Can't wait to see what happens to the ol' spider munchin' gang this week!
Poor spider munchin' gang, they've got it real bad
I can only hope that someday they do a mystery quest intro but as an opener to the Bristol Pusher, and whoever his mysterious identity might be
Love Tom's enthusiasm in trying to convince the crew to use an Xray cause he readied something even if the science doesn't... really work
Lydia living her best life while Mark, Trott, and Lewis are watching their fall apart. Calling it now she's the sole survivor.
I hope Trott sacrifices someone while saying "I got a blank space, baby, and I'll write your name."
I love that Tom can't do a German accent without going incredibly camp
Saturday, 7 pm, a new episode. I hold this strict uploading schedule in high regard.
they're scheduled uploads prolly a week or two out for sure lmao. Love the schedule.
We've seen people die in CoC in older games but it's fun to see someone begin to go insane this time, plus they're doing a pretty good job at roleplaying it.
Yeah this for sure, feel like sanity has been really punishing this game with loads of sanity draining moments
@@cyriellyeah like to an unspeakable degree
I think Kirby lost 9 san when he saw the photo because he is a cinematographer, so he knows that the focal length on a polaroid means its impossible for it to be a small spider close to the lens, it would never be in focus!
I'm going down the road with headphones on, staring vacantly, Taylor Swift on full blast.
I rarely comment on youtube videos but I really had to for this playthrough. I've been getting into Call of Cthulhu and I have to say this is one of the most fun, scary and engaging videos I've seen. The dice culminating to make Lydia the final girl, all the excellent rp with the little cutaway flashbacks. This is an amazing few hours of rp and ttrpg content, well done to all taking part Bonus points for the editor, the little sound queues and music bits add SO much to the ambience
A dodgy realter sounds like the perfect sacrifice for a ghoul ritual....
I just wanted to say that it was a genius idea to start each episode with that little “Mystery Quest” bit because I forgot the name of the channel today and only remembered it because I replayed an intro in my head
These videos have got me into call of cthulhu. Bought the starter set and some dice. Hosting my first game as a Keeper next week, using the Lightness Beacon as a scenario. Thanks so much Tom for introducing this to me and my friends.
Doing the same thing, I've started the edge of darkness scenario
Good luck to both of you hopefully you and your friends will enjoy it ^^
I wish I had friends that were into this stuff lol.
I’m currently reading through the Starter Set, love the solo play tutorial. It’s a very well done!
Same here, I already bought the core rulebook or whatever it's called in English but didn't really think about running a game in the near future until I started watching this videos. Actually ran my first CoC game yesterday:)))
oh speaking of lighter stuff, that borrowers intro was absolutely fabulous!! super sweet.
This round of MQ has been a bit too bleak, maybe, so thanks for reminding me to replay the intro :)
I think Trott is going to burst into spiders.
Thanks Tom. Thanks Spiders. Another all body shudder. Ick.
God, the Bavarian polka gets me every time
I'll admit I was a bit slow to like this series as the flashback angle didn't really pull me in but this episode was so fantastic. So very horrifying and despite finally failing a roll or two big lyds is still mostly unphased and on her way to tiktok stardom while trott and lewlew lose their minds and Hulmes is 90% spider. Can't wait for the next (final?) episode!
I like to imagine that all of Tom’s german characters are all actually the same character, like a mysterious immortal Bavarian which is why he’s always near spooky happenings but is totally unfazed.
I was half expecting Tom to offer trott some sanity back for listening to Taylor Swift. I was 1/4 expecting him to lose sanity from listening to Taylor Swift.
OHHH the Bavarian gangsta rap christmas trap! Shit's so good xDD
I am absolutely LOVING this series! It’s so legitimately unsettling, and they’re all playing it so well. Thank you so much, Tom, for all of the wonderful series on Mystery Quest so far! This is my favorite thing on this platform and I can’t wait for each new episode! 👑✨
I don't think that I have ever clicked on a video with zero views because I got lucky and just clicked home exactly the right time. This is cool as hell.
I really want Ivan to be reappearing character in Call of Clarkehulu mythos lol. Maybe make him into like the Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines taxi driver that is rumored to be Cain :D I am not saying to make him into Nyarlathotep but maybe like his unknown shapeshifter brother that just wants to chill near people lol.
He's obviously the ancestor of Hans from one of the previous CoC games.
