This girl, I SWEAR!!!! Mel B and Simon did make a good point, BUT we gotta respect that Darci wanted to expand on herself, and show who she is, and who she can be.

She’s a great singer and she’s a great ventriloquist. But when she combines them together she’s outstanding.
I totally agree. I didn’t expect it. She was amazing.
When she sings, shes just another one of the many singers out there. Even great singers need some distinctive feature to stand out. Wat she did is the opposite, generalizing herself with no unique point. She even forgot to give out petunias singing style when she switched to her sing.

We can't keep Darci a child forever. What Darci did in the past was magical but she is growing up and expanding her act. She just needs time to work out the proper balance between the old and the new, to see what works and what doesn't. She's bound to make the odd stumble along the way, we all do, but I believe that she will soon find the proper mix and then its going to be epic.
So much talent wasted to only singing...such a shame...If I were her I would perform both again but in adult world or maybe that was too challenging for her so she chose the easy way out...singing only
Tell that to the other older ventriloquists that have won! She made a big mistake. There's already too many singing competitions and plenty of singers. Ventriloquists are rare and special. She had the best of both worlds abd she blew it!
No one is trying to keep Darci as a child. What Mel B and Simon were expecting was for Darci to expand her ventriloquism talents. Darci in her whole life has never been just a ventriloquist. She's been a comedian, actress, singer, and songwriter, many times doing all those things in one performance at her shows and on AGT. This one was my favorite performance that Darci has ever done, a little bit of everything in one act.
@Floridagal_657 Darci hasn't blown anything. She's always been singing solo. And she has stated publicly that she is not throwing away ventriloquism or the puppets.

Actually, the only changes that Darci has made recently are actually recording some of her original songs, and now she playing a couple of musical instruments.
People grow up and change. The initial attraction was how good she was as a ventriloquist and how young she was at the time. Now, she is a young adult and like all artists wishes to grow. This is a bit like what happened when Bob Dylan went electric. I think she is brilliant and should pursue both her individual singing career and to innovate with ventriloquism. She is a courageous young woman and I hope you does not get discouraged by the feedback from Simon and Mel.
What an AMAZING performance!! It was so creative and DIFFERENT!!! Shame on the judges for not being open to change - change that didn't abandon Petunia!!
The strength of the orig routine was Darcy singing thru Petunia. Many have 'thrown their voices'; I never heard of someone singing as a veltriloquist. That is what won thehow for her. AMAF, Darcy changed her 'brand'. If that is enough to win again remains to be seen. Maybe if Darcy ' slipped ' the idea of her playing music on top of the established 'brand', maybe that would preserve the brand & put a new 'icing on the cake'; rather than completely changing the recipe that won for her…We'll see!
well, literally she abandoned Petunia for a lame guitar! I agree with Mel and Simon, Darci needs some blunt voices. This new show was underwhelming, sharing the stage with distracting people, one of them moving Petunia, no witty script, less complicity with her puppet, the voices blended too much, this was not a great ventriloquism. I understand she feels the pressure, she wants something new, and perhaps she thinks to be a singer, but her real value is not that. Marketing and clapping hands can mislead her, today she got the hype of the moment... but tomorrow... I am not sure she can be something being detached from her puppets.
@@eliweitz8106 Darci did not invent musical ventriloquism. Have you not seen Terry Fator? Darci is really, really good at it, though. Also, doing the same thing over and over because it brought you success previously is the path to your act becoming stale and repetitive. Performers must grow and evolve in order to keep people's interest.
@@trattogatto Darci didn't abandon Petunia. She was still doing both voices and did what Paul Zerdin did in making Petunia come to life on her own. Something many people seem to not know about Darci is that she was a singer first before becoming a ventriloquist. Ventriloquism made her famous but it's clear to me that her first love has always been singing and music, which she is now returning to. I've always thought Darci had enormous potential as a vocalist despite what people like you think.
@@jixer1956What worked for Paul Zerdin is not working for her, so this note is irrelevant. Petunia moved by someone else lost commitment and "life". Darci has a good voice, as thousands of other singers unknown by the large public. Singing is not her core value, and she never won for this ability. Her performance is ventriloquism, and in this show she let loose this art, to pick up a guitar and do some average spectacle. It was worse than her previous performances.
I think ALL the performance was absolutely amazing and wonderful. They were wrong in saying it took away from her performance. It made it even more fantastic and incredible ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I am pleased that Petunia has branched out and no longer needs a hand holding her up. She has grown into the rabbit that she was meant to be.

