  • It was my last 10 bucks. I was going into the convenience store to see what I could stretch for the next few days until I could get paid. Homeless gentleman outside asked if i could get him something because he was so hungry amd hadnt eaten in a few days. So, I got him a prepped sandwich and a water, which took most of the 10 bucks and bought myself some instant noodles. I decided I would eat 1 pack per day til payday. Came out gave the man the sandwich and water. He fussed at me! Raised his voice, cursed and everything. Picked the sandwich apart and threw it on the ground! And told me he dont drink water! I was so hurt because I was gonna be hungry the next few days trying to look out for someone who said they had not eaten in several days. I remember when my parents split, we were homeless. I remember missing meals, being hungry so when he said he hadn't eaten in days I thought it was only right to share, but that dude...wasn't hungry, he was hustling. Fortunately, for me one of my clients at work came in that day and said the Lord told him to bring me something. It was a hot lunch a bottled water and $32.77! I caught the bus to the grocery store and got real food.

  • I was commuting to a job interview, I saw a homeless man gave him my a water bottle wrapped in a wash cloth and turkey and provolone hero from blimpies. He said thank you baby girl haven't eaten in a few days. After I got hired for the gig on my commute, I'd see him on my way to and from the train and give him a few dollars or food. During my last week of work I couldn't go down the steps to the station. I asked someone what's going on, found out the homeless man I've been giving food and a few dollars passed away. It's easy to overlook the homeless, I am glad I was able to help him in some small way. It was also a reality check for me today or tomorrow is never promised. I give when I can, all honestly that's all you can do.

  • When I was living in Atlanta, I was trying to give my food to a woman that came on the train saying that she was hungry. I had a nice little plate too from some soul food spot, too. I tried to hand it to her, she took it, threw it down and punched me. She was arrested. I saw her months later on the train, and she looked sickly. Really skinny. On the other hand, a young man came up to me to ask me for my scraps. I bought him his own plate, but he still wanted my scraps. He ate that first then ate the food I bought for him. He was sweet. I saw him months later after that, he was looking good and he told me that he found a job.

  • A homeless caucasian man asked me if I could buy him something to eat, I said sure, Chipotle (this was during my lunch break), he said yeah, that's perfect! I told him to order ANYTHING he wants. He ordered a burrito, then asked me if he can get double chicken, I said ANYTHING you want! He said oh man thank you, and then he said you sure you can afford it, I said we wouldn't be in line if I couldn't! he asked if he could get a drink too, I just looked at him and he smiled and ordered a large coke. I paid for it, he hugged me and said thank you so much...God bless you! My coworker was with me the whole time and she said why you always hugging, talking, and doing things for the homeless, I simply said because God is watching me like a hawk! I'm trying to sit next to Him when we meet, it is NOT a game!!!!!

  • Here's a good story to helpfully restore faith: I was approached once by a homeless man asking for money and he said to get something to eat. I only had a card (don't carry cash in the downtown area) but offered to go in a corner store there and buy him something. He accepted and went and got one sandwich. I looked and asked him "Is that all?" He gave me a truly humble look and asked " Can I get a drink too?". That man was grateful. I didn't have much but wish I could have bought him 5 sandwiches that day.

I was just going to leave but some told me to circle back around. He came out i asked him did he get enough to eat he said i could use more. I said ok let me park. Went back in (I hate drive thru's) don't judge lol. The lady immediately asked was there something wrong with my order I was like no my friend needs something and I'm going to take care of it. This guy pulls out coupons! I was like damn thats sum humble pie. U spending someone else's money but still not going overboard. I paid he said thanks and I left.

It was around 6:00 am I had just purchased a two for three with what was probably close to 25% of my life savings at the time so I walked out of McDonald’s and a homeless guy asked me to get him something to eat . I quickly explained my financial situation to him and offered him one of my biscuits.....this joker had the nerve to frown with disgust and ask me what kind is it ??? I said the FREE KIND !!!!!!! And walked off still two breakfast biscuits strong 💪🏿😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • The free kind 😂😂😂 But, this happened to me at KFC drive thru. He just appeared at my window asking me to get him something to eat. I was scared shitless first of all because he could have snatched my purse on the seat next to me. I said ok and asked what he wanted he told me. I reached the window to get the food and I ordered what he want and by this time my windows were all up besides the front window. When I ordered his food I ordered a 2 piece instead of the 3piece. He said damn can you get it right?😱😱 I went ahead and ordered right and when I got to the window he’s now standing on the other because he can’t be by the window with the cashier there. So, anyways I went ahead and paid for it and when I got I hurried up and drove the hell home. When I reached home I told my boyfriend you see how I does think about you and have him his 3piece meal. Who he think he was talking to. I know he knew I was scared but once he was out of the way of harming me peace ✌🏾

  • I was driving to Wal-Mart as I saw a homeless white guy under the light asking for money for food. When I got to Wal-Mart, I purchased two of everything on my list that don't require an oven( fruits, bread, etc.). I purposely got the red light so I can hand him the groceries. He took the bag, looked inside and threw it at me.😢 I was so scared because he was a tall angry white guy and I was a black 23 years old short girl. I was glad my new born wasn't in the car that day. I went home confused and scared because his sign said that he was hungry and need food. I gave him food. Why was he mad? My husband made me promised to not EVER put myself in such position again. I could have lost my life.

