Second episode of the improv show hosted by Paul Merton. The contestants are Clive Anderson, Sally Lindsay, Hamish Blake, and Michael McIntyre. 2/5
Seeing Clive in casual clothing is kind of odd. (Not as odd as the costume they made him wear later in the episode, though.)
"My racquet's in there" classic xD
"How are ya muscles?" Fucking dead.
Smelliest Müt lol
Yeah💯😂😂😂😂,he's gold💯😂😂😂
Hamish is soooo awesome. "why should we let you into heaven?" "My racket's in there!" He's the funniest guy =D
"My racquets in there.." That was pure genius.
I hate the UK version. They never give the actor (being Hamish Blake) any usable material. The Australian version is much smoother and funnier
Normally English comedy is the best but the Aussies do a much better job. Hamish just couldn't shine!
Yes I agree
I guess Working Dog productions weren't producing the UK version then.....everything they do is gold!
True fact: In Australia, this show was a comedy.
Was it not in the UK?
Australia's was comedy throughout. UK's was not particularly that: more of an improv exercise, besides Hamish's contributions
@@stephaniewaters1777 ah I see. I’ve only seen the Australian one, I thought it was the same over there. The UK usually does humour really well, I thought this show would be similar.
Aussie humour, the best kind.
The UK scenarios are so weird. The only reason that was watchable was because of Hamish!
I LOVE how he manages to guess the kidney thing before they even say it!
Hamish is the master of Thank God you're here
They try setting him up too hard instead of his creativity flowing naturally.
1:44 "Back to Australia" should have been the answer
+Dr McFlurry It's clear they were setting him up.
Except we're the complete opposite of crowded.
@@gameguru1234 You've obviously never been to sydney
gloop32 yeah I was thinking Bondi beach in the summer
"Why should we let YOU into Heaven?" *_pause_* "aw my racquet's in there" *_throws racquet_* Killed me. Killed me dead.
TheNexan lol
That got me too💯😂😂😂
What i find amusing about this show is that not only must the contestant know how to improvise, the actors in the scene also must both know how to improvise and try not to laugh during the whole procedure.
Yeah, the only time I've ever laughed watching the UK version is when an Aussie is up.
One frustration I have with watching TGYH is that the way they have the show structured, it violates one of the cardinal rules of making good improv: Never try to "deny" the things your fellow performers inserted into the scene with their words. Always accept what the other actor said and build on top of it, or if you have to deny it, deny it in a way that actually inserts a funny twist on it, but never just say "no you're wrong, it's really like this instead". But because all the performers except the 'victim' have scripted events they have to hit during the scene, they keep telling the performer that they're wrong if something is invented that will get in the way of the scripted events to come. One example of this is the question with a hardcoded answer. They ask the performer a question like "why did you miss work yesterday?", and whatever the performer comes up with is utterly irrelevant to the scene because they then say, "no that's not true, it's actually that you were in jail...."
That's because this is a game show, not real improv. The whole point of this show is to let the guest score with jokes and funny remarks, not create an interesting or well developed scene. That's just what the show is. Not saying you're wrong or I disagree with you, I would love to see a show that does improv proper.
It's not a game show. The "contestants" are paid professional celebrities and the "winner" is picked arbitrarily, like in Whose Line is it Anyway. And I agree that the point of the show is to be funny but it's funnier when you have to build on what the other performer said rather than deny it and ignore it.
Yeah but you have to remember that this is for TV. If they didn't have that structure as security you really don't know where the scenes would end up. I understand that that is the whole point of improv, but in a TV setting it's unpredictable and could make for some awkward scenes.
You also have to remember that not everyone they bring on the show is necessarily good at improv. I didnt watch the english version but in the Australian one lots of the people the brought in were celebrities or talkshow hosts or actors, not people who necessarily specialiase in improv.
popnfreshz It's not the skill of the 'guest' at doing improv that matters for what I'm talking about, though. It's the skill of the regular repeat cast members, who presumably *are* improv performers. I'm not referring to the guest's inability to come up with an answer. I'm referring to the regular cast's apparent inability to *accept* the guest's answer and do something on top of it. It's the regulars' constant denying of the guest performer's clever ideas that gets a bit frustrating.
Classic Aussie comedian. We are like that
Hamish is a genius! Australia represent for sure!!!
I love when Hamish threw the racket behind the gate! That was hilarious! :)
Hamish is so creative and witty 🤣🤣 god I miss the Aussie shows
Funniest bit when he threw his racket over :P Such quick thinking, he's wicked.
Agreed, and he wasn't able to bounce of the actors at much. Their improv was pretty stiff, poor timing, leaving him with the awkward silence here and there. Makes it hard for the audience.
