These DISHONORED Achievements ARE INTENSE - The Achievement Grind

As a person who has never been a fan of Dishonored, I wanted to set myself a challenge. Try the game again, and in doing so grind every single achievement the game has to offer! All 50 out of 50! I've always want to like Dishonored but when I played it as a teenager, it just didn't do anything for me, but 10 years later would I come to love this game or would I hate it even more by grinding every achievement it has? Well that's what we're having a look at today!

    • I loved that too. The only problem I had with that is that, once you tried a few things, you can really bypass almost everything :D That takes a bit away from the thrill of having to get around a difficult situation with guards and stuff because there is always this easy way. But then you still have to go to those places you could skip anyways just to loot everything... I went on set myself some different boundaries and challenges on every of my 10 Playthroughs.

    • @@cookie_space Both Dishonored games are super duper easy, but that's part of the charm for me. An immersive sim that's also an over-the-top power fantasy is a unique beast. I remember dev interviews at the time talking about how Blink ledgegrabbing was completely unintended at first, and they just decided to let the player keep that crazy level of mobility when they saw how much fun it was.

  • Lady Boyle's last party is honestly my favorite mission. It's just so fun! Just to add an interesting (in my opinion) bit of lore, in a Dishonored novel called Corroded Man, it is said/implied that the Boyle that was captured (in the novel's case, Waverly) actually went on to do well for herself once Brisby went mysteriously missing.

    • I was trying to play without powers in my first run, because I found them to be quite overpowered, but then I quickly realized (around the first target mission) that if you do that, you spend 10x longer on missions... sitting around waiting for random pathing and knocking everyone out. Lady Boyle's mission was my favourite in terms of gameplay, having to do all that detective work to figure out your target, but the one thing that made me really fall in love with this game was all the little details the devs added, like when you get to the tower your equipment is at, you can find Campbell, but this time as a weeper, right beside your lost equipment, just wandering around that tiny little place.

  • I did a Shadow/Clean Hands/No Upgrades/No Magic (except Blink) run on my very first playthrough of Dishonored, the DLC, Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider. It's actually relatively simple for the most part, although I should say I'm a fairly methodical and patient gamer in general, so that probably helps. You just have to be a little careful with the bodies of knocked out enemies, but since I already had that habit from various other games, it wasn't really an issue for me. I don't really do for the achievements or anything, I just find this the most fun way to play these games. Completing your objectives knowing you made no casualties and without anyone even knowing you were even there is just so cool.

And of course because you really alter the time line with your play style and options you choose. One of my proudest and most satisfying experience in gaming. I still bring up Dishonored as my favorite game to this day even if I learnt to prefer other games since, I just can't forget how good it was and how it changed my vision of what a masterpiece is.

  • Lol, your lock combo trick just surfaced an old memory for me. I forgot the combo to my bike lock when I was like 7, and decided I'd just have to do the same trick you did for half the safes in the game. When I hit the 2000's I started worrying that I'd already passed it, but decided it was more worth it to keep going than to start over. Well, cut to three days later, a full rotation of 9,999 possible combinations... The combo was 0125. I still remember it to this day. Three nights of terror that I'd stopped one digit short of the right combo, and that someone was at the lock right now getting a free bike for one second of effort. I made sure to never forget a combo again.

  • I could talk hours about the game, but to sum it up, literally the only thing I ever, *ever* hated about it was the fact the sequel was a letdown. Other than that, thouse hundreds if not over a thousand of hours I've put into the game in a decade on a variety of platforms was well deserved. Not to mention the recent rise in popularity for the game. As for the achievements, the only ones I ever had trouble with getting were the Dunwall City Trials ones.

  • Dishonored is one of my favorite games, when I played it for the first time I just did for the gameplay because I didn't understand English at that time. When I returned to it years later I fell in love with it. The story, the amount of details and secrets this game has, it's such a great experience. Dishonored was my first platinum and I fought it was easy because I've played it a lot already. When I finally got to play the DLC and Dishonored 2 I was shocked that that are the perfect evolution of the first game. I'm now playing Deathloop and I can see even more evolution from the previous games, anyway I just love Dishonored.

I played Thief, splintercell, tenchu, and a host of other stealth titles and love them, I came to Dishonored for the same stealth experience and adored the first play through with low chaos but finding out that there was another ending, made the replay in high chaos SOOOOOO fun. It satisfied BOTH audiences at the same time. thats almost impossible but they pulled it off.

  • I was exactly the same with my opinions on Dishonored. When I played originally I didn't like it much, but now I'm going for the achievements I'm finding it to be a breath of fresh air. Mostly because they give you a task and let you figure it out on your own, most games can't stand giving the player that level of freedom now. And the levels are so well designed that no matter where you go, you will find something useful or end up where you need to be eventually, all roads lead to Rome. I did the same with the cheevos too, did the stealth run first and now I'm going through an aggression run and it feels like a totally different game.

I've played through it many times, but with the power of save scumming, (and a mod that lets me know when I've killed or been spotted) I've gone through the whole game including the DLCs on the hardest difficulty on both high and low chaos. I found it pretty easy, but that might be because I'm more familiar with the game from playing it like, since it came out, lol. One thing I gotta say is that the Brigmore Witches, for a coven dedicated to taking over the Isle of Gristol through witchcraft... they have some really cute hats! :D

  • Nice job! I actually got surprisingly close to clean hands on my first playthrough! I wasn't going for an achievement, but my headcanon was that Corvo would have wanted the future empress to judge the crimes committed in her empire after she came back to power. It was also actually easier for me with the slower pace of the stealth approach since I'm not very good at gaming with a controller, which I did for this game. I did kill some though: - A couple guards in the sort of tutorial mission, escaping the prison. I didn't really understand the game nor know they would be counted, and I'm not big on repeating missions. - I think one weeper in the tunnels under the Hound Pits. I didn't really understand what they were, same as above. - Killed the imperial torturer, because that guy was just unhinged. Figured the future empress didn't need to know about this one, and perhaps she would forgive it if she found out. - Killed the guy Pendleton sends you to duel without your consent. I just wanted to see where that thread takes the game, and didn't want to think about how to do that nonlethally. It was kind of Pendleton's crime anyways. - And I killed Granny Rags. I was panicing out of terror and just wanted to get the heck out of there :D - Also, one guard I knocked out turned out to have died at the end of some mission. I guess I bumped his head into something when I tried to stash him in a corner or something, poor guy!
