I think the best way to bring it back is just to revert the change that killed it. Make the clones split to the right instead of behind. With all the spells going around, it's never going to be overpowered with a buff like this. It might, however, become somewhat valid. The big problem is that it has very poor parity with almost every card in the game. Even in decks like giant skelly clone it takes up a whole card slot which would better be used for a defensive card or a support card which is valid on defense. It makes your cycle awkward because you almost never play it.

Considering what type of spells are running around, giving Clone its original properties won't make it overpowered. Sure it would still be ass, but it's a nice quality of life and a nice treat to the small pocket of clone users.

Incorrect. I have been running a Giant Skeleton and Skeleton barrel clone deck for years now and the change that made clone go behind and not to the side actually is better for 1 good reason. Giant Skeleton Clone Pushing. (And skeleton barrel against cannoneer) Using the clone can push a Giant skeleton to the tower more often than you think. You can use it to push a GS that’s being blocked by a knight/valk/mini pekka/any minitank WITH THE CLONED GS! You can even do it against a in between the bridge and tower placed pekka if you have enough HP on him.

Idk what about 1-10% hp instead 1hp maybe they could even be healed. This would add some skill and make it possible to not accidentally counter (because chances are you are going to use a spell on a big push) while still leaving them vulnerable.

Buff the clone spell by making the clone always spawn by the side closest to the center and having slightly more distance between it and the original troop. Now it would also be an option to shift your troops away from any center field defense, letting them sometimes keep moving forward to the princess tower. Still not perfect but more useful than shifting troops slightly forward.

My idea for a buff is to turn the clone into a spirit like they did the heal spell. My reason being is that one of the reasons why the clone is so terrible is because it costs 3 elixir and since the units it spawns all die to one hit, that effectively makes it get countered by all other small spells in the game for an equal to positive elixir trade. By turning it into a spirit it would only cost 1 elixir while having the same potential use cases if used skillfully and would negate its main weakness to other small spells by simply not providing them with the same amount of value if used to counter it.

As a professional Giant Skeleton Clone player, yes I play that in 2024, I see only a few ways Clone can be buffed without it being a complete nightmare to everyone: Option 1: Giving it the evolution buff - It could be a 3 cycle but cloned troops have 25-30% of the original = This is to reward players for risking to playing the spell a lot and to bring out more value out of troops (HP slightly higher than Fireball's damage) being killed by Spirits/some spells (Arrows will still kill most of these cloned troops) Option 2: Reverting the Clone back to its original state - As the title says but make the cloned troop go towards the middle of the map (or vise versa) instead of strictly to the right = This is to make the spell consistent so attacking one lane doesn't have a disadvantage over the other Option 3: Small invincibility period while cloning - This is to give the cloned cards a chance to do something before they die. To balance the invincibility, enemy troops will constantly will behave as if its the end of the match until the invincibility period is over, and thus the battle continues Obviously this is my opinion so nothing here is perfect (I did do some maths with the percentages). Also I just absolutely love the Clone spell because I love the Giant Skeleton and I wish for it to become slightly more useful in the future

Imo, I recently heard CR being described as a rock paper scissors like matchup system. While I don’t think this is entirely true, the idea of removing cards might not actually be that absurd. Especially recently with evolutions, it really doesn’t depend on how good you are at the game, but how good your cards are, in levels, and in comparison to the matchup with your opponent. Not saying this would ever happen (because of Supercell) but it is an idea that might improve the current game.

Okay, as a clone shield deck player... No, the clone is actually quite fun to use but for an 3 elixir cost? That's a bit too much, plus there are some clone tricks that are also the best, if there's a fisherman and it going to hook your giant skeleton rushing the tower, use a clone spell to get unhooked and get push closer to the tower, or if they spawn a troop Infront of your GS, clone and it would push it closer to the tower and the clone unit will push him, and for the shield units, they can't get zapped or log cuz they have shield hp.... Tho really, i feel like the clone spell just needs an elixir cost reduction to 2, cuz it's not going to work for cycle decks, the same counters for swarms will still do the same to them, basically would be useable at 2 elixir cost... The both ideas you gave would be an actual nerf that would literally kill the card, cuz if it clone to the side, would be killed instantly with today's meta play and won't break defense by pushing them to range units, and 1 to 10% hp? Too op.. a elixir cost reduction would be much better to 2, and not a lot people would use it still cuz still a 2 elixir spells would get rid of them but now at least it's at equal elixir trade and it's not very risky and just risky, plus cycle decks won't use it due to bette 2 and 1 elixir cards available already... Tho would love to see clone barrel goblin deck again, that was fun seeing

As a clone + Giant Skelly user I can tell that it only works with Giant Skelly, and that is due to cloning of bomb. Its a very niche win condition, and works at 7k because most players dont have enough experience against this combo. I am still sad for the Giant Skelly bomb nerf btw

That's a bit too much, plus there are some clone tricks that are also the best, if there's a fisherman and it going to hook your giant skeleton rushing the tower, use a clone spell to get unhooked and get push closer to the tower, or if they spawn a troop Infront of your GS, clone and it would push it closer to the tower and the clone unit will push him, and for the shield units, they can't get zapped or log cuz they have shield hp.... Tho really, i feel like the clone spell just needs an elixir cost reduction to 2, cuz it's not going to work for cycle decks, the same counters for swarms will still do the same to them, basically would be useable at 2 elixir cost... The both ideas you gave would be an actual nerf that would literally kill the card, cuz if it clone to the side, would be killed instantly with today's meta play and won't break defense by pushing them to range units, and 1 to 10% hp? Too op.. a elixir cost reduction would be much better to 2, and not a lot people would use it still cuz still a 2 elixir spells would get rid of them but now at least it's at equal elixir trade and it's not very risky and just risky, plus cycle decks won't use it due to bette 2 and 1 elixir cards available already... Tho would love to see clone barrel goblin deck again, that was fun seeing

Its mostly because the clone ver only has 1 hp,so even arrows can take them out easily like golem
As a clone + Giant Skelly user I can tell that it only works with Giant Skelly, and that is due to cloning of bomb. Its a very niche win condition, and works at 7k because most players dont have enough experience against this combo. I am still sad for the Giant Skelly bomb nerf btw
