VEGANS REACT to Jubilee's "6 Vegans vs 1 Meat Eater" | judging other vegans for being judgmental

We had a lot of fun watching and reacting to Jubilee's "6 Vegans vs 1 Meat Eater: Odd Man Out" where a group of seven people try to figure out who amongst them is not vegan. Judgments are made within the video both fairly and unfairly and we definitely had some opinions to share!

Maybe health, environmental concerns, or animal rights… and when you make that commitment it can really feel life changing. But then I think a lot of people start to see something very nuanced as suddenly black and white. They forget that this is something everyone needs to come to on their own. I mean, why would someone stick to this if they didn’t have a reason? I know I wasn’t some horrible unmotivated person pre-veganism, I just didn’t have the same information I do now. Instead of being the angry vegan, I find the best way to influence people around me is to just live my best life and let them ask the questions. • Here’s another perspective for you ladies..I’m sorry for me when I think of vegans I think of rich, sometimes privileged dare i say it ‘white’ ppl living in the city going to their yoga classes eating at their fancy expensive cafes, going trader joes living in their studio apartments. Who can very comfortably afford their vegan lifestyle at great costs. (And yes I know I’m generalising), their biggest fight is to protect the animals...which I’m not denying is good!! This is my problem, is that there is plenty of urban cities in the us where there are literal ‘food deserts’ where ppl of colour are not even able to access adequate food, especially fruit and veges. So No farmers markets, no trader joes...not even a fruit shop in site yet nobody wants to say anything. Sometimes it bothers me when I see ppl fight more for the rights of animals then for humans to get adequate access to food sometimes in the same city just to feed their families. Sorry for the long winded explanation but thought I could share a different POV.

I do understand where you’re coming from because I’ve been there before. It’s a topic that involves a lot of emotion when you are in it for the animals. But the truth is, lots of people aren’t in it for the animals, and that is okay. If someone goes vegan for their health and still buys leather intentionally, why wouldn’t you want to include them in the vegan community? Why wouldn’t you want to have them feel welcomed and supported so hopefully they’re able to sustain that vegan diet for as long as possible? Gatekeeping veganism is mad weird to me.

They tell all of the people that are casted that the way they behave is the way that they will be seen online. So the way that Erin was acting was just how she was. That being said, Erin had a good strategy for questioning, especially if they’re trying to find the mole, but she did seem very superior and self righteous in the way she would correct everything Brandon had to say.

Either they forget the beans for some reason, they forget a part of my combo or they still put cheese or meat on something. Also they stopped replacing cheese with pico and started just using tomatoes. Idk why but standards dropped where I’m from. I don’t think I’ll trust them even if they get vegan meat. Because I kept having those poor experiences at taco bell I tried a local Mexican fast food restaurant and ordered one of their vegan burritos and I bit into it and there was a huge layer of cheese in it. • Quick question, hopefully i can get some different aspects on. Why is honey not vegan? I can see that mass produced honey kills bee's by harvesting, but a backyard hive with a docile breed of bee and the right hive box wouldnt impact the bee's. If your saying that having animals produce food for you is exploitive and thats why you consider it non-vegan couldnt you say that all plants ( the majority ) that require pollenation and matainence for their ecosystem by living creatures is being exploitive to living creatures and therefore makes all of your plant based food non-vegan?

    @JonJon-nt1wy@JonJon-nt1wy3 жыл бұрын
    • As an ex-beekeeper, I can weigh in a bit. Honey is in a weird place for vegans because it is an animal product, but one that is normally overproduced and is safe to remove excess. Bees are also nigh on impossible to contain if they decide the environment is bad, since they can just form a swarm and leave. A stationary beehive will naturally produce more honey than it can consume, which can lead to parasites, hive splitting(when a hive splits in two and half fly off, which can kill one or both groups if badly timed), and hive rotting. So a local beekeeper can safely harvest a lot of honey from a hive and it still be safe, ethical, and sustainable. The big issue is commercial beekeepers, who truck hives down the highway at 70mph to places in season for pollination and have much larger losses due to constant environmental shifts and frequent harvesting. Those are both stressful on bees, so they have much higher death rates. Most vegans I know seem to say local honey is okay, but mass produced is iffy. Some, of course, are much more strict.

  • I am a little bit late to the conversation 😂 but still I think the most important thing when trying to go vegan/vegetarian is to try your best and to think not only about the well-being of animals, but the planet and the overall health of the population as well ( it could get better with a more plant-based diet), and vegans/vegetarian can motivate that by setting-up a example that its not about perfection or being 100% vegan, but trying your best to lessen the amount of animals products that you consume
