How Swords and Sandals Created our Childhood

The Swords and Sandals franchise have been a huge part of your childhood, as well as mine.
The sheer happiness we received when hearing the theme soar through our ears and got excited to enter the arena once more.
We all sort of collectively forgot about this game some period in our lives whilst still having it imprinted in our synapses. The day we remembered this game, it all felt like a fever dream. But a good one.

  • crazy, I didn't think someone would make a documentary about this bit of my childhood almost nobody I know today has ever heard of. I recall commenting on one of his videos asking how the comma glitch happened and he gave a detailed response akin to what you covered -- guy is very much deserving of all the fruits of his labour

    • Seriously man, whenever I ask my friends "have you guys played swords of sandals" every single time it's a "nope" it's such an amazing game that continues on with it's story, I love the lore so much and never knew he made a game past swords and sandals 2. I come back 8 years later now that I'm 20 and he has, 3, 4, 5, immortals, pirates, etc. Such an AMAZING series

  • wow, not even 5 minutes in and i'm already very impressed by the amount of research here. even I who consider myself a Swords and Sandals expert and long time fan have no idea of the amount of stuff and history Swords and Sandals have, it's utterly amazing. Toast to you, Toasters!

  • I was never so Lucky to have the last Play Station console or Xbox so, all I had to entertain myself in my humble home was Internet conection, a PC, logged into Armorgames,Kongregate or Newgrounds and just play over and over the Swords and Sandals games, they were so well made for a flash game, and I really enjoyed their cartoonish humor, thanks for doing this video.

  • I really really enjoyed swords and sandals 1 and 2. Just how original it felt. I even paid and currently playing the 2nd game on mobile which (although slightly buggy) really fun! I honestly think the 3rd games design and after look weird and ugly. It lost its touch but I like how ambitious they were. Great video!

  • Oliver's soundtrack WAS cheesy. He's right, but the whole game series is delightfully cheesy and absolutely coated with Oliver's dad humor. It's a cheesy soundtrack for a cheesy game and I love it.
