If you have the same car or other and you want to replace timing belt without messing the timing of the engine, i suggest you to Watch this before replacing timing belt on your engine
Here is why I removed pulley locker kzhead.info/sun/n8iNlamnfXiDZps/bejne.html
Thanks I'm getting ready to do that on the Honda this is my first time for a belt I've always done the Chevy chains.. think I can handle it now.
I want to know how those gears got so clean and dry, even as, or before the cover was removed?
@@drunkenpirate3201 here's what you do have the foreign car melted into a hood ornament for the chevys

This certainly holds your cams, but for actual installation, you must rotate your cams 1/2 a tooth advanced to slip the belt on, then follow up with slightly rotating the intake cam before finally slipping it over the tensioner idler. When you release it all, it will be lined up. Back in the day at the dealer, we had to go behind many a shade tree mechanic who did not know this and had their belt a tooth off. And don’t spin your balancer shaft unless you know how to retime it. By the vibration, you’ll know if it’s off.
You notice how everything's been nice and cleaned out before he puts that back on
Notice how he did replace any seals🤨
those parts are completely covered. They shouldnt be dirty or oily, if they are something is wrong
@@roryhennessey8836Your comment is irrelevant. The cams at the end compared to the cams at the start are completely different (at least maintenance wise). Also at the end, their little tool isn't even attached to the cams 😂😂😂....really some people man (you)🤯
@@___Karma__ ok bot. Yes. And what you said about the video is obvious to anyone with one good eye
@@roryhennessey8836 You don't seem to understand what a bot is. Your original comment made it seem like the original comment was incorrect with their assessment and you were in fact defending the video and their product like a bot 😂
So lock the gears in place, and before installing the new belt.. remove those locks to make sure the gears can move freely. OK GOT IT!
Didn't think anyone else noticed that lol
Better replace camshaft & crankshaft oil seal together to make sure no oil leakage after replace new timing belt
They will leak before the end of the service life of the new timing belt and contaminate the belt and then will cause premature failure.
Never and I mean never change a timing belt without replacing the other pulleys and water pump if that is timing belt driven. If 1 of those components fails it will destroy the timing belt and the engine if it’s an interference motor.
Wants to charge for those down the road. Pay for labor twice...
Those older Audi A4s were a nightmare. One of the worst examples of engineers putting zero thought into future maintenance on a vehicle
If anything fails its all over not just thirst parts 😆.
Cuando aga ese tipo de trabajo ay que cambiar la bomba de agua y los Valero para no regresar el proximo mes a destaparlo
Muy cierto es mejor cambiar el kit completo
Interesting, you put your little red older on and then it disappeared and the it appeared again. Did you take it off because it wasn't working?
Theres an even easier way.. Cut the old belt in 1/2 length ways & remove the outter 1/2.. Then put the new belt on 1/2 way, then, cut the rest of the old belt sideways & remove, then slide on the new belt all the way on.. Been doing that way for yrs now..
That's old skool mate , young ones today would struggle to have that many brains 😅
That's only useful for replacing the belt. Isn't it recommended to replace the other recommended parts too.
@@andyrankin5988 Grandpa, you gotta replace your water pump and cam seals too!
@DaveDorenbergVeltman well if it's not broken, then why fix it ??? But yes agreed the other things in newer cars aren't built to last, so I suppose , it's maybe best to do the lot on crap models , That OK pup
@seinarukishi9228 if it's not broken don't fix it , Oh but these newer cars aren't built to last , forgot that most cars are throw away items after 10 years or so , Its a handy fix if someone is short of cash and the chance the belt might break , is that OK pup 🐶 Was that a little wag of the tail I got there 🔧
great tools but its weird that when he is installing the new belt that the tool has been removed and the cam gears appear brand new instead of the old rusty ones
Nice little tool for holding the cams in place for most GM Family 1 DOHC engines, like you L91 o L95 for the Aveo Remember to replace the tensioner rollers and the water pump always while doing a belt replacement job
I replaced my belt on a 99 Toyota 4runner 3.4L just fine without a tool. My cam gears had dots to line up with the block and new belt but would i do it again at home? Not in a million years it was unbelievably hard to do. Next time ill pay the local shop the estimated $350.00 bucks
It’s really not that hard unless you mean hard as in the tight spaces and frustration of removing parts other than that I can change a belt in 15 min
I wouldn't trust any shop that will do your timing belt for $350
For 350 you're a fool for not taking it to a shop. Timing belt and water pump service is 1k at least where I am
Lmao I wanna be a mechanic now. 1k an hour?@@doom3380
You do great work. Full videos CLEARLY show it.
