  • You can definitely tell the haters on this thread don't know the sport is actually called "Artistic Gymnastics." This is the ncaa where the scores are focused on execution instead of difficulty. There's no way one could consistently land standing Arabians on beam or amanar vaults when the ncaa rules max your training hours at 20/week. This kind of gymnastics is about presentation and crowd participation in your floor routine (not just awkward clapping like in elite) and toe points/perfect handstands/stuck landings. Stop being lame and go find something more worthy of your negative energy🙄🤷🤦

    @theresultsphase@theresultsphase4 жыл бұрын
    • "Presentation gymnastics" is a better name for it, I think. Or even "entertainment gymnastics". Personally, college level gymnastics is not for me, as I am more interested in difficulty, as I find it to be much more representative of their athletic skill, but I can understand why people prefer this level for its sheer entertainment value alone. I personally feel as if focusing on entertainment is a way to gloss over the fact that these athletes cannot compete with elite standards- which they shouldn't have to, it's their own way of doing gymnastics! I'm just frustrated that people find college level gymnastics to be so much 'better' than Olympic level, because athletically, it's objectively not. After all, it's... college level sports. You can enjoy it, you can have fun, but of course the Olympians are going to be better, because they're literally elites.

    • @@tiffc00 college and elite are different things. Also, the majority of those competing in college are retired elites and level 10 gymnasts. So this idea that they can't do the harder moves just just absurd. Most elite gymnasts train 40+ hours/week and compete maybe 5-7 times/year. The college season requires them to be full-time students/compete almost every week from january-april. No human being could take the kind of pounding that elite skills would take on their bodies if they had to train that much and compete that much. i enjoy both elite and college gym because they are different. I mean, i literally won't watch a joyless elite floor routine unless simone biles is doing it🤷 but i also hate to see so many gainer fulls off beam in college. It a mixed bag either way but gymanstics is my jam

    • @@tiffc00 Well the reality is you are not going to be able to fill an entire college system coast to coast with athletes at the elite level so I appreciate the sport having a more artistic emphasis. College gymnastics is to elite what college football is to the NFL. It's just in gymnastics college isn't the feeder system into professional sports.

  • This was the most pressure anyone could be under in sports. National championships, senior year, deciding routine of the meet, last routine of her career... the list of things adding to the pressure goes on and on. She legitimately had zero room for error and did a turn literally everyone else in the world struggles with. You will not find anyone who does a double turn often who doesn't often have balance checks. In elite, there's always a maybe when it comes to mistakes because E scores aren't consistent. With Peng Peng, she couldn't do literally anything wrong. Obviously NCAA is more lenient, but you will not get a judge to give you a 10 on beam at nationals with a slight wobble or step. I still do not understand how the hell she was able to pull this off.

    • Exactly what I think too. It’s actually disappointing to watch that many routines that actually have one or more clear deductions get ten anyway. With the current level, THIS routine should be given more than 10. - 10,1-10.2 perhaps. - Not only are there nothing to deduct, but 1. she jumps higher than others in her backflip 2. and in her split jump 3 and her dismount lands so perfect so nobody is doubting that she’ll plant it.

So doubt a team of elites would all last a full season if they performed their elite routines without injuries or being sidelined.

    • @@snowfall221 name,image,and likeness wasn't allowed but I think this month it was allowed basically college athletes couldn't take any money or anything for free..so like if someone wanted to give you a free sandwich because you won the game winning point you weren't allowed to accept it but now you can.something with your name or image you can profit off of it
