It's beautiful, but at the same time everything feels so gloomy and sorrowful. The abandoned houses, the documents and pictures of people who are probably long dead by now, the books, the toys, those old movies, everything speaks about a past that is no more, smells like the dust of time, fills the air with a deep melancholy. It's like entering the house of an old granma who has passed away and seeing that everything has been left untouched, with the grammophone still playing the music she used to love when she was young.
@Arsenico971 Жыл бұрын
why would the people in question be "long dead by now"? The mine closed in 1998. The people in question should be in their 60-s to 80-s depending on their ages when they came there. They are probably fairly healthy too since the arctic has no stresses or western life, no crazy viruses and diseases, no crazy financial problems of the west. Life is just... simpler. Also don't forget all the children that grew up there - they are probably still fairly young. Your comparison to grandma that passed away is both true and false. That place is not about death of a person. It's about the death of a great superpower. Perhaps the greatest in the world. It can certainly bring up feelings of sorrow, in those that actually give a damn about what happened to the USSR, but that's different from a relative that passed away. Or is it?

BTW, about the bears, the real problem is that their numbers have risen dramatically since the 50s because we've protected them. I read somewhere that there are about ten times more bears up there now than back then. That makes it competitive and some are driven south. There is a preserve on Svalbard where humans are not allowed to go called Nordaustlandet, and it is full of walrus and other things the bears like to eat. That's why they come to Svalbard. But again, some bears get squeezed out of the walrus buffet and are forced to hunt tourists. The bear pop is balancing itself, which takes some time. But we caused this problem, as always. We caused the last one too. Firstly by shooting all of them because they are dangerous, and then by protecting them again. This is why we shouldn't meddle more than necessary. We meddled and then to solve that we meddled some more, and now there are too many bears again and starvation. Unless we want to start feeding them,. this is how nature is. Become as numerous as poss, then starvation, death and misery. Rinse and repeat. Every wild animal on the planet faces this problem.

Thanks for sharing this story of history. What a time capsule this small town is. Best wishes for your future projects!
Do you think KZhead slowed down your Ukrainian war videos? Love the content, glad you did this English channel!
Nobody cares about Ukraine anymore, it's not the current thing. They've moved on to climate change
NICE work!! We couldn't visit Pyramiden when we were in Svalbard last month, for "diplomatic" reasons. Now we get to see what we missed. Thanks for all your great videos, they are inspiring. In fact, your previous year's work helped us plan this summer's itinerary....Svalbard-Lofoten-Azores. It was a great trip and we used your tips to make it successful! Hope you get to travel again soon! Stay safe. Mvh!
Very well done! Good job capturing the feeling of the place .
I loved the way you slowed everything down at the end. Thank you for giving me a taste of this wonderful place. I also really enjoyed the music.
i’ve been obsessed with svalbard for years now!! this video is so cool, thank you so much for sharing this footage!!
The editing, cinematography, and music score really set the tone. Masterful videos. WOW
I had never heard of this place before so thank you, KZhead, for recommending this & thank you, Anton, for sharing this. Also, thank you, Sergey, for being our armed guide.
Anton you are such an artist. You put a lot of love and useful knowledge in every video you share on KZhead. For me it is a pleasure to see your videos and i get inspired for my following trip. 🤩
What an incredibly well-produced documentary. Cinematography throughout is excellent, drone shots are a treat. Very poignant perspective; the people in those KGB documents could never have imagined that some day the place they lived would be a capitalist tourist spot.
Such an underrated channel, I love your content, it's amazing.
The drone shots are stunning and contribute very effectively to the documentary's narrative (case in point 1:59)! Your filmmaking is brilliant :)
Hello Anton, what a pleasure to see you again! 👍🏻
Incredible footage!! Thanks for sharing ❤️ you are a great storyteller!!
We saw this on your main channel when you first posted it there but it's good to see it again, and wonderful to hear your OWN voice narrating in English instead of some other dude. Good stuff, fascinating content!
Excellent! Man, I really feel like this place is for me. Thanks for showing this.
Dude I never heard of this place, instantly I love it and can't wait to go. Thanks for sharing, man.
As usual - high quality video, thanks)
I enjoy your cinemograph, its just so aesthetically pleasing. Keep it up!
Your camera work is amazing. Thank you!
Awesome content! Love every bit of this instalment.
I am so glad when we get to hear your authentic self narrating these gorgeous videos.
Maximum solitude has a certain appeal. Glad to have found my way here to spend some minutes with you. Thanks for showing off this place.
This is really great! Thank you for sharing
Amazing. I adore your videos. It looks like a day after tomorrow
You can put out any old, left out, videos and we would gladly watch them. And one day soon you'd be traveling the world again. Thank you.
Zelenskyy is willing to sacrifice every single drop of Ukrainian blood in order to save his nation . He is definitely making alot of money and adding to that secret offshore account that was leaked years ago but that is definitely _NOT_ why he is refusing peace talks and wanting to draft more people to fight at all . . I do not like Anton very much but I do hope he escapes from that hell hole and those corrupt evil maniacs with their disgusting agendas . We are all human beings and deserve better than that .
Fascinating and beautiful. Thank-you for sharing! 🙂🙂
Accidentally discovered this channel & the videos & enjoyed them so much but was wondering where rest of the videos are, then i finally found your OTHER channel & was woah!!!
2 superb videos, thanks for posting them.
Fantastic video & by far the best I’ve seen on Pyramiden ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Would love to live and work in a remote place like this for a year or two someday :) A really amazing video! What a nice voice you have and the music and shoots really made it speciall!
Nice video! Donated money to Ukrainian help. From Sweden myself but always wanted to visit Svalbard. 😍
Thanks a lot for your help, dear Swedish friend. Ukrainians always know that Sweden is a friend of Ukraine. We will always remember your help on Poltava battlefield. Though we lost then our independence but not a good friend, Sweden. Ukraine and Sweden have a thousand years connections through royalties. Also we were happy to hear that Swedish people and your government did the right thing to join NATO
Thank you so much for helping Ukraine!!! Hi from Nashville TN USA!!!🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
So much cool information. I loved the way you told it. Really a cool place, i hope I get to go someday
Your natural voice is soothing. :) I hope you keep it this way.
aaa my favourite voice! Nice to have your videos back! Very interesting as usual =) I am dreaming of going to Norway after your videos =) And other places from the previous videos. Very kind sweet style
You're a great filmmaker and you have a voice crafted for explaining and telling vivid stories. You are blessed as are we. Thank you.
I am really glad to hear you dubbing your own videos now!
Great video, and such a haunting landscape. I agree with the others that I enjoy the videos with your real voice.
Good to hear your own voice again, Anton.))) And your English and pronunciation is excellent! Very glad you translate into English. Really enjoy your videos.
Such amazing videos, thank you for sharing so much!
So glad anton is finally doing voice over on his videos! You're English has gotten so good!

