VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Meet Joe! He's the designer and owner of this 2016 Isuzu flatbed truck that's topped with a custom DIY box build. His rig doesn't lack storage, with interior and exterior units holding everything needed to be full-time on the road.
The simple but efficient kitchen has an induction stovetop, a durable sink, and a top-loading fridge camouflaged within the cabinets. A lounge area converts into a dining area directly across from an adequate bathroom with a shower and toilet. Joe installed a massive window above his main seating space and a skylight above his bed. This rig is suitable for all excursions and lengthy trips off-grid with an exceptionally well-thought-out power setup and 100 gallons of fresh water.

This was My dad's old camper that he used for years to travel around and visit family. He had to give it up for personal reasons and I'm glad it seems to have gone to a good owner who will enjoy it as much as he did. Also he's pleased af that his old camper made it onto KZhead he's been sharing this video to all his friends.
It’s a great camper. I got to film this tour with Joe and I’ve got to say your dad did a great job with the design.
I'm sure he has been asked a million times, but is he available to make another one for purchase?
Thanks for your comment. Although I never met your father through my purchase, I've always enjoyed speaking with him by phone and sharing with him my adventures.
@@danocorley Tell you what I will shoot a message to my dad and see if he can get you the contact information for the guy who built the camper for him. No promises though, I'm the scattered brain of the family.
@@joehovorka5312 I appreciate that, vicarious adventure can be almost as good as actual adventure.
This dude needs to start a podcast or be on the radio with that voice.
Agree!
He's no James Earl Jones....
Why do people have to lessen someone because they aren't someone else. James earl Jones could be god and I wouldn't care
@@largemarge1603 absolutely not, no
Yes, a terrific personality too.
What got to me most was you did this so you could be close to and see your kids. Most people don't know what divorced/separated fathers have to go through to see their kids. Congrats on your effort. Great rig by the way, esp. love the solar power system. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
I feel bad for those fathers that have a hard time seeing their kids! Meanwhile, my ex is waiting for me to beg him to send time with our kids! 🙁
Google : Alex Baldwin and parental alienation . .
well me and my children do every thing together we even bought 167000 surfing boat together
These box trucks just make so much sense. Separating the house from the vehicle, in the short term doesn't matter, but vehicles wear out so quick, the box can be moved or reused or even turned into tiny home ..
Definitely one of the benefits to a trailer, truck camper or box truck. Having the ability to separate your house and car can certainly be an upside!
Would’ve loved to see his restroom in the video but other than that this is a sweet rig 🔥🔥
WHY do you NEED to SEE anyone's toilet? They all are basically the same. The rest of the rig is well thought out and top quality ... the bathroom probably is too. JEEEZZ!!
@@contactjoy4140 To actually see the size of it so I could compare it to the thousand of other Rig Builds I’ve been researching this past year for my build. Also other ppl have made the same comment about the restroom but the most important answer to your question is NOBODY asked you a dang thing so have nice day Karen ✌🏿
@@contactjoy4140 Because it's one of the hardest things to set up.
he probably chucked all his stuff into the bathroom, which is why he didn't show it. He also mentioned he likes to use the toilet for storage, so it's probably full to the roof anyways... Though it would have been interesting to see how he keeps that stuff from collapsing then ;-)
then where does he shit?
I love gentleman. Straightforward, to the point & nothing fancy. He has everything he needs in an orderly fashion.
I bought a rv and have been living in it for a couple of years now. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about rent or a place to stay. That has made my life so much better with that worry put to bed.
You've got me thinking of doing this as a saving strategy, plus I can travel!
OMG......his voice 🥰 Love the awesome rig especially your living room, den, chill zone ❤️! Joe, thanks for the tour of your simple yet amazing tiny home! Wishing you all the best in life and with your endeavors!
Very cool rig! I love how simple Joe keeps it! Less is more and hopefully, he's found some tranquility along the way! 👍
I want to do what your doing!! I think it would e amazing. Beautiful home..😊
Yes, but how come it is a "stealth" if it has visible windows and very obviously it is a home on wheels?
As someone who loves tiny houses and as someone who works for Isuzu Commercial Truck of America I find this combination awesome and love what you did with your box.
This guy should be doing his own channel. I would love to see him tour other tiny homes. He is so easy to listen to.
Love the design on this rig - also love that a heater kicks in to keep the batteries warm. Also love the living space is detachable, in case you want to swap out the flatbed !
There's a starting point for everyone. Yours is real nice in every aspect. I'm just pulling it together like the slow, old grandma I am. I'm in an ambulance conversion. Solar power is the only thing left before i take the dive into full time nomad. You inspire me. Thanks and i love the spunk of your daughter's plan. YOU GO GIRL! THANKS for sharing Joe.
good luck peggy
Well laid out van, his voice is one of an announcer. Wish you all the best
Tommy Chong's dad.
I love Joe and his family. They are truly some of the best people around.
So, there really is a Joe Isuzu! 😁 It's nice to hear that his daughter is growing up intrepid, too. Curious about the photo on the wall at 3:25 - it looks like Snoqualmie Falls, a familiar sight from my childhood growing up in the Valley.
