A praying mantis caught a giant hornet that came to lick honey. However, the hornet fled just in time.

    • They aren't affraid of anything. They can fly. They eat their young and the mother eats father's head as an after shmex snack. Males do the deed even without their heads sometimes, because their r*pe instinct is that strong. The only reason they don't bite people is because they can't imagine us as anything other than giant walking trees. "Chill", huh?

  • I've seen videos of a mantis catching a humming bird. Also I've kept them as pets. A mantis is actually capable of recognizing you and you can even teach them basic little tricks. I taught mine to fly back to me when somebody else was holding her. Man I miss Wingnut.

  • I remember one mantis who lived on our porch when I was a kid. I loved going out in the neighbor's overgrown yard and catching all the grasshoppers to feed to my cat. That lil mantis would always be near the backdoor waiting for a snack and Id put it in his little claws. Miss you mantis!

    • @@Feathered_Goose These hornets are not your normal day hornets they are hornets on steroids. 5x bigger and 5x worst venom. There have been cases of them 2 fighting and the praying mantis would be getting the L most of the time. Giant Asian hornets have a strong endoskeleton too and they are strong enough to puncture through beekeeper suits. Sometimes praying mantis are considered to be a food source for giant hornets like these.

  • I found a massive mantis once and caught some crickets that were in our basement. Put the mantis and crickets into a container, and got to see up close the mantis destroy the 2 crickets. couple months later saw a much smaller mantis on a tree catching and eating several of some sort of wasp or hornet. they are extremely impressive predators.

  • Mantis are such beautiful but also cruel things. Once they got you they start eating. The truly fascinating thing about them is their strength paired with their reflex speed. They can catch mice and lizards and even take out hummingbirds while they fly.
