Although we LOVED our time on the coast in San Diego, we took a little detour off the California coast for a couple weeks (don’t worry, we’ll be back to the ocean soon!) and went on a road trip from San Diego to Joshua Tree full of unique and delicious spots!

    • No it’s not weird. We enjoy seeing that in others videos also. Sometimes we just don’t think that stuff will be entertaining because it’s the same thing everyone else has to do we just do it in a different place every time. We are trying to incorporate a bit more of that stuff though. Thanks for watching!

The ladders canyon hike liked really cool! Fun! The ladder that Kathryn said was really scary, didn't look bad on camera at all. Interesting. That's a big honking lens! I've had a 400mm... they're awesome!

    @jamiewalters4@jamiewalters42 жыл бұрын
    • The camera can sometimes make things look scarier or less scary, but it was pretty tall and almost vertical and since they aren’t attached and wobble, it’s a bit scary to think it may fall over. Adam was a bit scared too, but of course everyone's idea of what is scary is different!

      @AdventuresofAplusK@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
    • @@AdventuresofAplusK Just to clarify, I wasn't being critical or saying it wasn't scary... I have no doubt it was... just that the camera perspective didn't convey that very well. I've been on similar climbs and they definitely can be a bit scary, particularly if the ladder isn't attached!

  • The Galleta Meadows sculptures were SO cool, my favourite was the dinosaur by far, but I think it's thanks to you guys doing the slow mo running from it - classic! Ladder Canyon was amazing. I've never been there before, but it gave me plenty of nostalgia for other hikes through canyons. I never got the In n Out burger hype, but unlike you both, it never grew on me. Do they still only offer beef burgers and their version of veggie is just salad in a bun? The dates milkshakes looked amazing. I adore dates, and can see why you think there might be a bit of a caramel taste as I think dates are really caramel-y.😋 I never knew dates were so expensive to farm, but given the costs of them in supermarkets, it makes a lot of sense. A real shame you had to cut some things out of this trip - curious to know if any of it was Palm Springs (I'm a sucker for mid century modern, so would love to see you guys take us on a tour round there!) but I'm very much looking forward to your Joshua Tree video next!

    • Funny enough, we thought it was a dinosaur, but it was a sloth lol! A Harland's Ground Sloth, which is much larger than a regular slot haha. You would really love Ladder Canyon...it was a ton of fun! I don't think they have a veggie burger there, but we could be wrong! We aren't a huge fan of their fries, but unlike some burger spots, they get the cheese nice and gooey on a lettuce wrap, which isn't something that all places do. Unfortunately we had to cut an entire Palm Springs video to prioritize Death Valley instead, but to be honest, we would rather go back without the van when we could experience it like a true tourist without Kona.

  • Another great video! I’ve prowled around Anza Borrego for years and love both the photography and the offbeat desert dwellers. Unless it has rained recently, you can get most places in an AWD vehicle. Best to check with the park visitors center though.

  • What a fun trip on this video. You guys are so adventurous! I can't imagine climbing those ladders with those backpacks! Some of those rocks were so close I don't think I would be able to get my hips through there! lol The sculptures were amazing. Not a fan of the In and Out Burger. We got our first one in Yuba City, CA last May and I was so excited! Not sure what all the hype is about. Just a plain old burger to me! : (

  • another way you can get to Joshua Tree National Park from Ladder Canyon is to take Box Canyon Road as soon as you come out of the road to Ladder Canyon you go left on Box Canyon Road instead going right to Mecca. Lots of wildflowers in Box Canyon if it is a good rain year. You go north on Box Canyon and it will take you right to the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. There is some free BLM camping area right at the entrance. Or you can go into the National Park to Cottonwood campground, great campground if you have an RV or larger vehicle, bathrooms and water available in the campground. Only downside here is no shade. From there you can drive north thru Pinto Basin, Tirkey Flats San Dunes and Cholla Cactus Gardens then go north thru the park and then exit at either the north entrance in Joshua Tree town or exit in Twentynine Palms. South entrance always less crowded than North entrance, while the south part of the park does not have Joshua Trees it has some other interesting features.
