  • Aftersun is the most affecting film I've ever seen in a cinema, and its gorgeous music is such an indispensable part of that. Like many the sounds stayed with me long after the credits rolled. (I'm also a cello player and a longtime listener of Oliver's music, so there was another level of appreciative memory.) I'm so grateful for music and artists like this :)

  • Achingly beautiful. A woman in the row behind me burst into tears during the end credits (proper sobs), and just muttered "Daddy" over and over again. Thankfully, she was with some friends, who comforted her. I left the cinema with tears streaming down my cheeks. I was so moved, I could barely breathe, and your sublime score evokes this feeling. Thank you for your outstanding contribution to this outstanding film.

    • Saw it last night in the theater. Was holding back sobs for much of the last hour. Thinking of my mom. By the time this music started in the credits, I had to put my head in my hands and weep. It felt devastating and freeing all at once. What a profoundly beautiful piece of art.

  • One of the biggest "destructive" effects in Aftersun's final scene is this score you created. God, it played in my head all night and made me cry over and over. The most successful "depressive" score I've heard in recent years. You did a great job. People may not be aware of it or not expressing it, but you did it. congratulations.

  • Saw a lot of good films last year but nothing can compare to the final shot of this one. Its like something out of a nightmare where even myself was thinking "wait, where are you going?" and asking him to please come back but he just keeps going. Scenes like that made me wish I saw this at LFF, I was such a fool to not see it then.

I cant help but feel guilt towards that fact... i heard he was a very happy man and accomplished a lot at young age. I dont feel any remorse towards him not being here. This movie was… hauntly beautiful. Loved every bit of it, pure honest passionate work, as true art should be. Love you Dad.

    • Yup as soon as you see that Sophie’s world is blue and dark just like Callum’s, that’s when i started to swell up. She’s looking for advice and help from her father because she knows exactly what he was going through and you understand in that moment that she could very well be looking down the barrel of the same fate.

  • I saw a pre-screening of Aftersun. The cinema was packed. Not a single person stood up from their seat until the credits had finished and the lights came up. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. Went back to see it again a few weeks later and the feeling in the room at the end was similar. A film that has had such a unique impact. This song captures the feelings in such a profound way.

  • I love love how the strings in this hauntingly, beautifully tender masterpiece is played in that final scene. Calum is standing there alone as the camera completes its pan and invites us to immerse in the empty textures of the hallway where his sorrows seemingly echo, and the silence becomes deafening enough for us to hear it.
