  • I actually just bought the Arctis 7+ a couple of weeks ago after watching your review (one of the few people that reviewed the + !). For me it was really between the Arctis 7+ and the Blackshark V2 Pro as I do not really like the design or the flip to mute of the HS80 and I don't like icue since the more recent update. I was using Blackshark V2 wired before that and LOVE them so almost went straight to the Pros but decided to do a little research for my first wireless set. Your reviews helped a lot and ultimately I picked the 7+ due to the USB C connectivity and thought Sonar looked fun. My ears stick out so the ear cushions were too shallow but I picked up some Wicked Cushions (the cooling gel type) and now they're super comfy and sound great. Your review makes all 3 sound so good though that it makes me want to just buy the other two also lol. Thanks for the video!

  • Had the steelseries pro and loved the comfort and sound was best out of the 3 but being a couch gamer the pro wired was just a bit of a pain with the dac. The Corsair I couldn’t deal with the sound or the fit on my head due to larger earlobes. The razors were an okay headset the fit out of these 3 was prob in second place but the sound just sounded way too muddy for me. Now if you are an Xbox player yea I’d go steelseries 9x since the 7x has been discontinued. However I took your advice and bought the penrose x and put those gel wicked cushions on them and man the sound is like no other gaming headset I’ve used and the mic I have gotten nothing but compliments. So out of these 3 I’d choose steelseries 7 if I had to choose between the 3 if ps or pc playing and none of these if on Xbox.

    • @@iSyre They’re both really good, but I don’t think the virtuoso’s are worth the price when companies like Beyerdyanmic make such great headsets even cheaper. But the beauty of the HS80 is that it’s built-in microphone is absolutely phenomenal, it’s literally better than a LOT of external mics that sell for $100+, and the sound quality competes very well with similarly priced options from the aforementioned beyerdyanmic. You really couldn’t go wrong with the HS80’s. They’re built great, great sound, have an amazing microphone, and affordable. Especially right now, I just checked and they’re selling for $115 right now. At that price they’re really hard to beat if you’re just buying them to use as a gaming headset.

  • I’ve always said if you’re someone like me who only cares about directional sound like footsteps and being able to hear them well left, right, above, behind etc then no matter which headset you buy, even the most expensive ones you’re going to hear footsteps from around 28-34 metres in games like Warzone. Of course louder the headset gets, louder you’ll hear the footsteps from whatever distance you’ll start to hear footsteps with that headset. I’ve been using the Astro A20 and they’re amazing and definitely punches above it’s price tag. I used own the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless and they’re amazing, because of the higher frequency response and how loud they get and combined with being able to adjust your EQ via the dac, those footsteps are super loud. It still makes no difference to tue distance, but Arctis Pro Wireless is one of very few headsets you can hear footsteps from around 34 metres away in Warzone. I stopped using the SteelSeries, because 2 of them went wrong and drivers stopped working or disconnecting. After plenty research and speaking to people and SteelSeries, it turns out the problem was listening to them at max volume which eventually causes something to disconnect in the drivers from the vibration max volume causes, which defeats the object selling a headset for £300 that can’t handle max volume. However, I recently bought the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless again and I seriously didn’t realise how much I was missing. Perfect EQ adjustment to my ears and loud volume, everything including footsteps are so loud and precise. I’ve learnt to adjust the EQ to accommodate lower volume at around 80% as I don’t want to experience the same defect by listening to them at max volume. At 80% it’s still louder than pretty much all other headsets.

  • The ear cuffs on the black shark v2 did press hard on my head and were bad to wear longer than 30 minutes. I ordered 3rd party replacements from Misodiko (the only company that has ear pad replacement for this headset). My ears don't get as warm after 1+ hours of gaming and I don't feel that pressure on my head anymore. And yes... I do have a larger head, my football helmet was wider than most helmets if that helps give perspective. With that said, after replacing the ear cuffs, I give the headset a 8/10 for $100 or less range. Something I've had trouble getting used to is the button placement on the headset. I find myself often searching for the buttons instead of being able to find it fluidly or after 3 seconds of feeling around.

  • As you've mentioned, it really boils down on which features and advantages that you need or want. These 3 were definitely among my choices before I bought mine. And I bought the Arctis 7+ for the things I need and want: * Build - much solid build for me compared to the Blackshark, and I am not that delicate on my things haha * USB-C dongle - I can use it on my mobile phone/Switch when I travel * UBS-C charging port - fast charging, and almost all of my devices use USB-C * 30 hrs battery life - I don't charge my headset everyday, but I only need to charge it around 1-2 times a week * Overall sound - I play more competitive games, and the customized EQ settings are saved on the headset * Software - the app gave me better customization with the EQ for various games that I play, tho it can actually be used by any headset * Minimal mic but still accessible - I use a separate mic on a boom arm when I game, but I can still use the retractable mic for work or zoom calls on my phone At the end of the day, you can never go wrong with any of these 3 headsets as long as you know the features you need/want, and do your research well. Another great content, good Sir! Keep it coming!

