Sergei Pavlovich vs Curtis Blaydes ended in a 1st round TKO where Pavlovich found the jab to destroy Blaydes. Why did Blaydes not wrestle enough? How did Pavlovich find the uppercut? Who does Pavlovich fight next?

Every win has been a 1st round knockout. I want to see him fight Jones, before Jones retires.
jon is gonna retire after fighting stipe he won’t none of that😭
Jones doesn't want that heat
After Jones fights Stipe he’ll have nothing left to prove
But what is Francis doing? 👀
Jones has spent years bigging up Miocic and the reason is obvious. Jones's plan has always been to: 1. Say Miocic is the best HW 2. Beat Miocic 3. Therefore he is the best HW 4. Retire
When I was a kid I thought every Russian looked like this guy, he is for sure straight out of an 80’s action movie.
Yes, I remember the film Red Heat with Schwarzenegger, where Russians were portrayed. In Russia it was viewed as a comedy

Scariest thing about Sergei is how calm, composed and collected he is.

No, its the absurd power. The Russia ice blood makes it worse.
I think the scariest thing about him is that he's probably not even punching at his full power.

Yeah, how Gane is even in the conversation at this point is just stupid. And all due respect to Stipe, but he shouldn’t be in the conversation either. Guy is over 40 and got his head destroyed by Ngannou in his last fight. No way he’s the same after a KO like that.
I'd love to see Sergei fight for the title next but I also would love to see him against Gane.

Overeem finished him in the first round. The blueprint to beat him is there, people just stand and bang with him for some reason.

Pavlovich is turning into our generation’s Fedor… knocking out big time stars and has a very humble and reserved demeanor. He needs to be tested on the ground but the striking and composure is a very Russian style that is basic but super scary at the same time.

Sergeiv stiff plodder with no footspeed. Good punch selection and power but thats not enough to ko iron jaw ngannou. It took him like 50 flush punches to ko blaydes
The video of him playing slots before the fight was hilarious. Dude feels no pressure.
Those uppercuts kept Blaydes from even trying takedowns.😅
Exactly! People talk about: GO FOR THE TAKEDOWN! That’s easier than done especially against that Russian White’ Power
Yea, people aren't listening to what Pavlovich said he was going to do. He said he would aim for Blaydes' chest, and that would deter the takedown because Blaydes isn't going to want to put his head down after he feels it.
Wrestlers just are obliterated by a good striker , this was basically like Russia vS NATO USA
He’s also just not explosive now, he was never super explosive but I don’t think he trusted himself to take the shot and not take a cinderblock of a knee or uppercut. I doubt he sticks around to fight him but Jones is a great matchup because he will get his takedown and Pav seems like he has the clear strength advantage

Pavlovic's uppercut reminds me of a slider in baseball. The pitcher has the same delivery, but one pitch goes straight (fastball) and the other drops away (slider). The batter can't be sure which is coming, and by the time he gets a read, it's too late. In this case, Blaydes was caught standing there watching, trying to read the punch. This is subtle, high-level striking. Really impressive for such a big man.
Simular to Khabib's uppercut. I guess it's a Russian/European style. Very affective

The problem is Jon will probably spam takedowns early unlike Curtis. And what happens if John does take him down? Does he have a plan to get up or hold guard? We haven’t seen a lot of MMA ground work from Sergei. Wrestlers are notoriously bad off their back
Greco doesn’t translate well to MMA, but it also doesn’t mean Sergei has not been training his ass off
@@VisceralCarbon I hope so, I really enjoy his fights. But yeah, Greco Roman has a harder time dealing with single/double legs. Not something allowed in competition. Jones is a collegiate wrestler, they specialize in those.

He's earned his shot. If I were Cyril's coach I'd probably want him to fight Volkov and then Curtis since he's obviously a very hittable wrestler and give Cyril the chance to get his skills and confidence up with wins over more complete fighters instead of fat brawlers. Jesus he is such a high level boxer
Nah, his skill is just ok, but he has great physical power, which makes any shot he lands be more effective than it would be for anyone else, and a great chin, which makes any shots his opponents keep landing on him less effective than they would normally be. He's like ngannou was before his miocic rematch: unskilled but physically very prominent.

@jay f Basic but effective.
@jay f so what if it's a basic counter in MMA your argument has nothing to do with anything prior to him fighting the black beast who trained specifically for when fighting Blades most folks prepped only to stop the takedown not to use Blade's momentum against her when he changed levels regardless if it was for a takedown or a fake and if it was so common how come nobody else was training for that until other individuals started to realize the change in the armor regardless basic or not folks are starting to play chess instead of checkers when it comes to fighting Blades that's the point I'm making