Thanks, yes I show details in my longer videos
Turn the engine all the way clockwise and line the marks up again before installing the covers. That's how you know before cranking with the starter it came out to correct timing.
You need to make sure that the camshaft and crankshaft are in the correct position before putting on the new belt or you're not fixing anything.
You mean, he'll be fixing EVERYTHING
It why I like the old V-8s . Line up the dots on each gear and go .
I have a 5.2l V8 1994 and I love it
Or the Toyota/Lexus 2GR-FE V6 engine. You line up the dots but for 4 camshafts when you replace the timing chain but, the timing chain lasts forever if you regularly change your oil and oil filter.
Очень полезное видео спасибо 🤝 Ещё раз убедился что ненужный фиксатор распредвала да ещё и метки ушли в конце
Cambiar bomba tensor y rodillo y correa de distribucion !!
how come the plastic holder disappeared and then reappeared?
Nice video can i ask where you inquired tht tools
You should definitely invest in a higher quality cam sprocket holding device!!
Or how about not waste money and time on useless tools and just to the job right. If the cam jumps a couple of teeth it takes way less time to line the mark up with just a wrench.
Yo everyone! This engine is an interference model that will bend valves and/or worse when the timing belt fails!!! ALWAYS replace the water pump and all associated pullies and seals while you are in there. NEVER be afraid to swing for the fence!!!!!!
What an awesome tool that was making changing a toming belt so easy and less time consuming !
When you are taking the new belt out the box you can see there is no fix brackets on the gears. Also not the same dirty gears.
То стоЯт фиксатор, то не стоЯт?!
Magic
Smart tool.
Now do a 3 chain German motor. I could do a dual cam 4 cylinder belt motor with the roadside toolkit I gave my mom for mother's day. 🤣
An older Japanese V6 DOHC with 1 timing belt with each camshaft pair meshed with scissor gears is just as each as doing a Japanese 4 cylinder
Done many timing belts in my days. Never needed one of these
Did you replace the tensioner?
This is why I love the Toyota/Lexus 2GR V6. It has a lifetime chain
vq has a chain too love it
What’s wrong with aligning and marking all signs before taking the belt off? Been doing that without error regardless of how many cams or diesel injection pumps in the mixture.
I guess that locks the gears so they don't move and mess up the timing.
It's called a camshaft lock. Idk what this clown was doing with them but he did it wrong at some point.
Once the old belt is off, sure you check all the sprockets for debris, such as pieces off the old belt.
Also cam gears are nice and Rusty it turns back and they're clean like they had the heads done
Better do a head job when One of these jumps timing......
Okay dont do this! He removed the cam locker after taking off the belt and you can clearly see the timming is off then puts the new belt on while it is clearly out of time. What you don't see is the engine had to be replaced after
Wow! Really? I didn't know that you could tell a non interference engine from an interference just with a glance. Strange that you also assume he didn't fix the timing after.
Good video thanks 😊 👍
Thanks
Wat was the purpose of the orange tool
The idea is to lock the gears so your timing wont get messed up, if done incorectly may granade your engine
Так когда он одевал ремни инструмента на шестернях нет
Usually people dont think of a timing belt but when it snap its game over in most cases. Chains or str8 Gear O MONEY
That gear stopper literally cleans the gears after you remove the belt? I'm sold that's awesome!!
Where did the cam locking tool go when you slipped the new belt on !!!
That is amazing you shoulda started it BEFORE YOU THE WHOLE THING TOGETHER😁👌👍
So it cleans your camshaft sprockets while you replace the timing belt??
Only seen mechanics use tippex to mark belt position ? This is a good tool 🔧
you invented that. YOU invented everything. your a great inventor. its all YOUR idea. you are the one. tysm
Good time to replace oil seals on cam shafts and replace water pump.
Link for this tool included in your video or? That's a sweet one.
Cam Camshaft Lock Holder: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DnoJ2oX
Very good invention!!
Muy buena asi no se desincronisa el motor
Water pump and check pulleys along with changing timing belt.... Is recommended
Two wrenches on the bolts held with vice grips works better.
