For anyone curious, with the MSI GE67 with 12800HX, I got a best of 8700 in CBR20. It only has 4 extra threads compared to this and was able to run over 4ghz on the P cores which is pretty sick for a 15" laptop. Sadly I returned it due to touchpad issues as well as a really bad bug that screws up the graphics in optimus mode (everyone has it, no fix yet but it drove me insane in a day, that was all it took). in dGPU mode though, the OLED screen was just stunning. This Acer is a good laptop but it's just too loud for me sadly, I have a limit. Sticking to my 2021 Legion 7i for now then with 11800H and 3070.

watching this on my helios 300 right now. i have the same specs as you however i have the version with the big predator symbol on the back. I have really enjoyed my helios, the only issue ive had is dealing with windows 11 as i havent dealt with the OS until now. a lot of reviewers complain about the fan noise when its on turbo, but i personally dont mind it. you even mentioned thats its annoying even with headphones on. with my HyperX headphones i havent really been hearing any noise from the fans when playing my games. which, the only time i do turn on turbo mode is when im playing AAA games like Call of Duty so with the loud gameplay you wont be able to hear anything outside of your headphones, not even the fans. but if you are just a casual gamer and play things like the sims or rimworld or stardew valley or even minecraft (without shaders) you wont have to worry about using the turbo mode. So dont let the fan noise discourage you from buying this laptop. I also want to thank you about telling me about the MUX switch! i didnt know what that was until i watched this!

The predator helios series laptops are built like tanks after the 2018 models. I have a 2019 17" model with RTX 2060 graphics. It has been going through pretty intense workload everyday since I have bought it, given I am a VR game developer. This machine has never made me worried about anything. I am happy finding a company whose performance laptops I can trust on.

Yes while the Helios 2019 and newer models are indeed built better, however the 2018 is not bad either. I am still rocking one since 2018 with Core i7 8750H, GTX 1060 6GB, 32GB RAM. After undervolting and repasting, it was one of the fastest 8750H + 1060 combo of that time, leaving behind every other similarly specd laptops in the dust. Acer rocks!!
I had the Helios 300 from about 3 years ago and you could probably bake eggs on it while gaming. Even with an undervolt. Glad to see they fixed the temp issues.
i have 15inch 2019 Version, use to reply this comment and it's working just find for 4 Year, but the fan sound kinda abit loud. i plan on go to Nitro 17 2023 RTX4050 in next month.

Nice one. Talking from experience, I'm an Architect I use Helios 300 for 3ds Max Vray GPU Rendering...I can tell you, the Helios 300 is a beast. The Rendering speed is extremely fast. It Renders scenes with more than 100+ polygons in just lest than 2 minutes when using the Vray GPU RTX Option. It worth the price...
More than a 100+ million polygons in less than 2 minutes, under default mode.

All Acer predator laptops run quite loud in turbo mode but are still acceptable within noise range. Most importantly, cooling efficiency is outstanding and then machines are able to avoid overheating in the long term.

The laptop market is going good! The Razer Blade, Acer Helios, MSI GF Thin Lineups are really bad before, but now, it's easy to recommend.
the gf line up might be so-so, yeah it has a higher tier gpu at a lower price, but it's one of the lowest wattage available. iirc the gf66 3070 is only at 85w.

Just got this laptop around Black Friday for 1000$ with an (Intel I7, RTX 3060, 16GB DDR5, 512 GB SSD, 165HZ Screen) and I have Upgraded another SSD For 2TB SamSung Evo 970 and this whole build is a beast for gaming
When the fans start rattling and you clean them and they start rattling again and you get stuck in the loop,flip the laptop upside down when you turn it off and let it sit overnight,the fans slide down their post and rattle on the fan cage,I started doing this 3 months ago and it works,hasn't rattled since.

That was thr part I've been waiting for: The MUX switch, because Acer Gaming Laptops were left behind by other competitors with MUX switch. The design is great and it can ready stand out but the previous models doesn't have a MUX switch plus the TDP is low. Still, the remaining cons thay was still here for the unit was the fan noise.

No sd card slots. Only 3 USB ports all on the sides. Runs a bit hot if GPU enabled. 3070ti version. Needs a desk. Not a lap laptop. Loaded out w trial Norton ultra and office 365 plus some other bloatware. I like it so far. Don't think it's a good mining target due to the heating. Fans really are loud and they need to be on if GPU is active. Have not noticed a battery drain in turbo mode. It's fast. Wifi has been great. HDMI to external monitor looks to be limited to 144hz. Haven't tried dp to do yet.
I bought this laptop for $999 Black Friday deal and I am so happy I got it. I play CSGO with my friends and Age of Empires by myself and have been enjoying. Going to buy more games later but so far so good. 👍

i have the $2099 version with the 3070 ti, absolute beast gaming in QHD. fan noise is loud but with my cooling pad it keeps my laptop under 75c.