@@chezmoi42 That is his son going over Sahalie Falls in a kayak!
@@wildsage Thanks, I don't know Oregon as well as WA. It's beautiful!
I love this thing. Only thing I would want changed is ability to access the cab without going outside as a safety concern.
Good point !
While not impossible, it would be very difficult and cost prohibitive on this truck. The cab flips up and forward to access the engine.
Now that’s a vehicle I think I could actually live in.
Truly Agree!!!!
Definitely!!!
Yah it sure is livable
@@largemarge1603 huh I'm from atlanta and I'd say it the same way she said it. Which word would you switch out for 'actually'?
I would have to keep my table set
A word of caution for you Sir: as someone who worked for a fire extinguisher business AND has dealt with an RV fire in the rig I lived in, I strongly recommend you put that extinguisher inside and quickly accessible to you, and have it maintained regularly. Your kitchen, batteries, and engine are your biggest risks so place it where you can access it if any one of those ignites. You can buy a cheap mount and install it yourself. An RV fire goes from spark to fully engulfed more quickly than you can imagine. Your extinguisher is your most valuable asset as it may help you hold on to everything else. Get the largest extinguisher you can find and make sure you practice using it with the PASS system so it becomes instinctual. Only use it if it is safe for you to do so - your first focus should always be on escape. A second extinguisher mounted in the cab for quick access when you're driving is also prudent. Every second will count.
This is great! I love that he can lift the box off! That would be great for times when the truck needs any servicing or repairs. 😉🤞
Exactly what I was thinking. The most persistent issue that keeps me from jumping into a commercial truck build out is what do you do when your "house" at last breaks down?
Hands down, for a single person, this is the best build I've seen thus far. I love how stealth it is and since I still would like to have a car for when I'm in a more urban setting, having a simple construction trailer would totally fit the package. Inside, I think my only changes would be the aesthetic of some things but overall, I give this a 9.8/10. Bravo!
Why not get a rental or Uber and Lyft.
This isent stealth at all. Its got a ton of windows...
One of the best stealth rig talks ever and totally honest/humble about it, I love this so much!!! 🤩
This guy should have his own show.
I'm trying hard to focus on the van but this gentleman's voice, his stance/build and his facial hairs are elegant
Much respect to you for the job you did on your tiny home a d for making the best out of your changing circumstances. From Canada 🇨🇦
What a human being ❤️ great voice too. Inspirational build 🤘🤘🤘🏴
whoa, i have lithium amp hour envy 😋. anyway, my personal favorite part of this build (besides the owner) is the bed placement behind the cab instead of the rear of the vehicle. i know it's a little irrational, but my bed in my van build puts my head at the rear driver's side- the one thing i didn't think out enough maybe, because i get fleeting thoughts of getting hit by another vehicle while i'm in bed.
Tip from Chrome: when parking try and find a space where no one can park behind you. It's for safety if someone is trying to rob you or if someone were to hit you from behind. Good luck!
Awesome set-up! Comfortable, compact, and so homey! I love the fact that you don't have to rely on outside electric sources - you have some massive amp-hours! Love life, my friend!
Boy, I loved this build! Clean, simple and loads of storage. Well done Joe.
You are amazing and I love your attitude. Your rig is also awesome. I love that you have a vice cupboard, and I love that you just keep the door shut when you want to. It's cool to hear the kids appreciate this lifestyle!
Wow,love this rig and this guy, best of luck to you, from the West Coast of Ireland
Cool rig,I can’t wait to build mine, I picked up a Ford cab over design that has a Cummins 12valve and a 6 speed Eaton transmission. What I loved about it was that it has the big cargo doors on the back but also has matching doors on the side so we can open it right up!
I defs would've sacrificed cupboard space for a larger deeper sink
that voice & his focus on what is truly important in life ❤️
Great looking and well thought out use of space, love it!! Great for you taking a bad situation(divorce🙁) and doing exactly what makes YOU happy; and your kids are on board with it! One life to live, sir!! Be safe and enjoy the hell out of life 😊
Absolutely amazing 🤩 a well thought out design.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great way of living the minimalist lifestyle without any hassles. Joe seems to be a stress free kinda of guy, which I aspire to get there one day. Joe, stay safe & healthy... Abrazos
Great rig and tutorial! I like the easy separation of truck and box, especially if big repairs are needed.
Whoa! I love that set up! Good for him doing what he had to and keeping his kids where they need him! Now if I could get food and a shave from DC to Oregon. Good on you! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love that closet/kitchen layout. Very compact and uber practical. Thanks for sharing
I wanted to see the bathroom!! 🤣But. very nice and personable gentleman with a nice tiny home.
Me too! 🤣😂
Silver Fox 😍 love the build
What a great video. I have seen a multitude of van life folk and their youtube clips / series, but for me your home is one of the best.