5:40 "I'm really glad this is just in England" (Hamish Blake, 2008)
wow the UK version is just asking a bunch of questions... not a smooth improve skit. such a shame
That’s… literally the Australian original version. That’s how it works. Everything is scripted except the guest.
Hell, the scene Clive walked into in the previous segment before this *was exactly the same as done on the Aus show* . Same script of the actors, just the guest improvising.
Thats literally the show
The funniest video ever!! This is why I love Hamish!!!!
hahaha he killed it def one of my fav comedians
Hamish is so funny and he's aussie!
My racquet is in there!
Hatza04 lol
hey muscles HAHAHAHA
What a STAR!
Lovely impro.... including tossing the racket in and saying I'm just going in to get it.
omg i knew hamish was going to pick the angel!!!
"Why should we let you into heaven?!" *throws the racket over the fence* "Qh, well, my rackets in there" PURE GENIUS!!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAA!
wow hamish seemed really uncomfortable. the scenario wasn't very encouraging of the actor though. they should take a page out of the australian version.
Hamish rips up at the end in the interview skit compared to the others. Aus represent ^_^
hamish is a genius. .love him
i love hamish so much hamish&andy best radio show ever
Typical Australians, with their amazing accuracy and coordination.
lol hamish is soo good at improv! he did very well despite being a bit nervous. does anyone have the link for hamish's first appearance on tgyh uk?
"it wasn't that immaculate" hahahaha!
OH REALLY!! that's gr8 to know YAY! lol P.S. proud to be an aussie : D
5:00 omd love this sooooooooooooooooo much!!!
This is heaven😇
I wish they'd kinda shut up and let him talk.. I know they have a time restraint but seriously they cut him off a bunch of times! I love Hamish! :D
i love how you say 'import' like they're objects lol hamish is awesome
I just hate how TGYH is not on anymore. Some of the best laughs I ever had, especially Josh Lawson as an African explorer
its being rebooted in australia
Gotta love Hamish!
haha yeah this is awesome... mind you, he does seem made for this show haha
it may only be in britain but we heard you loud and clear here in aus hamish
oooooo you miss out...... hahahaha. Gravey baby Gravey
hahaha love it!
this hamish guy is hilarious iv never heard of him before?
Australians are so much funnier.
he means this version is only airing in England... if you use google you'll find that the australian version is the original
I appreciate the fact it's an Aussie show... I don't think my point was clear enough perhaps. I don't doubt the original show is Australian, I was commenting solely on Hamish's ironic comment. I find it funny that here in Australia I'm hearing Hamish be glad that people in Australia won't hear him...
I know someone called Andrea Booth 😂😂
Yay! Double time!
My racket is in there lol
GO HAMISH! That was awesome :D :D :D ahaha can't wait for the next season on aussie tv.
Aaah, that makes sense
Haha it's not showed only in England! :P
Aahh Hamish, freakin hilarious
Hamish was on fire. Very very funny.
no!!!! im too far away :(
Hamish is wonderful, Merton is wonderful. How did this show not quite make it in UK?
Yeah, thats the one...
What about the english versin with the car thing, with the guy whos name i forgot!!? it was so the best someone should post that!
I am Australian and I agree with skintightpanda lol
5:47 if you would like to skip the context.
God the uk version sucks!
What happened to Yes And lmao
oh are you serious that happens to aus as well! omg i can't beleive they tried to make kath and kim...how did they do it coz kath and kim r aussie...then was there's american style or what?
I'd like to wait until this show gets its own feet, then they'll get a bigger budget as they get more popular and stuff. As long as Britain sticks to it.
It's Hamish all the way, isn't it!? :)
well you can't break them all...
when you cut the cake, if the knife comes out dirty (with cake on it), you need to kiss the closest boy/girl :)
ok thanx i know now..someone already told me! but thanx anyway :D
lol can we not call me the sinner
Wonder if Hamish Blake is a Homely Bloke
The Joke. . . . . . . . . Your Head.
The American version is good too. and uhh.. GO HAMISH!
So much for only in England.
i wish i was an aussie
ha hamish love him i like the australian thank god your here better though XD
Hamish was really good. I reckon I like the Australian one better, that is just my opinion.
It was near the top
have you had the peoples chip?
It's their job, they're not allowed to.
He sooooo shoulld have one
sooooooooooo funny hamish is mad
Hamish Blake is the best, and he's aussie... australian is the original and best version of course
The only funny one here is Hamish haha
seriously, whys he there? how is he known outside of australia?
How are ya Muscles?
@ketket23 its a suit.....i have one myself
Officer: State your full name. Michael McIntyre: What day is it? Officer: It's Monday. Michael Mcintyre: John. John Johnston. lol One of the best bits of the episode.
Sound goes majorly off in this vid, still funny but could do with a fix
It’s literally just the actor’s asking questions. Aussie version is way better
Why is this so darn laggy!?!?!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
