He didn't even have to be a dick about it he could have said "Hey mate I'm looking for a guy who likes short notice fights and fighting in enemy territory. That last weight cut looked brutal, come on up, have some fun and we can be friends after" I personally think that would be a crazy good fight and even if it doesn't materialize you get brownie points for calling out a dude many don't want to fight and doing everything in your power to keep the fight on in PErth.

They didn’t put Strickland against Whittaker because he was coming off losses so it doesn’t make sense to match #1 coming off a win vs #7 coming off two losses. He got the call to fight Imavov cause it makes more sense ranking wise to put high ranked guy coming off losses vs low ranked guy on a win streak.

Didn’t even think of Sean Strickland replacement situation. Would have been a win win for everybody assuming Sean wanted a high ranked opponent and better payday but maybe he knew fighting sooner against his most recent opponent was the best situation to place him back on the win column. Regardless Rob being on the Perth card would have been amazing but seems like there’s some play here with regards to the title and Alex and izzy.

It’s extremely disappointing and disheartening for Boddy. To not be able to fight on the Australian card his home especially after the past few years with Covid. But this is where they must have both fighters sign the contract before the fights get announced this way it ensure ( to a degree ) that the fight is official and it will happen obviously with the exception of injury. I’ve heard Anthony Smith on the ‘believe you me’ podcast say that he typically doesn’t sign the contract until fight week which I only 7 days before the fight. Smith has never robbed anyone of his opponents by not signing or messing them around. But this is clearly the UFCs fault for announcing the bobby v costa fight when they knew they were is contracts negotiations with costa.

They didn’t put Strickland against Whittaker because he was coming off losses so it doesn’t make sense to match #1 coming off a win vs #7 coming off two losses. He got the call to fight Imavov cause it makes more sense ranking wise to put high ranked guy coming off losses vs low ranked guy on a win streak.

Didn’t even think of Sean Strickland replacement situation. Would have been a win win for everybody assuming Sean wanted a high ranked opponent and better payday but maybe he knew fighting sooner against his most recent opponent was the best situation to place him back on the win column. Regardless Rob being on the Perth card would have been amazing but seems like there’s some play here with regards to the title and Alex and izzy.
Robert deserves a title shot. If pereira moves up, Izzy and Rob should go at it again. And I believe Rob will pull it off this time. It was close last time.

It’s extremely disappointing and disheartening for Boddy. To not be able to fight on the Australian card his home especially after the past few years with Covid. But this is where they must have both fighters sign the contract before the fights get announced this way it ensure ( to a degree ) that the fight is official and it will happen obviously with the exception of injury. I’ve heard Anthony Smith on the ‘believe you me’ podcast say that he typically doesn’t sign the contract until fight week which I only 7 days before the fight. Smith has never robbed anyone of his opponents by not signing or messing them around. But this is clearly the UFCs fault for announcing the bobby v costa fight when they knew they were is contracts negotiations with costa.
The Reaper wanted strickland because it would be another easy soul to claim.
