The must have run it slow to make it close for tv. They said the mustang did a 5.4 0-60. I have the v6 and it will do a 5.5 every time. GT is well into the 4s

It's a manual, the RHD version has less power, and no RWD car will launch as well as an AWD car. I don't see where the issue is.
It's only 5 less horsepower.

Tbh I don't miss them they were so up themselves it wasnt even funny tho I did enjoy the road trips but all good things come to an end one day.... Quite like the paddy, Chris, freddie new line up too

So the Focus RS is faster up to public road speeds.

Sure, if you launch it.. which you shouldn't be doing on the street. 5-60mph figures are more indicative of what you can expect when driving hard like a normal person. FoRS: 5.7s Mustang: 4.8s
Wealthy Pepsi This is common with manual AWD vehicles. They burn up the clutch to get off the line. A magazine 0-60 starts with a high RPM clutch drop or a long clutch feathering, the kind of maneuver that will quickly burn up the clutch's friction material. A 5-60 starts with the clutch fully engaged at low RPM, the kind of launch an owner of a car does. On the street, at a traffic light, you're going to be waiting for the turbo to spool while the 5.0 Mustang is already gone. I used to get beat off the line all the time by V6 minivans when I had my STI. Never buy an AWD car for its 0-60: you'll be disappointed in the real world.

thechosendude For most purposes, and to most people who have better things to worry about, its the same. There are numerous different systems to provide power to both front and rear wheels in different ways, that all most people need to know unless they are a knob.

I'm actually surprised the RS did this well on a drag against a car with 100 more hp. That RS is incredible. I would love to see the RS at a stage 3 upgrade. On a circuit track that GT would not have a chance.
stage 3 and a turbo upgrade, nobody would get near the RS. would eat the mussy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. then spit it's remainings out the tail pipe 😂

I love the really deep, ominous music that plays during the duration of the video. It just makes the whole video seem kind of eerie and out of place. It's hilarious. Like, the music betrays the forced laughter on the screen.
Nothing like driving in one straight line to truly test the full performance capabilities of a crowd eater and a bonafide rally car 😩😂
Now to be nitpicky, the UK version of the GT loss a bit of oomph compared to its US counterpart due to the exhaust being rerouted to make room for the steering column in the now right-hand drive setup. It's a small kink and not a massive drop in power but enough to make mention of it. That said the RS is still a rip roaring fun car and both cars have strengths in different areas of motorsport
Nothing wrong with either car, but the RS is actually more efficient at power delivery. Which is the different in a RT chal getting owned by a 5.0 stock mustang
That was a really close race. It takes more skill to launch a rwd car no doubt.

Test drove a Focus RS today (will likely buy it). At a red light a corvette pealed out as soon as it changed to green. I wan't expecting a drag race; the noise of the corvette startled me to the point that I stalled. The salesperson and I laughed our butts off. I guess it comes with the territory of owning such a car.
I have a very modified 2016 GTPP but I still love the Focus RS to death.
The rs is the winner for practicality. Acceleration on everyday roads beats slow start high speed.
good point indeed. especially if you're out west where the straightaways are long, but on shorter, tighter roads(like back east here), the RS's fast takeoff/braking/pick up/braking/takeoff is a lot of fun.. for what it's worth..
I love the Focus but the Mustang has to be a lot more comfortable as a daily driver. The Focus is probably better to run around a track.

for one... forget all your exact 0-60. They really don't apply to the real world. Soo many variables. It looks as though the RS could probably spank most any regular performance car at a stop light. Great car, look forward to owning one.

In the states we had factory 99 to 04 GT's that, when launched properly, would hit 60 in the low 5's all day

I've heard of Mustangs doing sub 5 easily, so is this 5.3 time just because of a bad launch? Or...?
if its standard then yeah hard to be consistent, driver is main responsible, launch again depends on who's driving.. Also Mustangs have been getting heavier year after year, that too is responsible.. And gear ratio, almost forgot to mention..lol
the driver has to be as bad as a granny or a new licensed boy to be that slow, when this mustang is good for a 4.2 seconds or less 0-60. it is not too heavy lol
They should do this race with a Focus RS that has all of Mountune’s aftermarket performance parts vs a 2022 Mustang
Mountune is the most overrated brand Focuses have ever encountered.

@dieselscartalk4146 I love the car, I have an ST that I drive to work everyday. I just think Mountune is extremely overrated. Their stuff may have been better for MK2 5 pot stuff but MK3 it's lacking.
I am surprised that these cars are so close in performance. I guess for an older guy like me having 4 doors and a fast car is still an option for under 40,000.

The Focus is champ where it counts, everyday driving! In a race across town you would have enough time to drink your coffee at the finish before the Mustang rolled up!

In everyday life, racing on UK roads, that focus would whoop the mustang
V8 is for highways, but that mustang is still pretty good around bends

Funny how there are still so many dislikes on these (very good) videos. People don't realise that this is the magazine, not the tv show. It also shows that they think throwing thumbs down pixels at a KZhead channel will bring back Jammay.
You have to ask yourself, could a heaver car with way more hp keep up with an RS in an in city chase/race with lots of very sharp turns.
In the rs you can shift from 1st to 2nd without rekeasing the gas but it’s not so good for your engine/transmission i guess
My 15 v6 mustang can do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds..... not the best launch for the gt

because time exists in the less than .1 second intervals. For example, if one was at 13.34 and the other was 13.28, but you were only measuring out to the tenths place, then they both took 13.3 seconds for the quarter mile. It's basic math, really.
Maybe the one was 13.34 and the other 13.26 :D
TheBlackestImp they probably should've, but perhaps they didn't have the proper stuff to measure that? I don't know, but either way, it's still apparent that the mustang won
the funniest part is here, this mustang does 4.2 seconds to 60 and the 1/4 mile in the low 12 seconds, these brittons from top gear are dumb.
That 5.0 will start adding big hp numbers over the focus. Add a super charger and it’s game over. The mustang has a higher ceiling in regards to speed and power.

then they must have under 300 hp since all s197 mustangs with 300 hp does 0-60 in just around or under 5 seconds...

Hammond and clarkson has a go with the mustang and the focus and I’ve noticed that the focus gets the great start leaving the mustang behind at the start but down the straight the mustang catches up and beats the focus to the line

That's weird I raced my 14 ft track pack against one of them and ran off and left him. But that is a nice little car!! Don't think they had drag racing muscle cars in mind when they built it lol
Is the Euro mustang slower? They got a 5.3 0-60 in their 5.0 but when my 5.0 was stock I got 4.5 - 4.6 all day.
