How to Fish the Wacky Worm Full Length: studio.kzhead.info5HpOib1sWI4/edit
What are you go to colors??
@@mikesullivan7153 it’s in the main video I’m pretty sure he states which colors he likes don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure.. one of his videos says it lol if that helps
@@mikesullivan7153 Green pumpkin Black Fleck for clear to light stained. Stained to Muddy Black and Blue. I buy them by the 100 geni.us/Dingers100Pack
What kind of kayak is that. I cannot find pedal kayaks or pedal fishing kayaks anywhere
Hands down my go-to rig when the bite is slow or I'm probing different areas of cover. When I have my nieces and nephew with me thats what I'm setting them up with and they'll pull them out left and right and have a blast.
Right on Tater… tried and true!
Same. Rigs these for my daughters and wife and they get hammered.
I feel like a idiot. I throw this in rotation and never thought how easy and a good learning lure this rig would be for my son and daughter. Theyve been loving the action they get on a 1/16th oz ball head jig with a 2.75 inch zman slim swim for creek smallmouth and rock bass.
@@wendellfishingcan I just say that it's not an octopus hook but offset bait hook.
Hes also using a piece of clear shrink tubing on the worm so the hook doesnt tear it up as fast.
I just fished wacky couple of days ago, I’m try the clear tube on it, I’ve been using o rings, clear plastic looks better! Good video, my go to bait!
I use zman zinkerz worms. They do get more buoyant after soaking it for a while but a 1/16th oz whacky hook gets that fall rate back to normal and i never have issues of them tearing in the middle like yama senkos do so quickly. Id say 15:2 ratio fish caught on zman zinkerz to senkos in term of durability
i always throw the wacky rig with an o-ring
Yup those senkos rip up quick
I thought that was scotch tape haahaha
You said more about your retrieve than 99% of the videos out there....THANK YOU!!!!!!😊
Thanks Jorden.. appreciate it
@Wendell Fishing I just get pissed, all these vids and no one tells about the retrieve...fast, slow, top or bottom...and WHY are the doing the retrieve they are doing!!! Thanks for letting me vent lol 😁👍
@@JOovshak82 its the same retrieve on the drop shot in deeper water.
Exactly no one hardly no one ever mentions retrieve, seems like to me.
I literally use this in the spring, summer, fall, cold , hot, cloudy, sunny and it works everytime
ALLL DAY!
I can fish every lure in my box and not catch a damn thing, but when I put the wacky on it’s time to catch some fish
Grant... you are in good company brother
I'm in NE Ohio and this I'd exactly how I feel, and it's very unfortunate. I'm obsessed with my tackle, lures, and baits. To the point where it's like I'm a collector at this point. Granted, when I'm in creeks or tribs, a lot of my cranks, spinners, roostertails, or even whopper ploppers will work to my advantage. However, most local ponds or inland lakes [since I don't have a boat or kayak unfortunately] I'm stuck to bank fishing, and I'd say about 90% of the time I'm only catching things with a wacky rig, a frog, or a Jig with a Craw trailer.. not necessarily COMPLAINING because I'm still catching them, but I wish I could feel the rush of nailing some on Spinner, or a chatterbait [legit have never caught one with a chatterbait 😑] a swim Jig, a Glide Bait, one of my deep cranks... it's such a bummer to have such cool gear that I use and use and use with no luck no matter all the techniques I research and try lol
@@dakota2842 yeah man a lot of lures are pretty much boat exclusive. Idk how y’all’s water looks up there but chatterbait near cover or grass, especially shallow, usually works. Same thing with spinnerbaits. Also remember to pop them every once in a while and play with your retrieval speed.
I’ve never had any luck on a wacky rig, but a Texas rigged roboworm is my go to when the bite is tough
Nice!
i have a really hard time with hook sets on my texas rigs, but they are my daily driver because my lake is filled with logs and weeds. any tips for setting?
@@Aethelvladtry lighter gauge hook or different style worm hook what r u using now
I don’t know why I haven’t used this rig in so long. I just thought about how long it’s been and this short is making me want to try it out again like yesterday. Absolute classic man 👌🏼
Heck yeah.. just picked up 2 18's last week with it
Another good way to fish the wacky rig is pull it up as far as you can and let it sink all the way to the bottom, then pull it up and let it sink again, do this the entire retrieve fishing it really slow. They’ll hit it on the fall. A wacky rigged Senko is one of my most confident lures when the bite is slow, along with a Texas rigged fluke with a 1/16th oz bullet weight, give it some pops then pause.
Okok 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾love to see people out fishing 💪🏾🫵🏾
Heck yeah! GET SOME!
I use the o-rings and weedless hooks. It works great for fishing in and around weeds and grass.
Right on Jake...
I also use weedless hooks on frogs. I take the double hooks out and put weedless down. 10 X's hook ups.👍

