My channel generally focuses on a more casual side of speedruns. With these videos I want to show off cool speedruns, explain how they work, and entertain. Hopefully you enjoy the content and maybe even take up speedrunning yourself, because it is truly a lot of fun!
And yeah, today we tried speedrunning Minecraft: Story Mode. This is Minecraft, but it's a Telltale game. This is probably one of the strangest speedruns because, instead of beating the ender dragon, we're developing meaningful conversations with other people... and then watching them perish... fun.
Also I'm gonna do this cause all the cool kids do:
Not Minecraft, But Water Rises or Minecraft, But Lava Rises, or any other but challenge like that. This is a speedrun / speedrunner of Minecraft against the strangest version of Minecraft which probably shouldn't exist.

I always forget that every tragic thing that happens in this game is all because Ivor decided to save a single diamond when buying his last wither skull.

The funny thing is Ivor was going to unleash no matter what, however Jesse and Petra chasing after him only caused him to unleash it early. Technically all the deaths and tragic events are technical Jesse and Axel's fault. If they hadn't taken the potion that Ivor made in order to end the wither storm then he could've used in time and ended it before it became too powerful to stop
@@therandomnessstrikes1435 Stealing the potion is why everything went horrible, but they never would of stolen the potion had Ivor just payed the one diamond, hence why it can be said to be Ivor's fault. Or a personal favorite; every life lost to the wither storm was technically worth 1 diamond.
@@PopeMical To be fair, the wither storm had a disappointingly low kill count. Pretty much limited to Ellegaard/Magnus and Ruben.

My favorite moment from watching this game is the cheeky "no one will remember that" joke making fun of both the "handshake" AND the "so and so will remember that" lines in all of their games

My favorite part about this game is that at 2:43 if you don't select a name for the handshake, Jesse stalls for 45 seconds and then says, "Handshakes are for dweebs anyways."
I would always do that, because of how embarassed it felt watching choose an option

The only thing I can remember about this game is Ruben's death, and he just turns into a piece of pork that I kept on saying "Eat it! Use the power of the Ruben" or something

Very nostalgic, but I love how Ivor literally goes from talking really quietly to randomly shouting at nothing. For example: This monster is COMPLETELY DESTROYING THIS WORLD. We must RUN
The dialogue in MCSM may be stilted and awkward, but like... that's accurate to real conversations. People dont talk dramatically all the time in real life like they do in video games. I first found this game as a lonely kid with undiagnosed ADHD, and despite its flaws, it still holds a special place in my heart

I feel like I’m the only one who genuinely likes this game. I played it when I was younger and never got to finish it so I watched a full play through a while back, and it was both nostalgic and genuinely funny at parts
Yeah I don't understand why that received some hate. It had its funny moments and storywise there are worse full fledged movies. Was fun to play as well as to watch big youtubers do it.
My god, me too! This is a treasure of my younger self. I’m lucky enough I still have a device with every episode from season 1 and 2 installed. And recently to make it more interesting, I’ve been getting my friend to experience it, since she’s never touched it. Boy has it been fun. I just love this game, no matter how bad it is

I remember having a two year long phase where I was obsessed with this game and my whole life revolved around it. Now that I've learned what good writing it, it's fun to look back on it and laugh for the masterpiece it is.

I have to be honest, this is likely one of my favorite games that I watch when I was younger. Still is a good game I think, when your not speed running of course. I remember finding that people speed run this and I'm like "Why?" lol. Don't judge me, It does sort of come down to my childhood but still, this game is awesome casually, I think.

Though I don't really ahve a nostalgia for it since I joine dthe fandom fairly recently, I do agree that its pretty fun casually. I like Ivor and Radar alot, and Xara's character is really interesting in a good way!

Kinda thought I was weird for liking this game, but glad to see it's not just me lol. I don't talk with one of my friends who myself and I went nuts for this game when we were younger. Planned to do a summer marathon of Season 1 + 2, but only got to S1E1. I'm just raving at this point though, I could probably talk about the game for hours if I wanted to.

This game is honestly surprisingly charming, despite its many flaws...even when it got pitiful. You could tell how desperate Telltale wanted to tell something worthwhile when it turned to using MCYTers as ascended cameos (thank goodness this game was before DreamSMP got popular). Sucks how considering Telltale's been rotting for a while, its story was either brought to a rushed end or left hanging.

I... Legitimately enjoyed minecraft story mode... It was no masterpiece of writing, but I did not see it as terrible. the whole time I was looking forward to when each chapter released.

There was one time in the entire series that a choice drastically changed something which was episode 2 of season 1 where you chose ellegard or Magnus, but that came at the cost of having an EXTREMELY short episode since they had to split it and fold it for whichever side you wanted to choose.
It’s literally just watching a movie that pauses to ask you a question every 5 minutes.

I actually really like these games. I grew up with this game and I wish I could play it. I only have season 2 but I still want to play Season 1 again, because I think Episodes 5-8 are the best of the season

@@thomascothran2131 It's because even though 1-4 are a story and 5-8 are another story, the paid DLC is only episode 6-8 because they gave us episode 5 for free and netflix didn't include the DLC episodes
Minecraft story mode is honestly underrated, the games alright, the animations fine but sometimes glitchy, and probably episode 4 to 7 are the best.

Just so you know, chapter 1 is on netflix and you can skip the extra dialoge to make the speedrun MUCH quicker.
I wouldn’t call this a game as much as a choose your own adventure story. Its actually not that bad but it would be hell to speedrun. I wasn’t expecting a dramatic death scene for a pig and then to find out that it carries over to the next episode and they’ve hung the flesh of their dead comrade on the wall as a memorial was just off putting enough to have me cracking up. The first episode is pretty awful and it clearly shows that starting a story was not this writer’s strong suite but it actually gets really need and even ends up teleporting them to a skyblock world where dirt is rationed on penalty of death.
Jesus Christ the memories, they're all flooding back in. I remember playing this game as a kid and being so disappointed when I had to pay to buy all the other episodes (I did eventually got all the episodes) What started as a race to winning a building competition turned into a full on quest to stop the wither storm all because Ivor decided to expose the Order Of the Stone. This game will definitely stay in my heart as the game that kept me sane lol.

Ivor is the only semi-decently written character in this series.
Xara is pretty well written too, wish we could have seen more of her though

I agree that Xara is a good written character. I also think Romeo is a good character as well, i see what the writers tried to do with him and his characteristic like a chill chaotic antagonist. But i dont think they were able to get his character right. The idea of the personality of the admin was great, it suited him, except that he worried about having new friends to replace Xara and Fred with. They shouldn’t have like made him want any friends because it just seemed to me that his weak point was about his friends, but instead if the admin accepted that the other people worked under him and were his champions and he didnt call them friends, it would be so much better. It’s just my opinion :-)
Wrong, Petra is well-written too. She has the most development in the series.
Ivor and lukas are the only characters I like.

6:42 Minecraft Lore correction. Command blocks are actually coded in Minecraft commands. It's a pseudo command language scripted directly inside Minecraft so he could actually use it in-game (if he has op), which means he actually HAD ADMIN THIS WHOLE TIME?!?!?
