  • For my 8 months old male black labrador (show line, but a little field in it) doesnt work this when he sees people, a cat, any other dog. Or a leaf flying in the wind...

    • This is similar to my question as well. Your method looks great if I was in an empty field with no distractions, but my 100+# bully breed pup (14 months old) does well when we’re alone, but I live in a residential area with neighbors and other walkers. How do I stop her pulling on her lead when she’s losing her mind because she wants to meet/greet another dog or human friend?

    • Great questions, theres no quick fix I’ll be honest guys. Consistency is so key. If your dog is struggling in those environments you have to take a step back and master your lead walking in a lower distraction environment. Once you have then you can slowly level up the distractions. Do you guys use a slip lead? Also how does your dog respond to your corrections?

  • My wife won’t let me use a slip lead on our lab. We have a flat collar. Will the corrective gentle pop work with that?

    • It will work but be aware it may not be as effective. Also as you pop the flat collar alot of pressure is applied to the front of the dogs throat. Whereas the slip lead the pressure is distributed around the neck.

  • Nice instructional vid congrats. However this doesn’t work for my three month old WCS. She doesn’t want to go on walks and digs in. If I do get away from home she pulls like crazy to get back. I have tried driving away to a neutral place but the car then becomes the way home so again she pulls like crazy. Do you think it’s an age thing and something that with constant work she will grow out of?

    • Thanks mate! Don't stress - it's not unusual for puppies to resist going on walks! They go through a fear stage at this stage. Try and lure her with treats out the front door or even in the garden. Lots of encouragement and be fun. Spend as much time as possible outside, socialising her to as much as you can. Even if it is just popping her on a long line and letting her explore in her own time. Really important to try not to reward her for being scared as this will reinforce the anxiety & will only get worse. Most dogs get more enthusiastic about walks as they get older. Hope that helps, if you need further advice we can arrange a call.

  • I have a female Australian Cattle dog. She is perfect when we do all that in the driveway, or backyard, but once we step on the road to go for an actual walk it seems to fly out her brain. I've been trying every method on earth, she's 2.5 years old now, perfect in so many ways but just always at the end of the leash when walking. She does not care about the pops of the slip leash. Nothing works with her.

  • Why don’t you try this with a leash reactive dog and not the trained one in the video?

    @jongray4828@jongray48282 ай бұрын
    • This dog was a really bad puller, no engagement whatsoever. It does make it easier that he is a Labrador and only young, but the same techniques apply to any dog that is leash reactive. Hope this helps👌🐾
