  • I don't know who or why these compilations are put together so badly and then use a robo reader to pump out inaccurate and misinterpreted information just stop read it yourself if you actually understand the specifications you are trying to put over to us or just give up and stick to your day job. Just a pity there isn't an ombudsman to call out shit before it makes it to the tube

  • Seems like my, bought new in 1979, Honda CBX with inline 6 cylinder naturally aspirated engine should rate some mention on these type videos. It still handles as terrible as on the first day i rode it but looks and sounds wicked cool.

    • Owned one myself back in 1980, outran the chassis at 100 mph and cornered like it had a hinge in the middle. Adjusting the valves was a fun way to spend 3 or 4 hours too.

    • @@normangraber1047 True that. Mine IS a 1980 but got it in late '79. Was in the Honda place buying a 1979 when I said, "Man, I sure wish these came in black". Salesman replied, "Well, they do for 1980". End of that deal. Bought a Simpson "Darth Vader" helmet and a black Honda jacket. I was the epitome of cool. $4,300 for bike, $400 for helmet. All plus tax. Bout only add on was the engine guards I opted for. Bike would, and still does, that death wobble. Down right now with a bad fuel petcock. Throttle cable is frozen and probably needs brakes redone. I'm 69 and still ride but it mostly sits so thinkin bout selling it. Reminds me to check if that CBX rally is still goin on in N Carolina.... Thanks for sharin. rick in Tennessee. April 4, 2024.

    • @@stanfordpittman1654 True that.... I always hoped Honda would do a remake with perhaps fuel injection, keep the sound, modern lightweight frame and of course modern swing arm with bigger than the 140 stock tire and modern front everything. Tim's CBX in Atlanta used to offer a updated version just like I described but I didn't want to use my bike as a donor. I bought a badly used '79 model but either the engine was already seized or I did it by cranking it after fuel had gotten on top of the far left piston and hydro locked busting the piston. It had been sitting up so someone advised me to remove the plugs and put some rust buster oil of some kind thru the opening to help the engine turn over. I started to pour a little on that piston but it wouldn't fill up. That was a clue. Yeah, i know.... Shuda just torn the engine down first or just sent the entire bike to Tim's. Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic BUT I can be really stupid. Just sold it with seized engine. Did double or triple my money tho. Yes, shuda kept it for parts. Tryin to find someone around Chattanooga to fix a few things on it now. From sittin up too long. Hasn't been started in bout 2 years. Been dreaming I'm riding it lately and when I punch it there's nothing happening. Instead of horsepower and Ferrari sound induced rush it's just blah. Yep, bike riding nightmare. Thanks for readin and takin the time to reply. rick in Tennessee. PTSD and me. Writing to much but at least just writing on air.

    • @@TheAcceleratorMagazine You can never write to much when it's interesting, I enjoyed reading it. I would love to have one to. I use to ride my friends and I loved riding them. They weren't to bad to Handle, but indeed it is best if your a experienced rider. I don't recommend it for someone's first bike for sure. It is a seasoned riders bike and if they are not and climb on it they will know without a shadow of a doubt the second it fires off. It's kinda one of them things that make you rethink what you thought you were going to do. Well good luck with safe bikes, slow life and fast women. Oh yea, if you get one that's frozen up shine pure straight 2 stroke oil into cylinder and let sit a bit. Try turning it but don't force to hard. If it don't move yet let it sit some more...if it tries to move even the slightest don't try to keep turning it in one direction, just take whatever slack it gives you and rock it back and forth. It will start loosing up and start moving more and more back and forth , most cases it's not so much the piston froze up as it is the wrist pin and the rings. This will help to keep from breaking rings and scratch up cylinder getting piston out. When it feels like it will turn a good 1/4 turn do not rotate it around anymore because it still has rust and crud on piston that will scratch up cylinders. If it rocks back and forth a 1/4 turn it freed up enough to get it out or at least pull the head and see how bad it is, I have had some I never even re-ringed but I could physically see it was just stuck rings from sitting. 2 stroke oil has strong corrosion inhibitors and solvents strong enough to combust and keep the carbon deposits that a 2 stroke creates clean..so it eats through though build up crap. Awe man, sorry this one got to long to, can't help it sometimes Talking guitars and bikes do that especially when it's about something like CBX. Later.

  • I used to have a GSXR 1000 K5. Bought it new. There were safety recalls for the front brake master cylinder and the frame (sometimes the front end of the bike would snap off at the headstock). Also there was a volunteered slipper clutch recall/repair I think, but by then my bike had been stolen. In addition the exhaust valve tuning servo malfunctioned from new and needed replacing under warranty and the paint on the clutch assembly cover flaked off. Having said all that I saw 186 mph flash up on the speedo and it hit 163.2 bhp on a dyno (with a top speed of 202 mph). I think I’ll stick with Honda.

  • No idea how the disaster Dodge Viper engined thing ended up at number one? By all accounts it was unrideable over 50mph and just fell down, most advertising video was at less than 30mph. Suzuki chickened out with the B-King, it was supposed to be supercharged making over 300bhp but ended up with a slightly tuned Hayabusa engine making 'only' 194bhp, Kawasaki went ahead with deliberate track use only. If Suzuki had done the same it would probably outsell the Kawasaki as turbo 'Busa' bikes have reached 700 bhp and been street legal

Heck my My "dad bike" Yamaha Tracer 900 with all kinds of touring comfort crap makes 117hp lol.....and my MT-10 which is a pretty well CASTRATED R1 with tall handlebars makes 165 HP! (a fraction of the RR Literbikes) if that 120hp figure was right? So funny how much power yesteryear bikes DID NOT have Like the "widomaker" Kawai triple I think was like 60hp

    • I was working at a Suzuki/Yamaha dealers in 1980's, original V-Max were all over the place power wise. Some were 148bhp at the wheel while others were 'restricted' to around 110bhp. Full power ones were very 'interesting' to ride on anything other than dead smooth road. We always pulled carbs after first service and cut away the ledge in manifold restricting flow. Very few had the extra butterfly between left and right banks allowing all four carbs to feed one cylinder at high rpm, vast majority only had extra butterfly between front and rear cylinders so allowing two carbs to feed one cylinder