Just started using the wacky rig last year. It is now my confidence bait.
It's just plain deadly... Right on Chris
2/0 gamakatsu octopus hook is my choice. It is super consistent in hooking and landing bass while I keep seeing other people lose fish.
Right on Wrink.. I've seen Size 1 - 2/0 recco'd for this. Glad you are picking them up.
Probably the most versatile bait out their. Have been fishing the wacky worm for over 10 years. To save on the baits use a rubber ring so not to rip the bait with hook.
That's Right ✅️
Right on Bruce
@Wendell Fishing yes sir sinko's and yum dingers also. Green pumpkin purple flake is killer color now for me. 👍Good fishing 🎣
Senkos are so much fun to fish
One of my favorites!
Senko Wacky Rig is my go to for bass. I have so many different colors. Love my Senkos!
Right on CK... Interestingly enough.. I only use GP, GP with red fleck, or black senko's.
Same here, Senko all day. I use the 5in half green half white wacky rig with an o-ring and I’ve caught more bass on that than anything else
Smart man... wacky and a ned rig. This guy knows his finesse game!
Nothing works better for me in the Midwest than these two lures. It's crazy.
@@wendellfishing same here man! I live in Indiana and started off power fishing with reaction baits. When the Wacky came out I jumped on it. Then the Ned and Niko rig. Those stick worms are so versatile. I use them in all 4 seasons and mainly stick with a finesse approach now. I dont blame you one bit brother! You got a decent pig to show for it!
@@billywood9717 Yeah.. people clown on me saying they are lures "that require no skill and catch everything" I don't know about you.. but that sounds like the perfect lure. Who would want to fish with the inverse?
@@wendellfishing lmao! Well said! Man Ive caught carp, crappie, bluegill, largies an smallies on the wacky. Its hilarious seeing people's reaction. I agree with them, idk why they bite it either... but they do an thats good enough for me! Lol thats what im in it for!
I learned this rig years ago, but he broke it down on the retrieve better than most.
Thanks brother! Get some!
Been doing it with a Zoom finesse worm since ICast 1998 fishing show in Vegas. Learned a lot for sure.
Right on.. never tried it with a finesse worm before. Always something to learn

Right on EZGray.. what state did you catch that in?
@@wendellfishing Mississippi!
@@Gray.1063 Right on!
5 tugs and no bite is golden advice 90%of the time! The other 10% are those crazy ass end strikes that end up catching me some of the biggest bass I've caught. I would actually reel in 75%of my line after a few drop and pauses, then drop and pause to the shore after I figured that out.

They don't get much cheaper than this: geni.us/Dingers100Pack
Excellent advice 👌
Glad it was helpful Joel!
Ahh yes a senko worm can’t go wrong with them, once a fish detects some wierd feeling in the life they will let go so you need to let it sit there until a bass sticks personal experience for me only!
I’ve fished a wacky rig every single time I’ve been fishing for like the past 2 months and I’ve yet to catch a bass. I did catch a warmouth but they literally bit everything put in front of them. I will not give up!
That's unbelievable to me.. if there are fish there.. I have never had any trouble having them devour a wacky.
@@wendellfishing that’s the weird part about it cause im tossing it in all the likely areas for em to be. I can’t say it was a wacky rig but close to it, i was fishing a senko Texas rigged with a tiny split shot that helped it fall but it fell slower than if I had a bullet weight and I caught my last bass on that. Anyways I’m not gonna give up on the wacky rig, I’m confident it will produce, maybe I’m not using the right color, retrieve, etc. I’ll get it right eventually 🤝🏼
I was using those back in 2004 ,crazy how they blew up to this day . Great lure .

For sure.. the fall and pauses are the magic
You should toss it a couple feet out and watch it sink also when you tug it it comes up a little
Keep up the great content

I wish I could use this, but bass are rare in my area, they’ve been over fished and some people aren’t even sure if there’s bass in the lake anymore
Some of my favorite places to fish is where other have told me "There's no bass in here" :) Where do you live?

