I am currently a foreign student in Germany and I remember debating with my German teacher and classmates on Studying in Germany. A classmate listed the good things like studies being free and all, I on the other hand said the bad thing is that people leave the country after studying for free. The person listing the good things was the one who would leave the country later and move to the UK for a better income. I on the other hand love the Germans for paying for my studies with their hard work. I do not want to disappoint these people and want to give them back. Hence, I decide to stay in Germany for the rest of my life. I want to work for the people and the country, no matter how hard the Taxation system is. Germany has opened its arms for me and I have to make it equal by paying the country's economy back. I hope to see more people treating Germany the right way and not just using it for their own benefit.

Just fix the damn foreign office issue where working visas take at least 2-3 months to be processed. You can ask any non-EU student about this matter, we have to beg them for every call/urgent appointment, and they just tell us to wait, and yeah the typical reason is "overloaded". Germany needs laborers, but the working visa process is never a priority. I don't mean to talk shit, but Germany has produced so many talented individuals. Still, it's very irresponsible to those eligible to work, not to mention the tax thingy yet.

Well, pick one, > Free studies, "paying" later at work > Pay studies, "discount pay" later at work Assuming you can't flee anywhere after choosing, I'd pick option 1 still. USA does have sexier taxing system, but everything else is pricey. Yes, they do have cheaper Gas, but overall living cost. The most expensive US city is New York, and it has a (minimum) $1,500/month for living cost. Compare to Munich's $1,000/month. EU : USD rate is 1 : 1, so there you go.

All in all we have it very good here in Germany compared to the rest of the world, overall high standards, high quality of living, something that resembles democracy and relatively okay social security if our job ever gets terminated or we become ill. Berlin for the edgy, Frankfurt and Munich for the rich people, Kassel for the normies. The very east for blooming landscapes and the very west for ridiculous accents. Belgium to look down to, Switzerland to look up to, France and Italy to travel to in under 5h. I love it!

It's intellectual influence and economy drive. People, who studied in Germany, were living, working and buying things in Germany for many years in a row. And, actually most of them do stay. And ones, who don't stay, get a personal network here, which increases the chances, what they'll travel here or work with Germans (on their business or so) later in their life. As well, it just promotes some values, meaningful for Germany and its government all over the world. This all is huge.

Sad but true for American Universities. Student debt here is insane & many Americans carry that debt for an entire lifetime. Additionally, there are basically no scholarships for doing a masters in the US , which can help you get a higher paying job after graduating (depending on what you studied) But nowadays, your degree doesn’t guarantee any return, which sucks if you’re drowning in student debt. There are people I know who are 40+ who are still knee deep in student loans 🙃

Having 2 German AFS daughters I can tell you that this is but 1/2 the story. In the US it is damn near impossible NOT to get into any number of UNIs whilst in Germany it is damn difficult to get into one. The problem in the US is that no one takes a look into what's driving the coat of 'higher' education; you can bitch all you want but when just in my state of WI, there are four UW system UW's all within a 50 mile radius in our least populated area of the state, River Falls, Stout, LaCrosse, and Eau Claire. In addition there are numerous private schools in the same area. One would think that with all this supply the cost would go down BUT . . . .

Lessons learned from your other videos are that you don’t need to say hello to strangers. If the locals don’t talk to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t welcome you. They just don’t pay particular attention to anyone, whether you are a tourist or local or a different race.

European countries can save money by not competing against each other with building armies, and can instead provide their people with education and Healthcare. (Case in point: Angela Merkel and the French president in 2008, both argued that getting ukraine into NATO would be a bad idea. Very accurate. But America is in the business of wars. No, you wont get it from the university, but from the state you live in. But there is a catch: If you are not fast enough with your studies, they can cancel it. Mostly they use the Regelstudienzeit as a meassurement, witch is the "regular time" you need for the degree. Regular just means, it is what the state thinks is enough. For some studies that does not work out. Also, if your parents have an income, they will tell you, to get that money from your parents, depending on the income. Still better than the US.