My friend and I went to see Terry Fator right after he had won AGT .The show was in Pigeon Forge Tennessee it was between his win and when he started his contract in Vegas .I was surprised at what a good singer he was .He sang songs from all genres all with no lip movement. He put on an excellent show and stayed for pictures and autographs.The guy that he pulled from the audience to be part of the show thanked him for making a fun night for his birthday.
Terry Fator is the mentors mentor, no doubt! But Darci Lynn Farmer, is the student surpassing the master! Terry Fator, plied his trade for more than 30 years before going on AGT. Darci, got her first puppet on her 10th birthday... And masterfully won America's Got Talent... At 12! The prodigy prevails!
@d.miller9850 I'm a huge fan of Darci's. I'm also a fan of Terry Fator. If given the choice, I would choose Darci every time over Terry. Darci's skills are better than Terry's, especially the facial expressions she has. She is the best at giving the illusion that the puppet is real. The thing that Terry has over Darci is longevity and versatility. He can rightly be called the best of the best. It's up to Darci, if that would be her passion in the future, to become the best ventriloquist ever. But she would have to make it her life's work for that to happen.
Kudos to her for stepping outside of the "expected" her. When she combines her two phenomenal talents, she is sheer perfection.

What, they expect her NOT to change? If she showed back doing the exact same thing she did when she was a kid, they'd criticize her for not being different enough. I get what you're saying. But if Darci had won AGT as a solo singer at 12, would the judges and fans have to expect her to change talents in order not to be a little girl anymore?

@jaybizman8594 I love everything Darci has ever done and is doing now. My point about if she won AGT as a solo singer at 12 is just to say no one would have expected her to do something different at age 19. So why would people expect her to do something other than ventriloquism to show that's she's grown up now?
@mrlee6895 her act was more childish when she was younger because she was a child. It had a youthful charm that an adult wouldn't be able to pull off as well. Singing solo is different-nobody grows out of that. And there's nothing inherently childish about ventriloquism, but it's the way she did it that made the whole thing more kid-like. Point is, she was a little kid at the time who hadn't figured herself out. Now she's grown up and wants to branch out to explore different parts of herself. You can't expect someone to still be interested in something they did when they were a child. People grow and change. That's what Darci has done, while still respecting the talent that got her this far in the first place. I think it's a lovely balance.

That’s amazing using a timing system to play with your guitar it’s part of who you are an awesome musician and ventriloquist.
I think there is a part of us all that loves cuddly toys and wishes that they should all talk! A Ventriloquist makes that happen and we all imagine our own favourite doll or cuddly toy talking! But I know where Darci is coming from as I was also a Puppeteer. You suddenly grow up and feel that you should be Adult. Darci - don't ever forget what was 'Fun' and never let go of those toys because the moment you do - you'll loose yourself! Bring them back every so often as you said you wanted to preserve ventriloquism! Never give up on that dream - I beg you! It's a worthy cause!
Darci has grown into such a beautiful young lady. So much amazing, raw talent. On so many levels. Now like that butterfly. She is coming out of the cocoon to soar. Hope she ALWAYS is able to keep that kind spirit. While chasing her dreams. Gold buzzers, trophies or not. Darci is a winner!!
This was actually one of the best acts ever and I don't think Darci could ever leave her puppet Petunia I think her name was (pretty sure it is) because she never gets old! I thought this was in 2023 but no she is literally back 7 whole years later, I love her and I am seeing the views go up in seconds while I am typing this comment, she is just like a real celebrity now. She looks exactly the same just with better teeth (because they were tiny before), more makeup and she's taller so its also like she will never get old either, this was so different and creative and I think the next Darci Lynne will be Brynn Cummings and I am only saying that because she is a ventriliquist and doesn't sing like Darci but she has the exact same amount of talent as her and Brynn really looks up to her so yeah and I love watching AGT, I just remembered I haven't seen it in so long and I can't believe that Darci got THE GOLDEN BUZZER on her audition (or you can say FIRST EVER EVER EVER act)
There's also Ana-Maria Margean from Romania who does sing and do ventriloquism amazingly. And there's Jamie Leahey from BGT, yet another young singing ventriloquist. The future of the art is good hands with these kids.