@@wendellfishing I also love tying on a weighted wacky hook with a 6.5" zoom trick worm. Caught some of my PB's on that rig.
My Fishing buddy fishes senko from the start and I use a small square bill Crankbaits to see which was better for that trip and both put on the same lure.
Who wins?
How do u keep from the worm coming off. I use this and it’s a good rig but it seems to come off at some point of bringing the fish in.
I got you: kzhead.info042cneczdig
Buy o-rings, easy and cost efficent
I’ve tried them and not a fan, bass usually steal them off my ring and I don’t like the hook parallel with the worm.
@@wendellfishing thanks.
Love the lews rods! They’re my favorite aside from the shimano slx dc.
Right on Brother..Love it
This is my go to rig, I hook this for wife and kids.
My daughters love this rig as well!
I somehow figured this technique out all on my own just by watching people do it. If it doesn't get bit, there's simply no fish in that spot lol I consistently catch fish out of my local pond, all sizes. Iv heard different colors work better at different times so I'm using a baby bass color kahlins wacko worm if anybody is curious, their worms seem really durable as well
That's how I feel about it... I'm pretty confident in my ability to find fish with the wacky rig.. if I ain't catching them.. they likely are not there
You also forgot to mention the dead stick, I probably caught more fish dead sticking a senko than any other way, it will catch you 2lbers to 10lbers
Well, I will need to try that out.. thanks boss!
Caught more bass on that set up than any other setup I’ve ever used
Truth!

Hands down. Live bluegill will catch you monster. Be a ninja and don't get caught 😂😂
Little piece of shrink wrap in the center of the senko will make it last way longer

I'm finding on medium to high pressured waters that the wacky rig is less effective every year. When we first started fishing this rig 25 years ago it was truly a game changer and 20 to 40 bass days were the average. Ned rig has replaced it in my arsenal as the "go to". Still have it ready to go but doesent produce like it used to on my waters.
Where you located JJ?
Wacky worm literally never fails first time I ever caught a fish on artificial bait was with a wacky rig
Nice Bennie
I use my plopper to cover water fast. If I can get a bite in the middle of the day on top water then I know already that I can drop shot those worms over the top of them and they'll smash it every time. Good tips and good video.
Right on Lol Spoolin!

Right on Matt!
He’s using a Lews spinning, reel and rod. Are you talking about the one that’s behind him or the one he’s using I mean I don’t know too many people that use Zebco anymore that was one of my first rods. The genesis in that thing worked great for 59 bucks shut up

@@mattburke9554 when I first started fishing for bass and being competitive, and every chance I could get into a call my first small mouth on a Jirkbaits 13 years ago I was using live worms and I got on my buddies boat and I had my coffee my four rods!!! I turned around and try one up and set my rods. Accordingly, I turned around,🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ where is my worms go I said!!!! my best friends, father said boy I know you’re catching fish, but I’m a show you today how to have fun without running to Walmart or having to compost or go buy worms, he said, and you can even use this trick to catch some channel cat and rockfish, he threw me a bag of worms, paddle tail swim baits, some EWG, and worm hooks and he told me from that day I will be OK. He said just start buying to what you need for what lakes you’re going to be fishing and I fish all northern Baltimore County, Howard County, Macgomery County, some Virginia and western Maryland I do go to Solomons Island and my first few rides was the ZIP Code Genesis. I had the medium and the extra heavy, and then I bought me a Saint Croix’s legend tournament jerk, bait rod, and my jig and worm rod, I got me a Dobbins fury, medium heavy and then after that I started to realize after the years and years and years went by that things that were $400.08 years ago you can get for 120 today same make the same strength and some of the carbon modules are a lot better depending on how it’s made and I will see this arc rods are great and I’ve been landing big catfish on the cheapest series to me. It’s all about the drag system and how you set the hook it’s just like any tool or a drill you know everything‘s got its own way for me. I’m still trying to learn topwater. Do you know the only way I can strike bites six in the morning never caught number for whopper poppers, but poppers spook, Junior pencil poppers even hell raiser, and buzz baits was my first go to topwater, but if I’m not on the right water like this year, I’ve been stuck to four lakes I just don’t have the transportation right now because of me and my wife share a vehicle and my work is right near Lake Roland so it sucks and I’m in Baltimore city I got to drive deep into Virginia three hours away. If I want to get on some good trout or some good bass, Lock Raven had smallmouth in Baltimore city hitting good and then the last three years has been snakeheads up there deep so everybody that used to fish for largemouth bass is a bear one they called a dragon chasing the dragon is what they call it up here. I guess I’ve only got a few of them, but God bless you brother take care you got my email man you ever got any questions or have any good juicy stuff let me know man I’m always willing to try something out, record it and show somebody if it worked for me or if it didn’t. God bless you brother. Sorry for the damn notebook of conversation.

I find a sporadic twitch twitch pause, with uneven intervals in between twitches to work well. sometimes one twitch followed by 5 smaller twitches. then one big hard pop. just make it random . standout from the bait. give them a presentation no one else has given that bass. or just make it super realistic. bass are like dogs, you can hype them up too.