Make it like starcraft duran, narud etc, just a recurring character with a different name with the same letters 👀 but he should have the same vibe tho so its a clue
@@doublepegleg9755 descendant but yeah :D
Potato, potahto!@@VanBourner
This series has been just so amazing. It strikes the perfect balance between completely freaky and immersive with the comedy balance from the players. I'm basically waiting for Saturday every week at this point!
I'm always a sucker for early 1900's horror, but this has been the best series yet! Absolutely loving this. MASSIVE shoutout to everyone involved!!
Hypothetically if someone wanted to find more bavarian gangster trap music.... where would I find it
Every Saturday is both the best and worst day, its the best because a new episode, its the worst that i have to wait another week before the next one P.s maybe a system should be in place where everyone rolls a d100 for battery life on their phones? And every round roll a d10/d6 on battery drain if the phone is used (from flashlight to googling adresses etc) forcing the group to either go into the scenario less informed but less spookyness down the line or more informed/using less time in the scenario to find things out at the cost of having no battery left creating more of a isolated/spooky feeling (for example being forced to use shitty flashlights instead of a proper phone flashlight) just something i came up with in the span of like 5 min
I'll be honest, when this series started with the first episode I thought to my self "I miss Magie and Perry, I am not quite sure about this" but episode 3 sold me on the series and this episode is an absolute gem.
"Magazine gun" 🤣🤣🤣 Y'know, a 32. is likely a revolver.
Me screaming at my laptop: WHY DIDN'T YOU ALL GET X-RAYED JUST IN CASE? GET THE ULTRASOUND. PLEASE. I"M BEGGING YOU
Every new year, while every channel does a ‘yearly review’ video, Mystery Quest should do an intro scenario compilation
Tom's intro made me think a good MQ would be "The Rats in the Walls" from the rats' perspective. The humans are so preoccupied with their stuff that they actually pay the rats little mind, but what they do to each other is monstrous enough that the rat players would have good reason to fear them. IDK, maybe it wouldn't quite work since playing animals feels silly and would spoil the real story... 🤔
Tom previously hosted a game where the players were a bunch of woodland critters avenging santa, you can find it on his channel. Sure it was a bit silly, but the gang really seemed to get into it from what I remember, so I'm pretty sure what you suggested is doable anyhow. If anyone could pull it off, Tom could
@@Cyndayn The Witch is Dead by gshowitt. That was a great one! But yeah, very different vibe.
My guess: they bargained for their lives with big spider; that in order to live they had to lure others to the basement to become spider’d Probably arguing that their show meant more people would see Amazing series loving it so much!!
Watching this episode with a stomachache really is something else
I can’t wait to be #spookedup by dungeon daddy!
i dont know why, but when you end your intro saying "..... Mystery quest" the little tune that comes after, my head is going left to right and i have crab claw hands. thought you should know.
Thank you for your input zoidberg
A blessing from Tzeentch
Dang...why did it have to be spiders? As I'm about to take a soak in the bath tub and listen to my favorite, spooky RPG cast what do I spot lurking from behind the tap? A GIANT BLOODY SPIDER!!! ...okay...it was a daddy longlegs but still....
He's not spider man, he's spiders man.
Man this really earned the content warning back at the start. Its making even my seasoned stomach turn and i am absolutely here for it
It's Tom's Funhouse of Sanity Checks again! ♥
Oh noooooooo what has happened to the poor donut cops..... So sad after all those hard rolls to get them on side!! Completely predictable but super sad. Absolutely LOVE where this is going. Strong contender for my favourite Mystery Quest yet!!! Love Trott going mad, love the potential for a Ghoul being called, love finding out about the spiders beneath the house, love the German cultist angle.... cannot wait to see it all play out.
Call of Cthulhu is always so amazing, I got some real jitters from the whole spider cave. Can't believe they managed to convince the cops, I just hope they can burn the place down before it spreads if the cops don't escape and seal the door.
This one is quickly turning into my favorite Mystery Quest. A proper spooky one is real nice. Great job!
Super tommmmmm Wow trott is magic now 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Tom, you game mastering CoC on the games night channel way back was what inspired me to buy the keeper’s rulebook and run games for my friends. You are the kind of GM I strive to be like and I love to watch you work!
I'm rooting for you all to live! Low hopes for Kirby/Trott though. I love how everyone is playing their characters! ❤
Excellent work from Tom, Lydia, Mark, and the editing staff from about 6:30 for at least a few minutes. Legitimately the most I've been spooked listening to an RPG for a good few years.
big lids best character, but lewis seems super out of his comfort zone but is still trying his best and doing a fantastic job
This adventure is like a really good indie horror comedy film and I'm loving it.