A little too late for me I was changing my timing belt on my Nissan hardbody and when getting the teeth to line up one of gears got away from me and the valve spring spun the cam and bent one valve then seen this tool for the first time the next day
So you used the tool but then took it off? And then put it back on after?
After start, engine still working ?
Super handy Item
Locking pliers works nicely
I've always used a small c clamp🤣
well done
Thanks
Split the belt in half lengthways with a stanley knife then cut the first bit off put the new belt half on then cut the remainder off 👍🏻
We didn't see the tension put on the belt and it being one tooth off from the crank!
One cam was off crank was off a little too. New tensioner kit and water pump as well please. I'm guessing you did all that but needed it too fit in a short?
Like a boss 😎
You either replaced the 2 cams and cover or your working on 2 dif cars
Aaa, Daewoo they will snap the f out of the belts if the belt is tensioned to all hell.
Here’s a cool tip I learned from my shop teacher, who also was the shop foreman for Nissan for 20 years: before you remove the belt, use nail polish to mark the gears where they meet the belt. Then when you reinstall it, test its timing. Turn the crankshaft by hand to make the marks rotate around the gears three times. By the third revolution the marks don’t match up, take it back off and reinstall it.
You didn't pay attention to your teacher or he told you bs..... A complete engine cycle on a 4 stroke engine takes 2 crank revolutions. So, after 3 turns of the crank timing marks won't be aligned.
@@juergenscholl2843 no no no not three revolutions of the crank, i meant three revolutions of the timing belt
Wait, why does he have nail polish?
You make 1 mistake , you supposed to leaved that tool on even Tbelt is off , you only removed that tool off when everything is installed and ready to tested for timing mark for 4 revolutions check , you only removed that tool if you have to replay cams seals and than put that tool back before you install Tbelt and pulley auto tensioner
In this video how do they replace the belt when the timing marks on the gears are not aligned ? Did I miss see this?
You make it look like it's very easy, but there are many details in your video. I tried this product sold on aliexpress and it doesn't work. but I give a thumbs up because of the quality of the video shooting.
Great idea .
This happens when the customer asks, I just want my timing belt replaced. Everything else is fine !! Lol 😆 🤣 😂
I changed the timing belt myself with the water pump. Everything else was good no loose pulleys or anything else. It was an easy job just time consuming having to take other parts off
Don't we double check the timing consistency?
Great Video, just wish you would have shown belt tension ing procedure But Well Done.👍👍
Thanks, here, watch the detailed video here kzhead.info/sun/n8iNlamnfXiDZps/bejne.html
What's the name of this tool
Good job
Awesome, thanks
When did you change the sprakets couse at the end they look so new
What was the point of installing the cam gear lock tool and then not have it when installing the belt?
So using the marks on the pulleys is too difficult?
🤔 hmmmm Presenting a cam gear lock tool as if we're seeing slice bread for the first time...
Which engine ?
What happens if the timing belt were to snap off on a 1995 ls400 lexus
Very good
What is it where is it and how do I get it
all very well but if you have a floating crank pulley ffs use the correct locking tools
Yup, valve springs will make cam gears move without tool. Need to do it a different way on a v engine design. M
Tool name place ?
What is that clamps name. I want to get one of that.
Where can I buy one
Das sieht sehr nach dem x18xev oder auch x20xev
Sensacional ✌
The cams looked out of time when you were putting the top cover back on. Just my observation.
"Meow" in the background
Heads on 4.7 Toyota to use that!
Nice. very cool tool
Iam mechanic yesterday a chevy aveo arrive same engine like the video and the funny is that the water pump is your tensioner put every mark aligment like need to be then finally adjust the water pump ant tied 3 bolts
Its two different motors
This looks easy enough for me to do 😊 but I know it is definitely not as easy as it looks. Or is it? 😅
Except you gotta spin one cam to get the belt lined up
Better idea, buy a car with a timing chain.
no cam pulley seal replacement?
He just installed the belt without the tool😂
The way I solved misaligned camshaft problems ruining engines is by buying a Sixties vintage Ford Comes with a real timing CHAIN. You merely run the engine 200K miles and rebuild the engine while installing a new chain.
No entiendo. En el momento de colocar la nueva correa la herramienta desapareció