    • I own the Arctis Pro (better version of the 7+ with high-res audio cert) and all I can say is that I hope you got an extended warranty if you don't absolutely baby your headsets. Steelseries has some planned obsolescence in their headsets in the form of a design flaw that causes them to break far sooner than they should unless you really baby them, but even then, they WILL break on you no matter what. The hinges are sitting in a thin plastic shell and that casing cracks on EVERY Arctis headset, just go on reddit and search "Arctis broke". I bought a 4-year extended warranty for my Arctis Pros for that reason. I have really babied mine for 2 years, but I notice that mine have the exact same stress fracture now that happens to everyone's Arctis headsets, even though I made sure to always pull on the band, not the earcups, when putting them on so I put the least amount of stress on the hinges. I would not recommend supporting Steelseries until they stop with their anti-consumer practices. They are well aware of the design flaw but refuse to fix it because they know most headsets will break just outside the 1year warranty window and then you have to buy another pair. It's really messed up that they still refuse to simply add some rubber or metal to reinforce the hinge area even though there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of complaints about this flaw online.

  • Been with the HS80 now for over a year, of which the purchase was guided by Techne's videos. Absolutely no qualms with it, aside from lasting durability of the ear pads. The fabric eventually started to separate from the back of the ear pads. A little hot glue fixed them right up, in a more permanent way. Great sound in game, or while listening to music and also just a STELLAR mic.

  • CORRECTION!! THE CORSAIR HS80 HAS 50MM DRIVERS, NOT 40MM! I have owned or used all 3 of these, well, the Arctis Pro, not the 7, but they're al solid headsets. I'm currently using the HS80 and I gotta say they are my favorite headset that I've owned. They get incredibly loud, like I never have to turn them above 50%, but with the other two, I could turn them up to the max just fine. The HS80 also has the best microphone of any headset I've ever used, wired or wireless. It's pretty incredible how good the mic is for a wireless headset. The build quality on the HS80 is the best of all three BY FAR. They have a metal band and metal hinges, and they are very sturdy. The Arctis unfortunately has a design flaw that make them break a lot easier than the other headsets. I love my Arctis Pro, but they are fracturing in the same spot that everyone's do because they have a design flaw that Steelseries refuses to fix. The Corsair HS80 has the best sound imo, with 50mm drivers and a frequency range of 20-40,000 so they are also high-res certified. The surround sound on the Corsair is excellent as well, better than the other two imo. They also come with Dolby Atmos, which is a nice little bonus. The Corsair HS80 has a 10-band EQ and you can switch between 6 different EQ presets right on the headset as well. I can't stress enough how great the HS80s are and if you want an amazing mic then it's definitely the best choice of all 3.

It also squished my head. The arctis is perfect for me- the strap headband applies pressure evenly, they don't press hard on your head, the mic (and noise cancelling software) is excellent, and the sound quality (and software) is on par with and above the Blackshark and Creative Fatality. The design is also really cool imo. They're awesome.

  • I've been looking for a headset for a while now, and after checking for weeks I still havent decided, but its actually been between Razer Blackshark v2 Pro (2023 model) and Logitech G Pro x2 lightspeed, sadly I am the person who wants it all, the razer offers the best mic obviously, because its very good, the logitech lacking a bit on mic but they do apparently win on comfort, sound is a bit hard to tell, but depending on preference I believe. Good thing about logitech is that it brings both leather and texture ear pads, but if you'd rly want the razer and you had a issue with the ear pads you could always buy the cushins you are recommending. What brought me here is actually the HS80 Wireless headset, I am tempted to buy this headset too, the good thing about this headset is that I can get it for about 90 euro, its on a discount from 150-200, meanwhile the razer and logitech is from 250 to 300. What I'm very curious about is the MIC quality on the new razer 2023 model vs this HS80, are you able to perform a test like this, I think a lot of people would be interested in looking at this, I've seen people saying the HS80 do have the best microphone out there, but this was before the 2023 mode released, but to be fair I think they are pretty similar when it comes to quality, its just a bit hard to compare them from different videoes etc. I had this worry about battery time also, thats why I did consider the Razer for its 70hrs but as you say, 20hrs is plenty on the hs80 as long as you just charge it every day to second day. I hope that you can do a test on these mics before the discount on the HS80 runs out in september, i havent found any videoes of it so far, probably because the razer is still pretty new and people didnt bother to test a old vs new, but would appreciate it!

    • I own both the Arctis Pro (better version of the 7+ with high-res audio cert) and HS80, and I can safely say that the HS80s are superior in many ways. I bought a 4 year extended warranty for my Arctis Pros for that reason.
