VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Meet Joe! He's the designer and owner of this 2016 Isuzu flatbed truck that's topped with a custom DIY box build. His rig doesn't lack storage, with interior and exterior units holding everything needed to be full-time on the road.
The simple but efficient kitchen has an induction stovetop, a durable sink, and a top-loading fridge camouflaged within the cabinets. A lounge area converts into a dining area directly across from an adequate bathroom with a shower and toilet. Joe installed a massive window above his main seating space and a skylight above his bed. This rig is suitable for all excursions and lengthy trips off-grid with an exceptionally well-thought-out power setup and 100 gallons of fresh water.

  • This was My dad's old camper that he used for years to travel around and visit family. He had to give it up for personal reasons and I'm glad it seems to have gone to a good owner who will enjoy it as much as he did. Also he's pleased af that his old camper made it onto KZhead he's been sharing this video to all his friends.

  • A word of caution for you Sir: as someone who worked for a fire extinguisher business AND has dealt with an RV fire in the rig I lived in, I strongly recommend you put that extinguisher inside and quickly accessible to you, and have it maintained regularly. Your kitchen, batteries, and engine are your biggest risks so place it where you can access it if any one of those ignites. You can buy a cheap mount and install it yourself. An RV fire goes from spark to fully engulfed more quickly than you can imagine. Your extinguisher is your most valuable asset as it may help you hold on to everything else. Get the largest extinguisher you can find and make sure you practice using it with the PASS system so it becomes instinctual. Only use it if it is safe for you to do so - your first focus should always be on escape. A second extinguisher mounted in the cab for quick access when you're driving is also prudent. Every second will count.

  • Hands down, for a single person, this is the best build I've seen thus far. I love how stealth it is and since I still would like to have a car for when I'm in a more urban setting, having a simple construction trailer would totally fit the package. Inside, I think my only changes would be the aesthetic of some things but overall, I give this a 9.8/10. Bravo!

  • whoa, i have lithium amp hour envy 😋. anyway, my personal favorite part of this build (besides the owner) is the bed placement behind the cab instead of the rear of the vehicle. i know it's a little irrational, but my bed in my van build puts my head at the rear driver's side- the one thing i didn't think out enough maybe, because i get fleeting thoughts of getting hit by another vehicle while i'm in bed.

Our compost toilet area is separate from the shower area and a number of things get stored in the shower stall until we need to use it to shower. No instant hot just yet. All water has to be boiled on a two-burner stove, emptied into a bucket of cold water, mixed to a comfortable temperature and a submersible, battery-operated camp shower used. Not ideal but it does the trick. 😄