Been fascinated by this place ever since finding it on google maps. Thanks for the deep dive!
Dear Anton! I'm so happy to see you and hear your voice again, even I'm not interested in places like that. And.. your English is really good. Can't wait things will change to better days. Peace and love. 💜💚
Thank you so much for another great sharing. Peace, love and harmony.
This place is so impressive ! I've already seen a part of this town in a video from Cecilia Blomdahl. Thanks for all these informations

Great videography. Very enjoyable and interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to see my lovely blogger again❤️ Glory to Ukraine!!! We ll see Anton all other the world again soon!
I started following you during the Ukrainian videos. This is the first travel video from you that I'm watching. It's absolutely beautiful! I hope you'll be able to travel again soon 🙏
Keep the videos coming. Thank you sir.
The film reels collection is the best part about this
Absolutely amazing video
"a 2 year contract would buy you a flat, a car or maybe even... a country house" I wish I lived in a country where those things were: a) equal in value b) affordable within only 2 years of working instead of a lifetime
Such a beautiful place, wonderful video!
Fascinating and tragically sorrowful at the same time. Great video of the remnants of a long gone era, never to return.
Great video, and thanks for using your own voice, please continue to do so in future videos.
Had no idea this places existed. Thanks for the video!
Beautiful footage. Drones are so cool
Thanks for sharing this Anton! The algorithms suggested this video and am amazed 😍🥰 I love these kind of learning for someone like me who won’t get a chance to see these places you’re showing, it feels like I’m traveling with you 😁. By the way, is it possible to use a temporary shot to make the bear sleep in case of shooting them to death? It’s just that they have no idea what they’re into and humans are more intelligent definitely. Just curious. Thanks again and taste travels. 🥂🙏🏻🕊
no matter what they show in films, there is no substance in the world that instantly intensifies. There is anesthesia that is used during surgical interventions, but an anesthesiologist does it there, who has been studying this for almost 9 years, and then, according to many parameters of a person, it depends on which drug and in what quantities to inject
It really is in immaculate condition thank you for sharing this I never knew it existed! I never knew you existed, thanks for the videos, cheers!
Great content!
Amazing place! Thank you!
Thank you for filming this. I hope you are safe! Keep doing what you do, it allows people to escape who can't. ❤ However I got confused Usssr didn't exist for “some hundreds” years
Love your vids! You show humanity. Then and now.
Great video. Looks like an amazing place. I'd love to visit someday.
Thank you Anton. Great job
This is amazing, thank you!
AWESOME NARRATION !!!! Thanks Anton !!
The wildlife is so beautiful there! I had to go back and take a second look!
I have visited this place numerous times. The image collection I have is quite large. I had planned to stay at the hotel this year for a few nights but due to the conflicts in Ukraine. I may start the book with the images I have. This is also trip I do while doing a 10-12 day trip around Svalbard. One of my happy places in this world.
What camera do you use?
