  • I don't think people realize how good Blaydes is. He's one of the best if not the best wrestler in the heavyweight division, his striking has improved and has respectable power. Blaydes was coming into his own. Really hitting his stride. *And Pavlovich finished him first round low diff*

  • Pavlovic's uppercut reminds me of a slider in baseball. The pitcher has the same delivery, but one pitch goes straight (fastball) and the other drops away (slider). The batter can't be sure which is coming, and by the time he gets a read, it's too late. In this case, Blaydes was caught standing there watching, trying to read the punch. This is subtle, high-level striking. Really impressive for such a big man.

  • i think sergei’s background in greco roman fuels that confidence in throwing the uppercut on the takedown. yes he got beat on the ground before, but he has so many years of wrestling experience in his past, along with 5 years to have improved on his flaws. he is going to be an extremely difficult puzzle to solve at this point in his career, and i think even jon needs to be very careful.

    • The problem is Jon will probably spam takedowns early unlike Curtis. And what happens if John does take him down? Does he have a plan to get up or hold guard? We haven’t seen a lot of MMA ground work from Sergei. Wrestlers are notoriously bad off their back

  • Man… Sergei’s rise has been crazy. I remember when Overeem finished him back in like 2019 and I didn’t think much of him…now he’s murking everyone within 1 round. It’s so sad that Francis is gone because Sergei vs Ngannou would be absolutely insane. Two of the scariest heavyweights ever going at it.

    • i think that overeem loss was a fluke. He didn't get taken down, he was tripped in a clinch, then ground and pounded. Overeem has decades of experience clinching with heavyweights and ground n pounding. I don't see jones being able to do that with heavyweights. he'll have to try to use leg kicks and submissions or something

  • Wtf no. Cyril just got embarrassed he is NOT 1 win from title challenger especially not while Jones is the champ. Sergei is the #1 contender we don't need another Colby at heavyweight. He's earned his shot. If I were Cyril's coach I'd probably want him to fight Volkov and then Curtis since he's obviously a very hittable wrestler and give Cyril the chance to get his skills and confidence up with wins over more complete fighters instead of fat brawlers. Maybe Aspinall if he's healed up instead of Volkov. Weirdly terrible take Weasel 🤔

  • I met pavlovich in Miami, he was the coolest guy, we took a picture together- he seemed like honest to god the most humble fighter I’ve ever met. I hope he gets gold- I know he’s not perfect but man he’s real talented and I’m glad to have met him. He should get the title shot- ciryl gane shit the bed his last time out

    • Nah, his skill is just ok, but he has great physical power, which makes any shot he lands be more effective than it would be for anyone else, and a great chin, which makes any shots his opponents keep landing on him less effective than they would normally be. He's like ngannou was before his miocic rematch: unskilled but physically very prominent.

  • 1:08 that sneaky kind of jab-uppercut is a super effective weapon for Pav imo. Gr8 job of highlighting that punch, Pav used it very effectively imo. I feel confident he'll use that again with a lot of success against other HW's, especially ones that use a lot of level changes. That, the jab, and his big rights. And showing how it looks identical so he can disguise it so well is great insight. Well done!

  • I have seen enough, Sergei is the new emperor, he is going to rule the heavyweight division for a long time. This guy is different he will run right through Gane Aspinall etc, no way not a chance they don’t have the punching power he has. Jones never fought a beast like that, Gane was way too hesitant. Sergei will not care about Jones wrestling skills at all. He will just go after him and knock him out as well. Hope that fight will happen but I guess Jones is going to retire after beating an old Stipe

  • I felt like Curtis landed some like, check jabs they looked like, instead of check hooks, (if I saw it right idk only watched once). Blaydes landed some pretty solid imo. Pavlovich is def hittable but i think he feels he wins an exchange against anyone in UFC HW div. Even if he does leave some openings here and there, it's tough to argue w his results 🥶

    • It would be similar to Adesanya vs Pereira where Gane is Izzy and Pavlovich is Pereira. It'll be speed and finesse vs pure power. Gane will need to be perfect for 25 minutes whereas Pavlovich only needs one clean shot to put the hurt on Gane. Would be hell of a fight. Hopefully Jones will fight more than once a year because if he holds the HW belt hostage, then he will be no better than Francis.