My heart hit the floor & I cried so hard. I jumped out the car & gave him some money. He thanked me so much. He went & got him some food. I also had a few that looked at me & said that's all you got? 😳 We never know what can happen in this thing called life. Always be grateful no matter how big or small. I was cussed out plenty of times for helping the homeless but I care not what others say or do. I am who I am.💜

One day I was walking out of a 7- Eleven and I saw a homeless women sitting right by the door and she asked me if I can buy her something to eat or spare some change but I've already spent most of my money because only came with enough to buy a Slurpee and all I had left was 25 ¢. That wasn't enough to buy her anything to eat so I just gave her the 25 ¢ and I told her l'm sorry I wish I could give you more that's all I had and she was so greatful for that 25 ¢ she just smiled and told me thank you and have a blessed day and I have been very blessed ever since😃😃😃

When I arrived with the a meal for 2 people and a soda, she stated, I don’t eat Church’s Chicken but I eat Red Lobster, so I stated, so do I when it’s affordable for me, I said okay I’ll go as she called out her order. Next time I saw her, she said you never came, Exactly and don’t say nothing ever to me again. PRIDE WILL MESS YOU UP!* *The Bible said, if you teach a man to fish, he would never go hungry, This young man 18-20 was stealing plates from a known hospital in Atlanta, I stop him and asked that he follow me to McDonald’s, by me knowing the manager I asked her to give him a job, she complied, also giving him everything he would need for starting the next day, also anything he wanted from the menu. Next day, he never showed up and got arrested for stealing properties from that same hospital* 🏥 *Then, he gain a room, cot, and meal, but lost his freedom. UNGRATEFULNESS HAS MANY LESSONS!*

As the awesome parent that I am, I took this as a moment to teach my son to be compassionate. At any rate, I drove back up the road bought food went back and allowed my son to give her the food. The lady said un non I don't eat that. I'm like really??? It took all I had not to say some ugly things in front of my baby. You already don't work and don't have anything to eat, and then you gonna be standing on side of road begging in a bit. No ma'am Pam. We told her be safe and we left. You right King people are a mess. I was told to be thankful for what you get too bc one day you'll get something you want or need. As my folks always taught me " closed hand don't get nothing".

One guy pointed out that there was a restaurant who's food went right through him. But people would offer to buy him a plate and he had to turn it down. When you live on the street, you have to be really strategic as to where and when you can use a bathroom somewhere. The LAST thing you need is the runs! I was a student and my heart went out for a young woman who was huddled under that Boston cold. I gave her a couple dollars, the woman looked at, hissed, and said, this cant buy anything. She tucked it under her belongings and went back to her cold bed. I was so shocked. Anyway, that did not deter me from giving to the homeless at all. In fact I've given to many that were grateful. Mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction can impede a person's ability to exhibit gratefulness. Be thankful Shuler that you listened to the spirit to share what you have with the less fortunate. Dont worry about it, it's your heart that matters. And when you give, dont expect anything in return your Father in heaven will give you your reward.

When I learned he doesn’t always have food to eat, my children and I began feeding him. About a month in I finally introduced myself and asked if he liked the food and inquired on his health, and food taste mainly I didn’t want to give him something too sweet if he had diabetes. This man was so grateful during the entire conversation. He said I’ll eat anything you send, and after each reply he said thank you. I told him to thank God not me. Maybe the man was new to being homeless. SHULER keep doing what you are doing your heart will melt when you know you have Blessed someone who is truly grateful for your generosity.

You want to believe it's because they weren't raised with manners, but the reality of it is they're just the homeless version of an entitled person. Some people want all the respect of the world without ever trying to be respectful themselves. When respect is humbly offered to you don't scoff at it, reciprocate it or you may never see it be offered again. Just sayin 🤷. You don't have to kiss anybody's feet, just a simple thank you will suffice. 👍

Some guy gave me this whole long story about having diabetes and needing to eat for his blood sugar and trying to even show me where he pricks his finger. I had already ordered my food so when I got to the window I asked if they would just give me a double order of what I already ask for. He's standing at my car window and right up against the drive-thru window being picky. Talking about he didn't want what I ordered he wanted fish. And saying he didn't want the fruit punch that I ordered he wanted grape soda with no ice. When the lady gave me my bag I just pulled off like they can figure it out. The next time I went to that Rally's he was standing outside again. I wouldn't even give him the time of day... he also didn't say thank you but I guess I pulled off before he could.
