  • This is one of the best explanations ever on this phoneme and its different spellings. I especially found amazing how you made it clear that the 'y' affects also the previous vowel and showed how different it would sound it the word would be writte with 'i'! Also, I didn't know that la villa and mille were exceptions nor that the original Latin word having 'i' in the original syllable would affect the modern pronunciation in French! Je vous remercie aussi our le PDF! By the way, as as Brazilian, it helps me a lot that you explain in English cause this way I take the chance to also keep in touch with the language after I retired, even when learning French! I've already given the due thumbs-up as I always do and also shared! Je suis vraiment reconnaissant, enseignante!

  • This was a brillliant lesson! I always wondered about the pronunciation of ville and mille but I still have trouble pronouncing nouilles. I will revisit this lesson.

  • Great lesson as always! I do have a question about something I am still not getting. If I hear around me that "they/he work/s hard" = ils travaillent dur OR il travaille dur. How can I discern if the talk is about HIM or THEM ? Thanks!