Completely disagree with Mel and Simon. What Darci did was unique and magical, you could see the wonder on the faces of the audience, they loved it. I can easily see her one day having her own kids show. As she gets older her craft is getting superior, she's definitely going places, a star for sure with or without AGT.

I agree. They shouldn't want to keep her locked up in a box. She's no longer a 12 year old child and wants to expand her career. She's an excellent singer and ventriloquist. I think combining the 2 was a great act, and the audience loved it.

There is no witty script, less complicity with her puppet, the voices blended too much compromising the main goal of ventriloquism: pretending to be 2 instead of 1. Petunia is dead, for what? A lame guitar? Meh.... Darci is good, but not enough to be a stand alone singer. The hype of the moment and the clapping hands are not always right, show business can ruin people, I hope she realize what is her real value. If she wants a bigger show, she could share the stage with other ventriloquists, like a muppet show 2.0

The judges are very wrong. She is 7 years older now. It’s amazing to see how she has evolved. I would’ve been disappointed if she went out there and did the same thing she did at 12.
Age has nothing to do with it. Many great ventriloquists are older than her. She just is still very good at it.
The judges were not expecting a 12 year old Darci. They were expecting a multi talented 19 year old Darci. The judges and Terry Crews have seen Darci grow up through the years as a guest performer. Darci has improved dramatically since she was 12. That's what the judges expected to see. But they should have been complimentary.

I agree with what Sofia was trying to say. What makes darci so great is her singing voice through ventriloquism. She doesn't have a special singing voice that stands out from others by herself.

How she got to the top was special. There are dozens of singers just as talented. There wasn't anything special about this performance for me.

I don’t understand why all these judges want to put this woman in a box! She’s grown up and ready to make her own decisions. She’s still the same person but she has a lot more to give.
I am very proud of Darcy she wants to expand herself with new techniques combining future and past together. That's her own decision what she wants for herself, no one else can say how she has to be and i like the new side very much.

I think that Simon and Mel B just refused to move on, expand, open their minds, etc. It was sad for me because I think in that moment she realized exactly what she was hoping to avoid . . . that people would see her as a one-trick pony. I hope that the audience follows her vision of being more than just a ventriloquist. She has a very entertaining personality, very happy and energetic, and I think she spreads that when she performs. I think she can do more too.

Yes the judges are aware of Darci's musical talents. But Fantasy League was about bringing back the best of the best in the talent each contestant performed previously. I loved the performance too.

She's not giving up the ventriloquism. She's expanding her skillset.

Wow! 😲 I think that Darci has really matured nicely. She has carried her act on to entertain us and please more people.
After listening to Mel B and Simon's two cents, they're opinions were outdated, I mean the music wasn't my cup of tea, but I can tell it was well done, and on top of that she did still include what they're used to, for someone that's been doing the same kind of thing for so long, she did a good job trying to express herself while still easing into the change and still including the sudden surprise of it all.

There was nothing wrong with what she did, she’s growing up and trying new things, I wouldn’t want to be known as the puppet guy for a puppet act I did as a 12 year old for the rest of my life either, she didn’t know her future back then, but she has an amazing voice and if she wants to be a singer, she definitely should, because we all wanna find ourselves, but when we are 12, we don’t think about these things yet, so they should give her more support for her choices rather then telling her to go back to playing with her cute toys when she was 12 haha
