 2020 A Class, was quite excited as living in the back and beyond I liked the idea of the adaptive high beam assist with the multi beam headlights which the car has fitted from factory. But on downloading the Mercedes store they are selling a subscription for the high beam assist, does this mean I won’t have it as the car is 4 years old? Or is that for cars that didn’t have it from new? Been watching all your videos so I’m ready for the collection, lots of great advice 👍🏼👍🏼

No make sure you’re signed in to your account otherwise you’ll see everything on the Mercedes me store 😅 I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard from Mercedes that there are a few add-one for new cars that you can buy if it didn’t have it from factory. Don’t know what cars the light upgrade would be compatible with but it I doubt it would apply to Multibeam LED tech.
Mercedes is all going for increased revenue, which is a shame for the experience: new cars prices are way higher, engines are not fun anymore, and all those apps cost should be factored in with the vehicle price. Also Mercedes will switch off the Adapter app for older Mercedes, which was so useful to keep track on trips and other features... :(

Thanks for your helpful guide as usual, Nick. However I would like to know what you think about Mercedes-Benz withdrawing the MercedesMe ‘Adapter’ and its app, which is useful for older cars - mine is a 2012 CLS - which have not got the telemetry for tyre pressures etc which the newer models have. But I still think it is worth their continuing the Adapter: my car is shown in my MercedesMe dashboard as having only one ‘digital service’ - the Adapter! But this does show me how much fuel I have, keeps very full journey statistics, shows me where I’ve parked and can set alarms for the expiry of a parking period, shows me what the fuel prices near me are, and reminds me to check tyre pressures and oil level. Could you put in a good word about it on your channel soon, please? Perhaps we can persuade the factory to keep it going after all.
Hey Hugh, thank you! Yes I’ve heard of this from some comments on KZhead, sadly I’ve not actually seen what the Mercedes me adapter even did. I haven’t had access to a car that has had it. I’ve heard it went into the OBD port or something? I guess as this sounds like it’s discontinued, there are probably apps that can track mileage etc of you need it for business expenses etc. if it’s for personal use, I’m sure those apps would do a similar thing.
@@npoleary Thanks Nick - indeed it plugs into the OBD port and gives a variety of output to the Adapter app on your phone. I’ll try to send you some screenshots - but the point is that there aren’t any apps that I know of - and certainly the new Mercedes Me app isn’t one - which can provide the same info, from an older car which isn’t online. The generation of COMAND system I have (NTG4.5) is called ‘COMAND Online’, but it had to dial up to get on the internet - and Vodafone has discontinued that service. So there isn’t much ‘telemetry’ from the car. The Adapter does somehow communicate where the car is parked and for how long, and how much fuel is in the tank. It used to give a reading of the battery voltage, but Mercedes withdrew that some time ago, which is a pity because it was a good prompt to put the car on charge if it had been idle for a period. This is all probably outside the scope of your excellent channel, as you concentrate on what is new in the Mercedes-Benz range. You might however want to celebrate the fact that Sandown Mercedes (of whom, and of their predecessor Tony Purslow) I used to be a happy customer for nearly 30 years until I moved to S. Wales), are great supporters of owners of older Mercedes - Sandown gives a 40% discount on labour charges for cars over six years old. Sandown boss Gavin McAllister has been made chief of the UK M-B dealers’ council, I have read. Must be a story in it for you!

Hi Nick. I'm about to sell my vehicle. If I pay for updates etc (after logging in to the app and store), do those purchases stay with the vehicle, or are they lost once the vehicle is sold to someone else?
They stay with the car, so factor that in before you buy! The next owner would be able to make use of them

Well I did it, I ended up paying $250 Canadian dollars for 12 months subscription. Here is the bummer, I could not select items that I wanted and exclude other stuff, it was the complete package or nothing. Disappointing for sure especially if in 11 months I have to pay that amount again. Cmon MB you can do better than that especially if you ate not adding new firmware or nice things eh?

It depends where you live as Mercedes me is not available everywhere worldwide. If you’re based in the UK, then make sure your car is linked to your account and you’re signed in. If you stuck chat to Mercedes and they can help you out 🤓
My one expired. I'm not going to subscribe to it again. It's too expensive for useless navigation, and there's no 6 months plan.

Ah perfect, so to add anyone else, you need to create another Mercedes me account: You - your email (as it at the moment probably) 2nd person - their email on their phone Once you’ve created another Mercedes me account, you’ll need to use the Co-User function. Basically you share it with them and their name appears on the screen on the car within minutes 🤓

Hey jimson, really sorry spec varies around the world. As I’m based in the UK I only have access to cars at my local one. I guess the best thing to do is contact your local Mercedes and they can let you know if it’s available where you live.

Hey Mike, sadly almost all car manufacturers charge for Live Traffic for data usage etc. Although I don’t know this for certain, I bet that TomTom charge car manufacturers for it too. There are alternatives, if your car can use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, use that as it has free Live Traffic! Hope that helps! 🤓
Mercedes revenue strategy to hit up buyers with additional pay subscriptions for things like remote start etc., is unfortunate. I have a 2022 350 GLE and likely going to move to BMW. My wife has new BMW M440i, and auto start is on the key fob. Hope Mercedes does not get idea of charging for tire pressure and oil level sensors too. What a joke!
Car dealers are criminals! All that should’ve included for the price of the car, I find it disgusting that we have to pay more to remote start our own vehicle.
Sadly all remote tech requires a data subscription. Just like your phone you’ll pay monthly to keep it connected, it’s the same with this. All manufacturers are the same. Also just bear in mind Remote Start sadly isn’t available in the UK, I’ve heard in other countries it is but check with Mercedes directly to know for sure (sorry hard to tell where everyone is based, I’m a Content Creator based in the UK).
@@npoleary I’m trying to purchase remote start and windows lock, the only option to add to cart is a package for 150$ when last year it took me to a page that I could select each item from 15$ can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Really sorry as far as I’ve heard from Mercedes themselves, prices are tailored to each car. You’ll have to contact them and they can check it out for you. Mine for example will be different to others so I guess it depends on the equipment on the car. In the UK, they’re sold as packages on the Mercedes Me Store, I’ve just bought something recently for a future video so I’ll be covering that soon!
