Oh wow! You’re going to have LOVE it when you finally visit 😍 You gotta go to Morocco at some point too it’s one of my all time favourite places! Some of the people we were travelling with got SIM cards/data plans at the airport but we didn’t. I like to enjoy the time away from wifi 🙏🏼 means I’m present and not checking my email and getting stressed 😂 you can also organise a sim before you go with littlegreybox.net/go/simsdirect/ we’ve used them before in New Zealand and loved them!

Oh Phoebe(and Matt) you have done such a job with this one! I’m a South Africa lover! I have visited 3 times and SA is such an amazing country incredible destination with incredible people! I know safety is an issue, and I have seen things happening with my own eyes but I never felt unsafe or threatened even hanging around alone taking public transport. People are so happy you come visit their beautiful country and show their way of doing things and share their culture! I really only have praise for these beautiful people living in one of the most beautiful country I have ever been to and( as a fussy French vegetarian) the Best food I have encountered in all my travels. And then you get all the sightseeings the wilderness the wildlife, diving sites, beaches,outdoor activities, the wines South Africa is really hard to beat! Everyone should have it on their bucket list! I cannot wait for the day I can go visit again and vlog for my own channel! Just by watching your video, you got me planning to go out there and see this paradise i call home - South Africa. It's been a while since I last went exploring. Am in my 30s and have travelled a lot within south Africa, but i havint been everywhere coz the country is just vast. Love love you guys. Hope you come here every time you free. Cape Town winters are cool and wet so dress appropriately

You'll have to come back, so much more to see: The Drakensberg with the 2nd highest waterfall in the world, the Garden route with beautiful natural forests, thr Kalahari desert in the northern Cape, the beautiful west coast of South Africa, the panoramic route in Mpumalanga, KZN and Eastern Cape beaches, all the passes between coast and the Karoo etc etc
Oh my gosh sounds like I need many more weeks to see it all. My visits are always too fast!

I think you must make it more clear about the requirement for safety in the larger cities. It's all well and good saying the positives, but you're more at risk from being robbed or killed by people in the cities than animals on a safari in SA
Easiest advice. Stay away from all CBD areas. Like JHB CBD. But in the tourist areas the security is better for obvious reasons. Local is mostly lekker😂
In 1977, there were 4.3 million whites, constituting 16.4% of the population at the time. At 2016, it was estimated that at least 800,000 white South Africans had emigrated since 1995. Many S African expats will talk of the breakdown in law and order, while others say the country is going to the dogs economically. Any country which needs a permanent guide is a risk. Joburg used to be the murder capital of the world not at war, but it has now been supplanted by Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, which are only topped in world rankings by various cities in Mexico and Brazil. Gods Own Country? Even elephant herds in RSA are at risk of being culled.
Go to Hermanus. Its on garden route, one of the safest places in Africa. Its so beautiful!

I live in Cape Town, and grew up in the Kalahari...two of the most beautiful places in the world. Yes, we looooove to braai! 😋"Nou nou" usually means not now...but soon...Like you would say to your friend " Ek gaan jou nou nou kom haal"...meaning " I am going to fetch you now" ...which normally is 2 hours later🤣
Hiya! Love the way you express their language ❤, made me think of the Papiemento of the Caribbean. For sure I will visit with a local guide one day. The safari intrigues me more than the city, so will definitely go for a safari once I visit. Love to meet locals when I travel, it’s much better than being surrounded by the Dutch people haha. Its not safe at all, only areas like Hermanus and sometimes Cape-Town are actaully safe.

I always find it weird that Australians and New Zealanders like visiting South Africa. More specifically Cape Town and Joburg. Okay Cape Town I understand, but Joburg, there are times where when I'm walking around Sandton and Rosebank, I don't even hear South African accents, I hear foreign accents.

Went on my trip. No forms or fee to go through or transit to SA from Canada
My husband has been there three times beofre we were together. He´s German. He would love to take me from capetown down the garden route to Durban and inbetween to the national park ending in Joburg. But I´m so afraid of crime. Crime is everywhere in the world but SA scares me. We´re planning November
If ur scared of the crime, you guys should totally go to Hermanus! Its the safest place there, been going for 7 years and never once has there been a murder or robbery in that area. Its so beautiful and very safe.

Oooh look it’s a bit tough at times but if you plan ahead you’ll find amazing restaurants! I was honestly so impressed but how amazing the food was in Jo’Burg! You may need to stick to pre-planned restaurants and cafes rather than street eats 😊🙏🏼

When we did the safari in the National Park the guide had a rifle but said he’s never had to use it. When we did the safari in the private game reserve they don’t have guns 🙌🏻😊

If you dont have your own driver then get uber everwhere at and ladies DO NOT WEAR JEWELRY at night. My wife was mugged jan 22nd 2004 at night just for a cheap silver necklace . Leave jewels at home
