A1Brian these 540is are actually little bmw easter eggs... you can find them cheap, kinda reliable and they sound GREAT with a decent exhust set uo
Yea with a V8, 6 speed manual and reliable! I had to do it up. Its like the forgotten BMW.

Dude this sounds amazing. I have my 540 with a single straight pipe, because of the diffuser, like you said - super cool that you made room for the double. Totally true what you said about the drone too, unless I’m giving it gas, it runs super quiet.
I still have it to this day. Puts a smile on my face every time😂
After hearing this I might be getting rid of my Magnaflow single and doing a catback like this. Sounds superb!!
GEOTEK Home Services Of Gloucester, VA This car did come with a magnaflow muffler and resonator delete when i bought it. It sounded better then stock. But this is the way to go😂
Sounds bad ass! I did the same thing for my Quad setup. I am still able to fit my spare wheel but it's at an angle. I also have the M5 resonator.

I just bought a 97 540i for 3k with high mileage. I plan on fixing the engine to top notch & after that putting an exhaust with headers & making it a beast. Love the car man

That point where you said it goes from being really quiet to loud could be vanos (euro vtec)
Oh yea i know what vanos is. I was trying to explain how if you stay at a steady speed. Its quiet. But when you get on it. Its loud.
My grandfather has the limited edition so far,the 540i has stock exhaust,then my aunt rev it,its soo fucking loud🤤🤣

You absolutely need an x-pipe. As of right now it sounds like two 4 cylinders running at the same time

X pipe wouldnt separate the sound in my opinion as u joining 2 pipes into 1 again. . The only way to separate the sound of the 2 heads would be by having a slightly longer pipe on 1 side with a bend in it. So 1 sounds before the other to help it burbble even more. But it sounds awesome as it is. U done a good job. Id b very much happy with that sound.

@@A1Brian an xpipe, merges the two sounds of the two sides of the motor, to get the proper v8 sound. Having each side of the block Unmerged gives you a hot rod exhaust setup.

I will see. But you basically grab a jack. Strong 3 inch piping. And jack it up against the spare well where the straight pipe will go. Just watch out for the battery.

Nicee! As long as the timing chain guides and vanos is done. Nothing major. Keep an eye on the cooling system. Only problem i really have is the radiator. On my 3rd within a year😂

Sounds very aggressive but no for a daily driver. I like it more decent and loud only when you floor it. But enjoy it you are still young. Truth is whatever you do V8 will always sound awesome

ik what u talking about my e38 v8 have a muffler delete. and if I hold the gas pedal at a curtain point the car will cruise without slowing down and it makes the muffler noise silent like its stock exhaust

I explain it in the video. Basically bashed it up with a pipe and jack.

Thanks! If its an auto, be careful with the transmission. They tend to blow. Almost every friend i know with an auto trans, it went bad on them.

The tips are from the exhaust shop. Lous Custom Exhaust. They did the whole setup.

This is the nastiest sounding 540i I have ever heard in my life. I also have a 540/6 speed. How did you get the second pipe to clear the spare tire tray?? Did you just bash the metal in to make way? Thanks in advance!
Yuma Okamoto Thanks! I had to get a dual diffuser. And for the spare well. I basically smashed a 3” pipe in to dent it up. To make space for the exhaust pipe.

Duran Stephen Kinda hard to tell. Still has the low end torque. The gas is about the same too. No big changes.

No not really. If you are at a steady speed. It gets loud when you get on it.

Lethal Redd Thanks! The headlights are the face lift ones. Like from 01-03 with the halos. They came with the orange/ amber corner lens. All i did was change the lens to the clear/ euro kind.

cody melvin They added a bracket with a hanger and welded it to the pipe. Kinda like how it is for a muffler.
how did you prop up the spare wheel housing....heat and a jack?
Anthony Michael I got a jack and some 3 inch black plumbing piping and i jacked it up into the spare where the pipe would go. I explain it in the video.

Anthony Michael Na i didnt use heat or anything. Kinda have to do it a couple of times and then it will bend easier.

I didnt cut anything. Just dented up the spare to make room. Then brought it to an exhaust shop.

With no resonators, it will make it pop a lot more for any setup you get

Yea i explained it in the video. Basically a piece of 3inch plumbing pipe. Got a floor jack. And jacked up into the spare well to make space.
A1Brian might have to do this on my 540. Don’t want super pop tho. And then I really want dual muffler on my touring.. so I guess il have to cut the wheel well. Sounds good man
Yea its harder to do if you want to add mufflers. But the dual setup does look nice.

I did it at an exhaust shop. I used their pipe. I didnt buy it online. Its just regular pipe.
