  • What a scene. You don’t need context at all. Even if you’ve never seen the movie, this scene stands on its own.

No idea why we keep saying it based on the origin. Seems really strange to me. I say gesundheit sometimes but that’s about it.

From all the stories I read, Salma states that he made repeated sexual advances and overtures to her during the making of Frida, which she refused each time. Nothing I found regarding their interactions during the filming of Dogma. So there was no sexual contact between the two, at any time, ever. Now I'm certainly not defending that complete creep, but please make sure you're stating facts when making an accusation. Perhaps you're thinking of another accuser?

She probably didn't know every dirty detail, but when you work for people that sleazy for several years, you begin to pick up on some of it. Still she stayed. But then again: she may have had very little choice in the matter. So it's #complicated.

Other than that nonsense, this is an amazing scene. It uses these two unhinged characters to perfectly personify the problem with organized religion by having Loki state that decency comes from fear; it doesn’t. Decency comes from empathy and love, but mainstream religions often choose to capitalize on people’s fear, instead of validating and encouraging their empathy. Great script.
