I have a trick right thumb because of a kick that was blocked incorrectly.
@@vernonhampton5863 That sucks, man. My right wrist always clicks at a certain angle because my sensei many years ago applied too much pressure. Granted I should have tapped and acquiesced sooner.

@@vernonhampton5863 It's not a heavy clicking just a subtle one, and only when I twist it at a certain angle, so it's all good. I'm glad I never received worse injuries during my 10 years in Jujitsu.

If this is Thai boxing then why aren't they blocking the kicks the proper way? What they are doing is not a block. In a fight that is a point for the kicker if you block with the arm only.
@@petercarlson811 pretty sure pat says this drill is just a speed kicking drill, not a defensive and counter drill, the goal is working fast twitch fibers and muscle memory.
@@elguerolewis5610 The kicking yes. But the other person is actively blocking in an improper way. Why cement blocking in a way that gives the opponent points?

When i use to spar, i loved going low low high or high high low because the arm defense always staying up or down exposing one level.
Their chemistry is amazing
From personal experience I can say that after 5 minutes of doing that you'll feel like dying😂

The best thing I like about this video (not to take away from the lesson) is the student (shows an education in itself) knows "exactly how small of an area" they have to protect, engaging the proper technique with as little counter-force to the incoming blow to then lift off to deliver back. Maybe subconsciously, the student's shoulder blades and footing keep adjusting while the teacher talks (look at constant body positioning). Something critical (in the basics) is being taught here. Great material.

I think Pat was training in holland with ernesto hoost in the same gym i was.. this typical dutch kickboxing training... Power Gym i think .. was more like a fitness place with a dojo on the side... later they went first first floor.. dont know Pat was still training there then.. but it was awesome to see them train.. i think also with paul slowinsky.. his kicks were insane..

@@Elurin sorry man I didn’t mean for that to sound aggressive. I meant that in a fight situation you can hide your intentions with movement and feints so that the opponent doesn’t see it coming. Weilli clearly did not see the kick coming that knocked her out.