In the US a lot of people do get scholarships or go to state universities or community colleges. There are some affordable ways of going to school, depending also on the state and place where one lives in the US, but unfortunately a lot of young people were led to believe it would be ok to take large loans in recent decades.

German here, acually this is true. We germans cannot understand why students in USA have to ruin their life with a big credit.
If youre not white then see you after 5 years. Just sayin
@@lop-951plm Right buddy!
Study for free in Germany and work in the USA without debt seems fair to me, but unfair to those who paid for my studies.....
No way anyone would move to UK 😂

American educator hearing “interest-free loan”: What you’ve just said does not make any sense to me. What language were you speaking?”
EU : USD rate is 1 : 1, so there you go.
plus a half payment only
In the 90s there were also zero-interest government loans for students; but those loans were one of the reasons why the 2008 crisis was caused.
@@thebluescaptain "sexier"? Also, I think you missed the joke
@@xabierpozopozo9653 sure, this was the reason, not big banks giving out impossible to pay out mortgages, speculations on every market, the inflation of companies etc.

I love it!
Kassel für die Kanacken 😭😭
Glad the Dutchies aren’t the only to look down on Belgium

Oh! Hey, I know a good translation for this word: emotional damage 😂
More liké you are aware that thé World politique and économiques are crazy even mad and you seemed to be few to sée IT so it causes you pain
And a lot of really big student protests, when they did make fees in the 00s, which led to removing them again.
This is a problem here in Argentina as well. All of our neighbors have only private schools, so they come to Argentina, study for free, and then they leave. Public university, my friends.
Yeah.. there is a lot of Brazilians that do that. But I guess it's the same in almost every country, in Brazil I got into a public uni(which are the best) and then I moved to Germany and now I pay 50% of taxes almost hahah
brazilian here: as far as I know the problem is that anyone can be argentinian very easily isnt it? I hear about lots of brazilians going there to study medicine, but no one comes here to study in our public unis because you have to be a citizen and its not trivial to become a citizen here
Argentina such a beautiful country, I would love to live there one day. Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina.
VIVA LA LIBERTAD CARAJO. 😂😂😂

Thanks so much for the scantily-clad preview of US student life 🔥

Correction about it being free: It's not free, it's tax deductible. Which means you pay a fee each semester but get it back from taxes. Don't ask me why they added that extra step... Though if you qualify for bafög, that fee comes from the interest free loan!
You captured both sides perfectly!❤
Yay, thank you!
Great video! Thanks man. I have been in Germany for three weeks now for studying, and honestly, everything is really great here! Although I gotta say, Radical's videos about german cultures had really prepared me for here, so I kinda expected certain things!

Free education is a very unbelievable thing to me. It can't be imagined in other countries. The more I'm learning about Germany The more I'm getting astonished. Thanks sir for your excellent presentation. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
@AzizulHakimAshik-lj6hl We Germans pay for this with the very high taxes and fees. The community pays for it to be very cheap to study in Germany compared to other countries. It is not completely free, but these are the details (400 euros per semester compared to thousands of dollars in the USA)
Most European nations have similar systems, and it ultimately comes down to the strength of the welfare system and the country's general wealth
Weltschmerz is my new favorite word
it's wrongly used here and nobody uses it anyway
I pay 320 euro for the semester in Germany: it is transport and other fees, btw.

One would think that with all this supply the cost would go down BUT . . . .
The truth they don't want to tell you.
Also community college is cheap if you're willing to work.
it's only difficult to get into a handful of programs like psychology or medicine, most are pretty easy
@@RadicalLiving I would imagine, though I don't know, that engineering schools in Germany would be highly competitive and difficult to get into as well.

I do not think it is negativ at all if someone leaves the country after graduation. It leads to cultural, political and economic exchange and is part of the soft power a nation has. A lot of the influence of the united states is based on it by spreading their ideas.

