Some were able to do crazy damage, I read back in like 2010 that ROB’s final smash could, in theory, inflict something like 300% DMG if you played it perfectly
Meanwhile Marth's FS is literally a pure, unequivocal one-shot in EVERY game. Its hurtbox got bigger throughout all of the games, too. They made it easier to land every time iteratively.

Negative Zone would have worked so much better for Daisy. To be fair, she's been the worse number 2 than Luigi. Daisy has been rejected to most people during the 90s because they didn't think she was different from Peach.

Daisy is the superior princess, but Peach gets more love only because Peach is the original princess whereas Daisy is just a doppelganger. Nintendo does care about Daisy, it's just that people some people don't understand that Peach and Daisy are different characters which is why she is punished to spin-off appearances.

It really didn't. The Final Smash is not only impossible to avoid on small stages, playing the bongos badly traps heavy characters in it for high damage. It is a guaranteed kill on characters with poor horizontal recovery.

It’s interesting that Pit and Dedede are the only characters with a different Final Smash for each of the three games. R.O.B. almost counts too, but his Ultimate FS just has a bit more of a startup than the Smash 4 one.

It's just because they couldn't think of an original final smash separating fox and falco's, so they made falco use the Landmaster. The quote is a poor attempt at explaining why Falco is using that vehicle even though he hates it in the star fox games.

In the case of Wolf, it’s a Landmaster we’ve never seen, because he was added in a rush (This explains why he doesn’t have a role in the Subspace Emissary and only appears in one cutscene.) and he copied all of Fox’s moves, including his Final Smash and (Don’t ask me why) his victory theme. Even though that, it’s still nice to see it!

There’s something so anticlimatic about a final smash only doing 20-30% damage in ultimate vs the 40-70% in brawl (and how many used push off as a secondary usage) Which, sure many of Brawl’s were difficult to control (Yoshi, Pikachu, Diddy, Sonic) and just having a set animation and range is an improvement…but many regular attacks and weapons do similar or more damage depending on the character
I loved when the final smashes were meant to kill and not just to throw, and also you had to play for them to work which was very fun and felt very satisfying when you do it well. Now it is just seeing a movie that will just make 30% damage.
@@pochijp I really hated the controlable ones. Fighting to bust open a final smash ball (and trying not to have it stolen after putting in the work/being the thief mwahahahahahaaa) was just as satisfying as doing massive/actual ko damage. But…yeah. Aside from LANDMASTER!! and Game&Watch’s Octopus…most of the controlable ones were too spastic and hairpin to actually do anything useful with so if I played as those characters getting a final smash was more to keep it from my opponents (and hopefully not accidentally ko myself with falling off ‘cause who KNOWS where it’s ending on me.) Kirby’s pot was just MEAN, Zelda’s and Sheik’s light arrows were character-appropriate and still did massive damage (and worked really well as a pushback to ko) but needed strategy to work (which is still the case for Link’s Ancient Arrow but also MEH), Link’s Triforce Barrage also fit his character but demanded close-combat to not waste it (and good luck you’re dead once caught) Peach’s final smash…honestly still sucks. Free heal items and a break, I Guess?? But your opponents just don’t stay asleep for very long and the whole Dance makes it difficult for Peach to keep the others from taking advantage of the dropped peaches and recovering, too. (And it’s not useful as a Support, either. Team members can’t move until the dance ends, either, and like Peach only have a few seconds to recover and use the recovery peaches before everyone else wakes up.) Technically a moveset clone or not (so are Mario, Luigi, and Doctor Mario just sayin’. And even if Ganondorf and Captain Falcon no longer share literally the same idle animations Ganondorf’s moveset is still Cap’s but slower + more damage (and magic)) making Daisy have the same Final Smash as Peach but…eating flowers…apparently?! Is just…so lazy. Daisy in smash was loooooong overdue (especially since for the longest time she only existed as a “skin” and we were supposed to be happy with that) but…come on! She could’ve had idk. A giant Pirahna (still a flower!) sprout out of the stage like Iceclimber’s Iceberg and snap at players or, idk radiate Poison Damage. Or a giant flower put the other fighters to sleep with pollen that also hurt them. (And Upgrade Peach’s final smash to one that Instantly Heals her no less than 40% or is a Full Recovery (so, way better than Heart Containers) + puts her opponents to sleep with her having full control during that period to smack them around (and possibly have them take gradual damage the entire time they’re asleep) I…kinda went on a tangent there. (The Mario Universe gals deserve better…) But. Anyway. The final smashes could be greatly improved…verses nerfed + swapped or copy&paste and all-around changed for nearly everyone. (Why?? Okay so the Starfox Gang having a change makes sense-Landmaster functioned well, but they’re FIGHTER PILOTS.)

Negative Zone may have been the wrong idea for Luigi's Final Smash, but it had good execution.
It’s a reference to the fact that Luigi has always been in his older twin brother’s (Mario) shadow.

