S J Thanks. I certainly agree! I’m against feeding wild animals - particularly if spotted in the forest, however, this deer looks a bit ‘localised’ and seems to know it’s way to food/water! Considering the scarcity of water resources it should still be okay at-least to get him some water. On a totally different context, I do sincerely hope we don’t get the elephants, camels, snakes (and bears in a few cases) out from the wild (forest)!

Strictly not allowed, these animals know how to get food and water even if no one is feeding, it is looking for easy food should not be entertained. If it comes to know that it can easily get foodike this, it will be a frequent visitor. This is Valparai, where there is abundance of food and water. Maybe this particular one is used to feeding from trash.

They are coexisting with elephants, Leopord, sloth bears, wild dog and occasionally tigers. They know what to do and when. Feeding animals in wild is punishable offence. Correct and more over it will start associating people with food and also endanger itself and other humans. These stags are know to be very aggressive during mating season, that's why the forest departments put up boards that people should not feed wild animals, it will encourage more contact between people and wild animals and cause conflicts in future, by feeding wild animals, the people are putting them at risk. Leave them alone and they will go back, and know how to take care of themselves.

Okay, but if it is a frequent happening then that means they are not getting enough food in their areas or there is rapid depletion of forests. So a via media has to be found out. The sweet shops, hotels, households, restaurants etc can take initiative by employing some people who can collect left overs, take them to these animals where they come from and feed them there only so that they do not come to cities. After all they are life and need human help as Indian rapid population explosion is capturing their lands everywhere. In such cases towns people should find a way out to feed them regularly outside their cities. That way waste food can be used to feed hungry animals also. We are left with meagre forests in India which is vanishing by the day and nobody is bothered about these speechless animals.

Indian I think we shouldn’t interfere with wild animals or nature and should be left alone. We shouldn’t habituate wild animals to depend on humans as we aren’t aware of their food habits and people like you and me are concerned about their well being but there are people(Poachers) who’ll take advantage and put animals in danger. If wild animals loose fear of humans it may venture more onto roads and highways endangering their lives.

But I am also concerned about the fact that their habitat is decreasing by the day. In future there will be no forests left. Then what will happen to them? They will die of hunger in anyways. The fast pace at which development is taking place all round the globe and in India, I have no hope for them. Anyways your concern is right.