I’m visiting Berlin next week! Thanks for all the videos! I wish learning German could be easier. But I guess you need to put time and effort into it nevertheless. Lessons learned from your other videos are that you don’t need to say hello to strangers. If the locals don’t talk to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t welcome you. They just don’t pay particular attention to anyone, whether you are a tourist or local or a different race.
In Berin I was schocked by how much English I heard spoken, it’s crazy you really don’t need to speak German 🤣
@@michaelvonfriedrich3924 How come I didn’t find that many people speaking English? It was so funny that people say “ My English is not so good.” to me. I said “ oh, it’s totally fine. @@donaldthompson7766 yes, people think its free. I earn 1200 brutto at my part time job, and there are at least 300 euros which I will never see like health insurance and retirement fund. 2:17 This is the main reason why Germany has big problems with higher education: the German government pays for the studies of the future scientists, engineers and researchers that the US will have.

But in this case, you couldn't pretend anymore that your education is better than in US :))))))
@@ivani3237 The basic and secondary educational system and vocational training in Germany are much better and much more superior to the garbage North American educational system. The only thing that the USA is better than Germany is in the management and operation of private universities. Likewise, in terms of quality/price, German private universities are much better than North American ones. Furthermore, the difference in quality between a North American university and a German public university is not that great: I've studied physics at a German university and my level of physics knowledge was much higher than that of my North American colleagues who studied at Harvard.

An interest free loan, that's what they told us as well. Now they went "oh yeah, so that interest free loan right, it's not interest free anymore. You will have to pay, including over the already loaned part." -The Dutch Government
Imagine. The income taxes in Germany are lower than in the Netherlands.
finally someone has it worse
Well. You certainly know how to handle a whip!

I must say, although taxes are higher in germany, other stuff is cheaper, overall cost of living in total is much less

Would have loved to see a part where the student in Germany gets exmatriculated for failing a class and never allowed to try for the same type of program at any German university for the rest of their lives 😂
In most cases you have to fail a class three times. It is still stupid.
There was the thrid way to study in university. No tuition fee. But you may (or have to) pay to pass an exam having no knowledge and without preparation. No money - failed. Prices for an exam depends on market situation: percent of smart colleges on the course. Frequent payers have prevelage to negotiate the price. Guess country

I was on a scholarship to a tech school and they gave us an incentive. If you stayed and worked for 13 weeks you would get a $1,500 bonus. I stayed for a year. Soon after Covid started. I'm seriously thinking of moving to Germany, but do you need to be A2 or B1? Also, I read that Vienna, Austria is a little cheaper than Berlin, is that true?
2:18 we need the funny moustache guy back!!! 🤣🤣😒
The agreement between America and Europe: America provides military security, Europe does what America says. European countries can save money by not competing against each other with building armies, and can instead provide their people with education and Healthcare. (Case in point: Angela Merkel and the French president in 2008, both argued that getting ukraine into NATO would be a bad idea. Very accurate. But America is in the business of wars. That said, despite the problems this brings Europe, it's probably still better than European countries providing their own military security.)

I am surprise that not all US Americans study in Germany. 🤣 But I guess the US universities spend enough money on advertising to make all Americans believe that they are the best unis in the world. I don’t think that’s true. German unis have a really high standard. The only downside in Germany is that one professor has a lot of students, so they often don’t know the individual students.
There are also ways to study more affordably in the US as well. There are scholarships, state universities, community colleges, etc.
But isn’t it true that you only get high profile jobs when you went to an Ivy League university? And I guess you can only go there when you are really rich or really smart.
Nice ideas, but you forgot one thing: They would have to learn german to study there. 😅
That depends on the university and the subject. Many unis also have courses in English. Some departments are even completely in English.

I would say: do what you enjoy and don't let yourself be led astray. Of course you need money - just to fund your living expenses. Stay focused and don't let assholes and idiots ruin it for you. (Yes, by that I also mean the government and the state). And it's best to leave politics out of it altogether. You're pursuing a dream and personal goals in life. It's your life and you only have one. Best regards 😊
The ending might be a clever twist (I suppose obligatory), but... yeah right, like hell I'd want to be living in the US... No possible way.
