“We have had many countries pledge significant sums of money for military aid… but we are yet to see fighter jets in the sky”.
Ukrainian MP says aid from the US and UK should enable a “turnaround” on the battlefield “by the end of the year” says Lesia Vasylenko, Ukrainian MP.

    • Russia isn't like the UK. Russia is a democracy with regularly scheduled elections. They don't hold their elections whenever the British dictator decides it's convenient for him to have them. They don't allow a small group of wealthy elitists to select their leaders behind closed doors, as they do in the UK, but allow everyone in the country to vote for them in free elections. They have a written constitution, one which clearly spells out how and when the president is elected, how they would be replaced if something happens to him, and so on. President Putin was just re-elected to another six year term. So he'll be in office until 2030. When he goes he will most likely be replaced by someone with the same policies, because most Russians agree with what Putin is doing.

  • “The manpower situation is the growing problem,” said Rob Lee, a former U.S. Marine now at the Foreign Policy Research Institute who has closely followed the Ukraine conflict. “And if that’s not fixed, then this aid package is not going to solve all Ukraine’s issues.” They’ve got to mobilize more forces and find a way to inspire more Ukrainian men to come to the front lines. The mobilization effort has been hampered in part by concerns over the open-ended timeline of a combat tour, frustrations with low pay and concerns that Ukraine’s government will not properly care for the families of those killed or wounded, the lawmaker said. “We see so many deaths and so many wounded,” the lawmaker said. “If they go, [troops] want to know how long they will be there.”

    • The point is apparently to give Ukraine enough to hold off an offensive and defend themselves. Assuming Biden gets re-elected in 2024, then there will likely be another mass funding for Ukraine. From other reports I’ve seen, the CIA and Biden are worried about just telling Ukraine to attack, potentially take lines, then trump is elected, cuts off support, and then Ukraine loses its advantages and virtually collapses. Ukraine will only maintain its independence so long as the U.S. supports Ukraine, which is actually a horrifying thought

The advances are NOT isolated. Ukraine is in full reverse.
