@@Itosalix Not golf apparently God prefers skeeball
@@Itosalix did you know that “bless you” started from the belief that sneezing was your soul trying to escape your body and someone saying bless you caused it to go back in. The irony is that Mooby is clearly a stand in for Disney, which owned Miramax at the time this movie was made.
Except Miramax dropped this film due to its religious tones, leading Kevin Smith to take it to Lionsgate, which was an unknown indie studio at the time. Miramax still owns its copyright.
The real irony is the implied sexual crime here given Miramax's association with one H. Weinstein

The specific term in this situation is 'anti-hero' but in this movie they were villains. They tried to end the world.

Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious, but I love how Bartleby first recites the sins for which they were to be punished, and the Loki executes the punishment, since in an earlier scene the movie had established that that was what their roles had been in ancient times as well when they were inflicting divine retribution on Egypt and before that on Sodom.
In the movie business, we call that "continuity."

About that: in all semi-seriousness, it was inappropriate for Loki to pull a gun on her, but she was *working for* a company that did all these things. She probably didn't know every dirty detail, but when you work for people that sleazy for several years, you begin to pick up on some of it. Still she stayed. But then again: she may have had very little choice in the matter. So it's #complicated.
4:12 I always loved the implication that there was no research involved for this moment. They can read a persons sins just by looking at them and when Bartleby didn’t immediately see a sin to talk about he had to do a double take to make sure and was even surprised by it.
They are watchers after all.

Other than that nonsense, this is an amazing scene. It uses these two unhinged characters to perfectly personify the problem with organized religion by having Loki state that decency comes from fear; it doesn’t. Have there been any mass killings that don't count as massacres, unless they have been judged by a court? None come to mind. A massacre is a massacre rather than just a mass execution when there is no proper right to a fair trial, which these two didn't give them.