I like how DK’s first final smash is based on Donkey Konga games, but it’s not really outlined that you can affect how effective the smash is until the second one, and then for the third one they switch over to the bonus spam from Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Sephiroth’s Final Smash is maybe more emblematic in his series, but I think the idea for Luigi is better. Giving him his poltergeist for the most recent Luigi’s Mansion game is however a great idea!

My favorite Final Smash easily is Brawl Snake's. But Brawl DeDeDe's and Luigi's are just so funny and wacky they stole my heart.
I love Ultimate, some of the Final Smashes they improved (Donkey Kong), and some of them they ruined (Meta Knight).
Meta Knight's was creative back then but now they just turned into another final smash where the character just hits you a bunch of times.

I wish they kept the transformation final smashes. I never got to use them but it looks so fun to get to run around with a character that seems to have come straight from a mod. Especially if they gave you the ability to control Super Sonic and Mega Mewtwo in ultimate

I know you would rather have heard this when you first played Brawl, but on the character selection screen clicking on the Samus portrait with A (or 2) lets you choose which form of Samus you want at the start of the match. The same applies to Pokèmon trainer and Zelda/Sheik

I think it's a nerf. Ness and Lucas are so brutal characters and the Wii U PK Starstorm was incredibly OP. I personally like the new PK Starstorm, specially because Paula, Poo, Kumatora and Boney appears
They actually made it better if you think about it cause in smash 4 it was just a straight line that you can point in either direction but if your opponent dodged it which was easy mind you then they could chill on the opposite side leaving you with no damage done to them. But in smash ultimate they just randomized it sure its less of a hit box and damage dealt but in return the opponent can't predict rng so he would be bound to have a better chance of being hit than dodging.
I like it how in ultimate it would zoom in on the character as well as show their character portrait before using their final smash and the background changing
If these guys will appear in the next game, all I want is Byleth's final smash to show the fighters being hit by the twister for a couple seconds. And Kazuya's final smash to just shoot the lasers right now and not make it a trapping-type of final smash

Before there was more uniqueness in Final Smash, but in the latest versions there has been a big repetition of Final Smash styles that have several continuous attacks. And the Final Smash uniqueness disappeared in many characters. I liked the Brawl version better. Although with the simplest graphics, there was creativity in each Final Smash, especially Kirby's, which in the future is changed to a pattern of several continuous attacks

Brawl’s final Smashes were broken, inconsistent and mediocre for some characters. 4 and Ultimate were better. Unique doesn’t equal good
@@donathan2933 Indeed, some were too broken, like Fox for example, in which you controlled that tank, it was almost impossible to escape that tank. It was later switched to a close range Final Smash which made it more balanced, this change was a huge improvement to the game. But at the same time, I didn't like what they did to Kirby, if I were a franchise player I would definitely miss his Final Smash cooking. Really "unique" is not always "best", but they are creative, they could think of something less repetitive, you know?

Brawl had the most creative and fun final smashes to me. I might be biased as an ex-samus main but I thought the 2 in 1 characters were a cool game mechanic. With samus, you had an overpowered final smash but the traid-off was losing your armour and having to play the weaker zero suit version. Now samus is split in two characters and her ult that used to be super frightening isn't anymore. Not fair, considering that in the newest game zero suit samus basically has the same final smash as samus but with more precision and much stronger.
I miss the dual characters too, I loved playing as Zelda/Sheik in Melee and Brawl, and Pokémon trainer was a lot of fun too

I'm glad they got rid of the transformation final smashes. Honestly, they were usually a pain to control, and if your opponent was good at staying away, well good luck doing anything notable with it.

No. It literally isn’t. Luigi’s confuses you and makes you dizzy, while Bayonetta’s slows down time enough for you to get attacks in, before she summons her demon. How is that the same?
I like that Ultimate mostly got rid of the possibility of not hitting anyone with your final smash. Ive had so many wasted final smashes in smash bros wii u, but not in ultimate

I would love to see the next Smash game do the 2 final smashes thing with all characters like with Ryu and Ken. Maybe for example DK and King Dedede could have their brawl final smashes as their ranged final smashes while their vurrent one is the close up final smash
I kinda hope they'd made new final smash for Ness and Lucas, I mean, PK Startorm isn't even their PSI move (Well, ALL of their PSIs aren't theirs). Would be cool to see them use PK Rockin' or PK Love with that blinding visual, lol
A big part of brawl were better, especially on transformation like bowser sonic lucario fox wario and other... because on ultimate it's often the same attack but with a different character...

Brawl is the only one of the 3 I don’t have, but I can already tell it’s awesome.
Guud times when Final Smashs were more interactable/unique and not just cutscenes with similar damage outputs. Also, I love the sound effect in Ike's Final Smash from brawl. Nostalgia hits me hard with that one.
