Rick "The Jet" Roufus vs Rob Kaman 1st fight - 12-20-91 & 2nd fight - 2-05-94

This video has both fights between Rick "The Jet" Roufus and Rob Kaman. 1st fight - 12-20-91 & 2nd fight - 2-05-94.
In their first fight Roufus was initially declared the winner by decision but the match was later declared a no-contest after Kaman's corner protested that only 1 minute had been fought in the 4th Round - a round that could have been critical to Kaman as he had hurt his opponent. As a result he still retained his ISKA Full Contact Light Heavyweight World title (from wikipedia.org).

If you have this fight please email me @ Kickboxingvideos@gmail.com
If you have any of the classic Kickboxing fights from the 80's and 90's please email me @ Kickboxingvideos@gmail.com
I am a collector of Kickboxing videos, especially Jean-Yves Thériault's fights. Please email me (Kickboxingvideos@gmail.com) if you have kickboxing videos.

    • I was thinking exactly the same thing. Full contact rules were Roufus’s game. I think Kaman would have dominated under Thai rules. Meeting in the middle under something like K1 rules would have been great.

  • This was a spectacular combat sport: combining boxing-based punches, body movement and footwork with technically (and physically) demanding high kicks.The game of maneuvering those two distances and entrapping the opponent in a display of skill, technique and conditioning. And Rick knew to do this very well. (later he invested even more in boxing) His footwork, with angles and timing for them counter-punches off both hands (especially the left) and setups for power-kicks are a pleasure to watch. Not to detract from the great achievements of the maestro Rob Kaman - but my applause goes definitely to Rick. Too bad this sport is no longer available. It will always be my favorite. That, and savate.

  • Interesting that Kaman agreed to kickboxing rules (twice), taking away some of his best weapons. Rufus fought another Thai boxer (Changpuek) when he was younger with only low kicks allowed from the thai arsenal and he got his ass handed to him. He must have had that in mind when this fight was set up. I believe Kaman would have destroyed him with Thai rules or even just leg kicks allowed. But that's just one fan's opinion. I admire both of these fighters, two of the greatest ever in their respective disciplines.

By your logic, if a fighter is poorly versed in some technique, he is a bad fighter. Roufus/Panama... (valsspelers)

      @Lonnie_Johnson@Lonnie_Johnson4 жыл бұрын
    • @@Lonnie_Johnson Welke onzin heb je geschreven? Waarom moesten ze met een lage trap volgens de regels vechten als de titel voor Full Contact Wereldkampioen was? Bij volledig contact zijn lage trappen niet toegestaan. Je ziet nog steeds de boksvid, waarin je kickboksers zegt en, nou, als je schoppen toestaat, zou het een heel ander gevecht zijn. Het is verkeerd om de vraag zo te stellen. Als Rufus tegen die Thai had gevochten volgens de regels van volledig contact, kunnen we met vertrouwen zeggen dat Rufus zou hebben gewonnen door knock-out. Je zegt dat het niet eerlijk is om een vechter de technieken (low kicks) te onthouden die hij gewend is. En het is redelijk om uitrusting te gebruiken tegen een jager, van waaruit een andere jager geen verdediging trainde. Je bent niet eerlijk in je oordeel.