This is very nice. Majority of people have some type of Velcro attached to everything but having an inside latch on the handles was a great idea. He seems at peace, that's what matters...And handsome🤷🏽♀️😁
The living in the car, love that reaction. I'm retired and spend 3 months out of my car. I've traveled dam near all the major roads on the west coast. All good, there's loves, terribles, pilots etc all good help full. There's tribal truck stops gas way cheaper, all good, sleep here. It comes to 1-2 days get it together laundry, water, trash dump, some food. It's cheap and safe, Move on love it.
Humble and real... thanks for sharing!
Looks very well made👍😍best part is, how supportive he is to his kids❤️❤️❤️I so want to have a Tiny Home🏡 for me and my son😊
Put a wooden 'lid' with lips on the edge over your glass stove to protect it from the falls. Or it can be put on hinge at the back and a steel backsplash built on inside for dual advantage.
Honest and Real Tour.... Loving From The Caribbean 🇻🇨
Truly inspirational...arguably th e best video on the subject of van life I've seen...thank you for this.
It's efficient and meets your needs and you seem happy with it. That's what matters most! Good job Joe! Happy Trails to you and be 🐝safe!👍🏻🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
That’s a man’s rig. Love the brutally honest presentation.
This is my favorite I've seen. And I've been watching these for year's.
This tiny home is awesome! My wife and I have a 38ft pull behind camper and love it!
Your rig is beautiful. Congratulations sir. Really happy for you.
Hello from a fellow Oregonian. Beautiful simplified home. Happy travels and adventures. God bless. 🌻🥾👌🏼
Love your attitude. Your build out is excellent. Nothing about your build is “stealth.”
Best Isuzu truck ever! You’ve created a great tiny unit for yourself & of course when your out with your kids. Kudos to you bro. 👏👍
Whatta lovely guy , Can feel the visdom and experience he has from been areround and lived what he did live.
Super chill Dude. I really enjoyed the video. Take a shot every time he says “multitude”.👍🏻
Great Rig and such a great reflection of a chosen Lifestyle and so inspirational for children.
I saw your rig traveling through Bend Oregon. I am impressed, I was wondering what it was like inside? Thank you for the tour! Awesome build!
Love the dynamics of this way of living. It calls to me as i have been a millworker for 26 years now. Great video and i would love to have a few cold ones in your company.🍺🍺🍺 Best of luck to you and your kids.
The White Turtle (La Tortuga Blanca) has everything one could need. I wished we could have seen the bathroom but I know what he is talking about, with regard to storage. Our compost toilet area is separate from the shower area and a number of things get stored in the shower stall until we need to use it to shower. No instant hot just yet. All water has to be boiled on a two-burner stove, emptied into a bucket of cold water, mixed to a comfortable temperature and a submersible, battery-operated camp shower used. Not ideal but it does the trick. 😄
This guys a role model what a cool dude
Very nice setup. Well thought out. I hope you have been able to maintain connection with your children as it sounds like in this video. When you mentioned you slept with the heat off I thought of one of my kids who sleeps cold all the time. They would love it. I used to, but bodies change so I prefer warmth. So many options with this type of rig, I am glad to see it all. Safe travels to you sir!
His kids have to be real lucky to have a cool dad like him. Such a nice build for a cargo “box” type truck.
Love the lay out & simplicity.
Love your style. Beyond sufficient...excellent build
Awesome Rig! Thanks for sharing!
This is as close to perfection as I have seen in a van or box build. You have covered every desire I want or need for comfort and functionality. An adjustable chaise lounge to sit on instead of that bench would be perfect.
lots of great practical features and design solutions. love it.
That was awesome Brother! That really spoke to me! Thank you!
I love it!! Its small n compact n efficient, way to go!!!!
Great rig..beautifully done..love your voice
I love your rig never dreamed it had that much room! Love have plain he spoke also
Wow....just wow! Blessings from Indiana!
Great visit to your home. Safe travels.
Wishing you a beautiful and blessed life always
Thank you appreciate you sharing your journey. Very awesome impressive rig.👍
Excellent job. Thanks for sharing your space.
Yes nice, a lot of space and thank you for sharing
He’s very likeable and I love his simple no fuss lifestyle ♥️👍
I love his analogy about feet and eyes, you're spot on!
What a great truck rig to have for your home
With rent spikes and crime in Dallas I need something like this. Thank you for sharing
Nice rig and set up. Thanks for the tour. Pretty cool
Awesome, I'd love one of these to roadtrip around North America
One of the best I have seen. Wants me to get one. Thanks for sharing a great video.
That look's perfect. Wish you all best man.
Cool rig and a cool guy. Safe travels!
Very nice! I love it! Looks like a very nice design! Thank you for sharing!
Very nice truck, great layout. Thanks for the encouragement.
I could listen to him talking all day long..the rig is gorgeous 😍
What a personable fellow, and a really good van design.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful tiny home on wheels 🛠
You have a cool hookup! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I think this van is absolutely fabulous. Could definitely live in here! What a handsome man!!! 😊
pretty cool rig! yeah I'm now in between isuzu truck since they sell here often in Sacramento, CA or a transit bus. I love your clean cut design and how clean it is, too and your love of enjoying your kids' adventures, too!
Great rig and above all...home. Safe travels.
So, happy for you!