Do you find any clicky sound touching the trackpad???? I find some clicky sound when i just touch the trackpad! I thought it was maybe because the trackpad is loose or something or not fixed the trackpad well, but whem i asked them, he said the 2022 models comes with air inlet keyboard and trackpad system. So all 2022 model get that sound when u touch the trackpad!!! DO YOU GET ANY SUCH SOUND???

The performance has improved a lot in one year. The GPU here is actually 150w, comparable and even better that the legion 5i pro in terms of performance. Design and overall aesthetic in terms of thermal performance enhancement has seen a lot of improvement as well. I love how some PPL just wanna hate on a device just coz it hasn't had the greatest of representations in the last couple of years.

I bought this laptop on sale for 1800$ from Best Buy. I was looking to replace an old HP model. Did tons of research but for the specs and my needs (gaming only and pretty much in house not caring it around etc) I set a 2K budget. This was at the top of my list. So far I’m loving it…I use an external cooling pad and yeah it gets a bit warm from time to time turbo mode helps a lot, yeah it’s loud but with headphones on it’s alright. I rather my laptop be cool than cooking (like my old one). I don’t know if it will hold up but it seems solidly built. Honestly does everything I expected and more.

@@J0searreaza no, I had two MSI models, Alienware, Lenovo and Asus. I don’t remember the exact models on each but for the specs and money this was the best all around option. I also avoided HP like the plague…have owned 3 different HP laptops between the wife and me last 9 years all had similar issues…

Just bought this laptop on sale at Best buy. It was the only one in store and I am so glad I got it. I am coming from a 2019 Strix gl703 and this is a night and day difference. The trackpad is actually amazing for a windows laptop. The heat really isn't all that bad, I haven't resorted to using the turbo mode once. It gets 60 fps in Star Citizen which is actually nuts... But its mainly a work laptop for my business. Have to justify it that way to the IRS anyway... I'd buy it again tomorrow.
I'm seriously considering buying one. The 3070ti version is on sale for $1800 at Best Buy. I'm so torn. I've been considering getting one of the Eluktronics 3070ti laptops that comes with the water cooling system, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $400 as it's on sale for $2200. Lenovo has their 3070ti 5i Pro on sale for $1800 too. So damn hard to decide on a laptop these days.
you can reduce the cpu heat output a little bit by undervolting it
@@kiyoponnn Not if it's got a i7-12700H. The 12700H is locked. The only 12th gen intel chip that can be undervolted is the i9-12900hk.

As much as I love to see this as a Helios owner myself, throw some more shade on the cooling of the laptop. Helios has, since the 20 series GPU, suffered with temps a lot!

Can anybody help me? Just bought this laptop and the problem appears right away the battery on full 100% stops charging while pluged and starts when its almost drained. Is it laptop problem or its set by system to save battery life?
Having te ethernet port on the side instead of the back is silly, that is the second biggest, most annoying stiff cables after the power supply. There is ample room at the back by looking how spread out those ports are. They could have fit an extra USB type C port at the side instead.

The competition is so much stronger and better. I own a Helios 300 but I would consider to buy Asus or MSI gaming Notebook.

I have the Helios 2021 edition, i7 11800H, RTX 3060, QHD 165Hz display. Really happy with the display and performance. The only downside is the battery backup. I wished it had the 90WHr battery 😢 which this gen has.

Good morning, I have an Acer Helios 300 with similar specifications as shown in the video. I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM to 64Gb using Crucial DDR5-4800 RAM. According to my research, Crucial sells an individual 32Gb stick (Crucial 32GB DDR5-4800 SODIMM (ref: CT32G48C40S5)) and also sells a 64Gb kit (Crucial 64GB Kit (2 x 32GB) DDR5-4800 SODIMM (ref: CT2K32G48C40S5). My question is if there is any performance/compatibility difference in using the 64Gb kit, compared to using two 32Gb sticks purchased separately? I'm asking this question because in my country I can get a better price buying two separate 32Gb sticks (ref: CT32G48C40S5) still getting the 64Gb, than buying the 64Gb kit (ref:CT2K32G48C40S5). The 64Gb kit is €30 more expensive than buy 2 sticks of 32Gb separately. I hope you can clarify the issue for me. Thanks
i have a Helios 300 w/c i got earlier this year that has an i5-10300H CPU paired with an RTX 3070 laptop GPU with a 1080P 144hz display with a free an acer gaming chair, keyboard, mouse combo. all for 1100 USD here in the Philippines -- inflation prices considered. so far it's quite fast and good with games. i've recently upgraded its SSD by adding another nvme ssd and bumping up the RAM to 64gb.

Helloo, I bought this laptop with 3070, three days ago and i found that there’s a gap between the screen and the bezel on the left side of the laptop when we see the qhd stickering! Is that a problem? When i asked for the replacement at the store he was like they dont replace for adhesive problem!!!! How should i do? Do i keep it? Or ask for replacement?