Wow the whole crew is really bringing their A game for this, lewis especially! I'm loving it.
I think having a Mark Hulmes is very helpful in support of Tom's laissez-faire DM style. I'm sure it's a balance for all DM's but some players in other series get out of hand and we lose the story for extended periods. Not so here and it pays off.
50:17 Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world!
This, with this level of sound editing and effects, would unironically be a goated podcast Would bet it would be able to get a much greater reach and a much greater audience than its getting only existing on this youtube channel I obviously dont know the level of prep work going into this for Tom, but I think a recurring campaign with a set of participants, even only for say 20 episodes or something over a few months, with oneshots like these sprinkled in intermittently, could genuinely go really far in the pen n paper podcasting space, thats currently lacking in good quality that isnt just boring old DnD again
It's an odd feeling. I want there to be more but I also really want to hear how this ends. Absolutely loving this.
39:55 always record the cops
Mystery Quest has now officially become my most favorite Call of Cthulhu channel. The blend between horror and humor really keeps it fresh and exciting. Love you guys!
I absolutely ADORE that intro to mystery quest that was wholesome as hek
I sat down to watch and time honestly just becomes irrelevant. I was totally enrapt; this episode has been best of the four by far. I'm really in love with the Cthulu mythos after this series more than any other. Thanks, guys!
THIS SERIES IS SOOO EXCITINGGGGG man I cant believe we have to wait another week to find out what happens there is so much going on Thank you again to spooky daddy Tom and the amazing cast!!!
I really feel for poor ol Robin
I started losing it when i heard the distant meow and tom saying “RUN!”
Trott is scarily into being crazy
Wow. I don't think i've ever had any ttrpg experience that gave me such an unnerved feeling. Great job tom!
Appreciate all the work going into this channel. Thank you.
Hate having to wait a week! Love the series so much
ayyyy this series has been so good so far!!!!!
I am loving these! More Please! Thank You!
Another incredible episode. Boy that one was heart pounding!
Thanks guys you're doing a fantastic job of entertaining us. Love all of the Call of Cthulhu series you've done so far.
These was a great episode!
I absolutely love these! Can’t wait to see some of the behind the scenes and post game chat too :D
Really enjoying this one. Cant wait for the next ep
Another amazing episode with a stellar opening - much love to the team!
I love watching these because I'm a big baby and could never play horror TTRPGs myself.
Amazing episode, everyone is getting into it extremely well
"Whereas we haven't eaten any spiders" it's insane that a situation arose where this needed to be said 😂
The highlight of my week, every week. Thank you, folks, for the great content!
This is so god damn good. Honestly what a series so far
This has been so good, all the characters fit so well and the flavor added by adding details about the environment and character's actions is all SO GOOD. Loving it to bits. Hope the crew can end this well!
Love this, love the spookiness. My favourite show! I wish there was more!
I'm loving this series, definitely feels like the spookiest one so far.
I got the starter set thanks to these videos and some of your past rpg campaigns! Excited to inflict some of these scenarios on my players. I've already run Paperchase as an intro which was great.
I live for the intro bits. Every single one is better than the last.
I'm really loving the spooky level for this series, I'd love to see other Call of Cthulhu at the same spooky level!
Mystery quest is so good thanks a ton ❤
Really enjoy the Cthulhu setting. Keep up the great work.
Great fun, this one took a bit of time for me to get into but loving it. Can't wait to see what happens next, keep changing these up guys!
This is such an interesting adventure! I can’t wait to see how it all pans out!
I love this channel, deserves sm more love!
Absolutely amazing, thanks so much... Best TTRPG content on the internet.
These roleplaying games are such fun I watch and listen to you guys on every platform every week it’s such great content keep it up
This has been such a great tale. And you guys are really bringing it to life. Thanks mystery quest. I m need to tell you all. I love this story
Loving everything about this campaign. Super happy to see mark on here too, he's such a good player and its nice seeing him on the other end of the table
Absolutely incredible stuff
Trudging home after a long day, ngl I would LOVE a pillow mountain rn, giant killler kitten or no. *This is a comment, for the Angorythm*
Ahhh this is so good! Love the imagery of this as a film and the camera zooming in on Trott's character as he loses his mind and the background noise fades out... cue "Shake it Off"
By far the best rpg channel out there, such high quality production with the sound and introductions!!!! I never get memberships but every single video makes me so glad I did!!!!!
I feel like Lydia's character should just live stream everyone's death in the house . Then just run and become famous with her own show.
